Robert Stafford commits to the U

Eau Gallie (Melbourne) CB Robert Stafford gives Miami its third blue chip commit in the past week. He has solid size for a high school corner (5'11, 171), but his athletic background is what separates him. Last year, he caught 42 passes for 605 yards and 5 TDs at WR and also played hoops. His verified testing numbers confirm his athleticism: 4.54 laser (fastest at the camp), 34.5 inch vert (best in camp), 4.28 shuttle and a 122-inch broad jump that is above the NFL average for corners. He's also been timed as fast as 21.53 MPH.

If you're looking for a Miami comparison, his combination of twitch, quickness and overall coordination reminds me of Corn Elder or Sam Shields. Huge addition for the staff:

Gotta have 4 CBs this class. Think of all the guys we're losing. Stevenson-Blades-Ivey...and then we have Couch who could declare although he shouldn't. I might be missing someone but that's off the top.

I think they’re looking at six defensive backs as the number in this class. They see it as a good year for DB’s, new scheme, new DB coach who will want his guys.

Plus Porter might leave as well.

My only reservation is that it looks like he only used 4 OVs....didn't OV Georgia...hope that doesn't come back to bite us if UGA doesn't get someone that they're targeting at DB.

I've got that he took 4 OVs. Looks like UGA is the lone OV he held off on.

What we are seeing in OL recruiting is what really sticks out

I’ve said it a few times but OL ranking is tough to project but a lot of that is the kids aren’t physically mature yet so you’re betting on that part too

Our OL recruits are already there from a size standpoint and if they are teachable, that’s what is gonna matter to Mario and Mirabal

And of course stars matter but we also know how these lists get out there and then it just becomes gospel because no one wants to shift it around too much
