I'm really nervous about coley. We lose him we're in big trouble.

Compliance better not suspend Coley late into the season, I understand being cautious because of probation, but anything more than a 1 game suspension would be total bullsh*t. And if they're going to do anything, it better be before we play GTech.
Anything more than that, and they're clearly trying to sabotage this team.

Wait, I thought Coley was cleared and "the investigation was considered closed."

Although I don't agree that he's the only one whose skills we can't replicate (Grace falls there, too), it's an even bigger loss than Grace, as Peter mentioned.

While I'm perpetually annoyed at UM's constant use of "outside" entities for decision making, the delay in action has to also be heavily attributed to at minimum the 3 dismissed players more than likely lying about the true details here or being too late in coming clean. We can gripe about the overreaction all we want but these kids clearly put themselves in a situation where a reaction was required and they **** well knew the environment in which the reaction would be levied. A new staff with a somewhat new administration within a program already under scrutiny equals a situation where you're possibly going to be made an example of. I hope they at least got some *** from pretending to be ballers with the rental bling.
While I agree with your premise somewhat, it has to be noted that Pete on Twitter yesterday said that if it were only up to Richt, none of these guys would've been kicked off the team.

Not only do we have to fight off other school for recruits we must fight off our on administration. Our administration has a tendency to throw kids under the bus with anything related to football.

I feel as if the school overreacted. All players are eligible to play for others schools with no penalty so why were they kicked out of school?

We had players allegely take benefits from Shapiro who transferred to other schools and never lost eligibility.
Players like Arthur Brown and maybe Marve.

I may be wrong but weren't Brown and perhaps Marve given immunity for speaking with the NCAA?

How about this......follow the fcking rules, and if you can't do that, don't lie about it and make it tougher on admin. to get to the bottom of things.

We don't have to fight admin. We have to fight stupid football players.

please outline the underlying facts around Coley's involvement and the basis for this one game suspension

we are all very nervous about Coley and clearly you have the inside track from the grassy knoll

Pete needs to clear up what he wrote about Coley, because right now he is saying UM is lying.

Either Pete is wrong or UM is lying.

If Pete's right, then he must know what Coley's suspension is. So tell us instead tap dancing around the issue and doing Miami Herald-style fear mongering

The school threw AQM and Grace under the bus like the bunch of fake back stabbing pos that they and most of this fan base included are....

And I think it was pretty obvious that AQM was going to be a top 3 round draft pick. That's a huge loss to the dline, we were deep bc he was on the team.

This...digusting.

Yeah it took long because apparently they lied to the administration. Stop try to relieve these kids of blame for doing something they clearly knew was wrong, and then lied about it. Smh.

You're an idiot

Wait, I thought Coley was cleared and "the investigation was considered closed."

That was my point yesterday: that nowhere did I read that he was in the clear.
Folks assumed he was because of the UM press release concluding with the
"matter being closed".

Ohhhh, I don't think it's necessarily fair (as Richt's punishment would have been) but I just don't feel sorry for them or am willing to go ape$hit in anger toward the school for their course of action. The players' stupidity and immaturity created the situation that allowed for the overreaction so I'm tempered in getting too heated that we deferred to outside counsel about being over cautious in trying to stay in the good graces of the clearly hypocritical NCAA.

This should have been taken care of much sooner. That's my gripe. The punishments may have been overkill but that's the chance you take.

I agree that it should have been done sooner (then again we don't know all the details that went into why it was done now)
Regardless IMO we got lucky and dodged a much bigger problem. If this comes out after the season started...say in the middle of the season or even after the season it would have been a lot worse. It would mean we played ineligible players and then it starts to get difficult.

UM's biggest concern was whether there were coaches, boosters, staffers, etc involved in this mess.
In other words, if there was a "Lack of Institutional Control (LOIC)".
They investigated and apparently found no evidence of LOIC, hence the school considering
the "matter being closed".
But that doesn't necessarily mean that Coley is in the clear.
Folks here need to read more carefully.

Smarmy sarcasm nice...
I never said I had any inside track... My comment was in reference to Pete saying that Coley could still be suspended.
If that were the case, when exactly would that ruling take place & for how long? Considering the way compliance handled this situation by kicking two of our best players off the team a week before the season starts, it's not far fetched to assume they should expedite the process no?

grace i feel bad for but AQM should have been the most well behaved kid we have. he has had issues in past and should have been focused on making most out of his opportunity.

Weren't you around during the Shapiro nonsense?
That stuff blew up in Aug2011 and yet we still had basketball players getting suspended late into the 2011-2012 season.
