Welcome to the U!!! Kid has the ideal frame and athleticism to be a star DE in our 4-3 scheme. Already seems to possess a plethora of moves, which is very impressive for a high-school Junior. With him, D.J., Jackson and Bethel our DE's are gonna be eating QB's and RB's for the next few years.

Found this from tigernet.com a Clemson website.

"Clemson has offered 3-star 2017 strongside defensive end Jonathan Garvin from Lake Worth, FL (Oxbridge Academy) on Wednesday according to multiple reports.

Garvin has national offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Georgia, Iowa State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, South Florida, UCF, Virginia Tech, Western Michigan and South Carolina. He grew up a huge fan of the in-state Hurricanes.

He was the defensive line MVP from The Opening Miami Regional back in March and will probably skyrocket up in the next recruiting rankings."

If Folden is here we NEVER get a kid like him...with that hodgepodge of d-line coRches he had.

We can be both excited and at the same time not trash every single thing the last staff did. If anything they left behind a talented defensive line. Now they will be better coached, but you're reaching.

Not trash everything the last staff did? Lol. You wonder why jimbo said my Miami was making a big mistake letting someone like al golden go? Nobody in cfb wanted to see al golden go.

Figure it out.

I don't even think J Wright is all in on football. Not a big deal if he doesn't sign. If Larranag wants him though he's coming in under football

Florida's Fifth-Ranked Defensive End, Jonathan Garvin, Commits to the Miami Hurricanes - Football Recruiting - Scout

Florida's No. 5 DE Commits to the Hurricanes
By Corey Bender

Lake Worth (Fla.) rising senior and the Sunshine State's fifth-ranked defensive end, Jonathan Garvin, has committed to the Miami Hurricanes, as first reported by Scout.

There's not a whole lot of people that saw it coming on Monday morning, so don't be ashamed if you're one of those Miami (Fl) fans that felt somewhat unprepared once news broke of Jonathan Garvin's commitment to Mark Richt and the Hurricanes.

Garvin, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound rising senior and Scout's fifth-ranked defensive end in the state of Florida, committed to the in-state program over a plethora of additional offers, including Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee and South Carolina.

This prized edge rusher, who recently transferred back to Lake Worth High after spending his junior campaign at the West Palm Beach Oxbridge Academy, really had his coming out party earlier in the year at The Opening Miami Regional, where he also walked away with defensive line MVP honors.

Clemson had been trending in Garvin's recruitment for a number of months, but when it was all said and done, Garvin collected his thoughts and opted to live out his dreams by pledging to the childhood favorite school.

"I've just loved them from birth," Garvin told Scout. "I just grew up loving Miami, and that's just our team, especially down here in South Florida.

"That's what I've been waiting on forever."

Garvin is also tabbed as the South's 12th-ranked defensive end, as well as the 33rd-ranked defensive end in the nation.

Evaluation Notes:

Garvin is a prospect who is a natural coming off the edge. In college he could be used as a hybrid with the ability to play standing up or with his hand in the dirt. He has a nice first step and he closes on the quarterback well.

He is a long athlete who can cover a lot of ground. He can still improve his moves, but he works his hands, and he stays active. He is at his best when turned loose to pursue the quarterback.

Garvin is lanky with a great frame to pack on weight over the next couple of years. He plays with intriguing finesse and athleticism at defensive end. Garvin, who also flashes active hands, is a natural on the edge.

One thing I noticed... Strong hands. How many times have we seen QBs get away from our D-linemen? This kid looks like he has very strong hands.

Plus we have the best Dline coach in the country!

Just from watching highlights the kid looks really raw. Tackles with hands and not shoulder. Seems awkward moving around. Does not break down when back is about to cut. Raw pass rush moves. Does not set the line on sweep plays and can get hooked easy.

With that said the kid is no doubt 6'4. Strong hands. Is fast and has a large wing span and able to keep people from getting their hands on him. Great motor. Seems really excited to be out there. These are all things you can not coach. Let's hope he has really grown into that body and can redshirt so we do not have to see him for another 2-3 years. Got to trust Kool on this one.

I do not put a lot of stock into DL's in camps over the summer. Most are not wearing pads and they have full room to roam around an OL on one on ones. Not close to game like situation. If he was going around Leatherwood in camps you got my attention.

He was a tremendous WR:dread:
**** where I been? this school is not far from me. I was at the canes scrimmage over there too. Good to see Miami getting back heavy in PBC, this kid, Homer, AR15, McDermott etc. Hopefully we get Carter from Dwyer as well. UF, FSU and sec schools been cleaning up the last decade or so with the stand out players. Richt not having it.

Carter goes to Palm Beach Gardens. I hated that school but don't get my alma mater mixed up with the hated rival Dwyer.

lol - I also am a PBG grad ('94). Last PFB grad on Canes roster was Brian Monroe I think.
