He’s not a 5 star. I’ve been saying it since the beginning. He has a ton of development to do and I don’t know if he’s going to be able to do it with his focus on basketball. This is not a miss here.
Agreed him and Evans are pretty similar archetypes, Russell is a little more polished though. Regardless, how good they become is gonna depend on their development and work they put in and both need a lot.

Russell wasnt even a diva recruitment.

dude took his officials, unofficials, and committed in July.

Dudes made his recruitment a diva recruitment because he didnt commit to UM as a legacy. If he were to flip from syracuse that would be his first flip.

We just got a commitment from a kid who claimed he is born an raised in louisville and Louisville to the core who flipped from Louisville to us a few mins ago lmao There is "divas" everywhere south fla doesnt have a hold on em....

Mario has done a GREAT JOB weeding through the b.s. and also not putting all the eggs in one basket like our other coaches do....for example we havent chased Calvin Russell or waited for a flip.....His spot has been long gone which is why i wonder why he is constantly brought up on here lol......My man Wingo, and Paris been in position.

They were ho hum on J Roc Lopez and grabbed Spafford early...

we arent sitting around on our thumbs anymore.
You know how this board is, Jordan Campbell was labeled the same way because he went on a couple visits. In this new NIL era, Campbell has been the longest tenured commitment I can remember.

When we locked up Paris like you said it was cooked with Russell. Personally, I would have maybe processed Evans for Petit or Russell if they had questions about Evans this year. Same time, I have not idea how funds are distributed so we probably could not afford them.

We would have taken Petit.

Idk if it’s been mentioned, but On3’s rankings which place less emphasis on ESPN have us with the number 8 class overall.

How do they put "less emphasis" on ESPN? Do they have a weighted average method? I thought all the services were weighted equally. You may very well be right, I'm just curious.

I don’t really know about demands but presumably his payment expectations are going to be met by somebody.

Yes. But that "somebody" may be some brand-new somebody, and not the schools he was interested in during his recruitment.

That's what makes him a diva. That and all the shameless efforts to belatedly signal to Miami that he wants to get back together again.

You don’t think the reason he delayed is because of a last minute push (e.g. someone upping their offer)?

Who?

Miami? We have 4 guys signed. If we didn't up our offer then, we're not doing so now.

Syracuse? Why would they bid against themselves?

If you can name any other serious competitors, please do so.

If true, it's got to be a NEW participant.

I don’t remember the exact numbers, and obviously it will have changed since On3 and Rivals merged, but On3 used to be something like 35/35/15/15% between the 4 sites, 247 was more 25 across the board

Okay so I actually just looked at On3’s website. It used to be 35/35/20(Rivals)/10(ESPN), apparently now it’s 33% across the board. So…. I’m not really sure anymore lol

Busch is a die hard Louisville fan?

****

Being a "diva" is about more than just flipping. Calvin Russell being defined as a "diva" is not about the number of times he flips.

It's about the comments he makes in interviews, the demands he makes during recruiting, the payment expectations, etc.

Whether it comes from himself or his mother, Calvin Russell has behaved like a diva during this recruitment.
Unless you’re involved directly can’t make definitive statement on who is or isn’t a diva. This eagerness to make judgments is wrong. So, a player signs with us & he’s not a diva, but if he backs out of commitment or signs elsewhere he’s a diva.

If people find him to be a legit top 10 WR he will have plenty of suitors. Roster capacity is no longer an issue.

FSU never minds the headcases.
