Yep. This is where I am too. I don’t understand all this talk about flipping guys. It didn’t happen last cycle and now , with rev share contracts, it’s going to be harder
Rev share contracts are going to limit transfers too. Most of the contracts have rights of first refusal language, which is going to severely limit the number of decent P4 transfers available. Most transfers will come from the G5 and the entire P4 will be fighting over them.

And only one is from our backyard and we were a hair from losing Blount as he flipped back to us. Our own kids ain't fans of the hometown school with all the history and prestige and ain't raised with loyalty to want to get us back to the glory years. **** we've seen top prospects not even give a **** and rep schools they have no reason having an allegiance to

No other school is the country deals with this foolery. Now we haven't given them much to cheer about but the OSU's, UT's and LSU's get the main kids out their state win lose or draw
Agree on the lack of loyalty from in state kids. There’s a huge disparity in in-state student population % between UM and the average state school, and that makes it more difficult to generate and maintain loyalty from the hometown kids.

I know it sucks rn with how things are going, but look at other states top recruits. I see top kids in Texas, Georgia, and Bama going out of state.

Ive been doom and gloom with this program for years, but id be shocked if we dont have a succesful season this year. We turned our biggest weakness (DB) into a strength. We brought in a big time proven QB to play behind a dominant O line with a strong running game. We dont have a proven superstar WR, but we have quite a few options to have us continuing our success on that side of the ball from last year.

Mario frusterates me as much as anyone, but I thinks he falls into success this year. Maybe, that turns around the recruiting cycle. That being said, we need to step up to the plate financially like USC is. Pay up for the difference makers

This lie has been debunked more times than I can remember. Winning happens fast or it doesn’t happen.
2022:

Josh Gattis
Frank Ponce
Kevin Smith
Kevin Steele
Joe Saliva
Rod Wright
Charlie Strong
Jamihle Addae
DVD

I could be off on a detail here but as I look:

4 of 15 recruits set to impact the 2025 team and ZERO of the top 6 ranked kids (hopefully 5 with Markeith Williams) with 1 sure fire NFL player (Cooper)

11 portal recruits with possibly only 1 being drafted and it’s as a Seminole

**** of a way to kick off a rebuild

Because it’s only 1 year and people are saying it’s only because cam ward. And they are using that too saying oh they had the best qb In cfb and still couldn’t even make the acccg
He wasn’t the best qb the year before and it’s been an upward trajectory. (Even though imo he was the best qb the year before) just no one knew.

It’s still an upward trajectory from basically 5-7 with 1 star type talent across the line of scrimmage. Guys that should honestly be playing at middle Tennessee state types.

This is Year #4 of a major rebuild. We are still building a solid foundation for a consistent program. This program had been basura for so long that it will take more than one 10+ win season to prove we can once again be consistent.
Is anyone out recruiting Mario? He and the staff are relentless. The fans and university are doing their part via NIL contributions and facilities. We are getting enough players either through HS or transfer portal to better execute the game plan year over year. Let’s stay focused on improvement and winning.
If these kids don’t jump on with UM this year, then with the portal, we will have a chance to reel them in another year. We have a Top 10 class currently and we have until December to flip some others that committed to programs that may implode this upcoming season.

Does it take time to build an elite team that competes for NCs every year? Yeah. Osu, bama, Georgia have 10+ years of top 5 recruiting classes. That can’t be overcome in a few years.

Should it be taking this long to only continually lose games you shouldn’t and struggling to get to 8-9 wins? Yeah nah. That’s the issue.

This is why I got so mad with Miami getting Cantwell under the narrative that we paid up for him.

It pushes false narratives into peoples heads. It allows other teams to recruit against us and also use that statement to pony up more money.

How are we struggling to get to 8-9 wins though? We just won 10. Three more than the previous year. Two more than the one before that.

If they go 8-4 or something this year, post this. Right now it doesn’t make any sense.

It took him 3 years to have the best season we’ve had in 20. Sure, I’d have liked that to happen in year 2 like anyone else, but it’s the last we’ve played. Should we not see how this season goes before we shoot the program in to the sun? Again?

This year is a big year for him but let’s be honest about last year. We ended with a thud and had to pull out miracles to win 2 other games.

This year has to be the year for Mario bc we lose a lot of talent this year and we’ll probably have to go to the portal again at qb.

What’s happening now with commits doesn’t mean much until pen meets paper and the way this season plays out could really turn a few of the kids we wanted and lost back to us and do the same the other way if Mario has his usual November swoon…

I’m hoping that we can go out and beat Notre Dump to start the season and get through the season making it to the ACCCG.

I’ve gotten to the point like I’ve told you guys many times not expecting anything great to happen so when it doesn’t as has happened these last couple weeks I don’t get all down and discouraged but when something does happen to go our way I can enjoy the great news.

This makes it easier to go through recruiting season when your putting all your emotions on a 19-20 yr old kid who is being led around by a family member or handlers just using them to up their financial situation. This is why I say I don’t see why people want to jump all over someone that’s bringing info to the board. They’re bringing info of what he understands WILL happen because of what he’s being told then when it doesn’t happen at the last minute because the kid is led elsewhere by the people using him have gotten a bigger bag from someone else people want to call them names and belittle the person.

I’m hoping Cooper commits to us next Sunday but I won’t expect it so I won’t be all upset when/if he decides to go elsewhere but I’ll be as overjoyed and happy as anyone else if he decides to stay home .

I won’t sugarcoat it. I’m expecting more bad news, based on recent conversations. There isn’t much confidence on anyone right now, including Derrek Cooper.

I’ve thought we’d get him from the beginning, and still think we can flip him at some point. But we’re behind Texas headed into the announcement. And this is an absolute top priority recruit.

It seems a lot of kids still don’t believe in Miami. And the local players least of all. That’s understandable- they know us the best. Many of our fans don’t believe in us after two decades of disappointment.

The bottom line is we need to get over the hump. We were on the verge when we forgot to kneel against Georgia Tech. We were on the verge when we were up 21-0 on Syracuse. We need to get to the next level as a program to prove we aren’t the place dreams go to die.

Until then, we will be fighting a lot of uphill battles.

Oh well.
Off to the pool, barbecue and beer.
It's a rough life.
