Miami nabs defensive end Jon Garvin

Miami's recruiting class just got stronger.

Lake Worth, Florida three-star defensive end Jonathan Garvin committed to the Miami Hurricanes today. Gavin is Miami's 19th commitment of the 2017 class, and joins D.J. Johnson as the second defensive end. Sources tell CanesInSight that Miami is most likely done recruiting the DE spot for this cycle.

Garvin, the 6-4, 230-pound rush end, has been a fast riser this summer receiving offers from Florida State and Mississippi State. The Hurricanes were also after Central's Owen Carney and Dillard's Jordan Wright at defensive end.

247sports.com rates Garvin as the 28th-best strongside defensive end in the country and the 90th-best player in Florida.

See prospects like Wright and Carney try to wait till NSD, and they dont have that luxury cause they are plan B and C kids for most programs...Garvin is a huge get buy he saw the writing on the wall..if he didnt commit, he was not goin to be in this class

This staff ain't playing those silly little kid games. This kid is highly regarded, has nice frame to build on, is fast for a DE and has that intensity I like. Very glad for his commitment. He and DJ a top notch DE class! Welcome to The U.

Carter goes to Palm Beach Gardens. I hated that school but don't get my alma mater mixed up with the hated rival Dwyer.

lol - I also am a PBG grad ('94). Last PFB grad on Canes roster was Brian Monroe I think.

Lol I always get them mixed up. That's some real hate right there. My best friend went to Dwyer, played basketball. Was pretty good. He was mid 90s as well. My bad mixing them up haha
