Robert Stafford commits to the U

Eau Gallie (Melbourne) CB Robert Stafford gives Miami its third blue chip commit in the past week. He has solid size for a high school corner (5'11, 171), but his athletic background is what separates him. Last year, he caught 42 passes for 605 yards and 5 TDs at WR and also played hoops. His verified testing numbers confirm his athleticism: 4.54 laser (fastest at the camp), 34.5 inch vert (best in camp), 4.28 shuttle and a 122-inch broad jump that is above the NFL average for corners. He's also been timed as fast as 21.53 MPH.

If you're looking for a Miami comparison, his combination of twitch, quickness and overall coordination reminds me of Corn Elder or Sam Shields. Huge addition for the staff:

Thanks bro! He certainly looks the part. Just to confirm, did he play the whole game on defense then at CB? Love that he's involved in every phase of the game, true ball player.

Yes, I’d say 50% of offensive snaps, 95% of defensive snaps at CB (he cramped up in the 4th and missed a few plays) and was returner on both kickoffs and punts.

Get him and Damari Brown at CB. That is an A haul. If you can get Cormani McClain, add a third CB and it is A+

That’s an A- maybe a B+. If that is an A, then what do you call Bama’s class? A++++? I would be happy with the Stafford and Damari but let’s keep it a 100.

Bama is going to sign an A+ CB class. Doesn’t mean not getting that isn’t an A. Are we really debating A-? Come on. Stafford/Brown would be as good as any CB class outside Alabama.

I'd honestly simply say he's an ATH 4-star at this point. Dynamic play-making abilities on both sides of the ball. You get him signed and on campus, then see where the pieces land after that.
