Lol at LSU thinking they’re more of a blueblood than we are. Neither of us are traditional bluebloods. Same with UGA. The three of us get lumped into that “modern blueblood” category that some random writers made up, but that isn’t really a thing.

Bag schools THRIVED off the cheating of underhanded untraceable cash deals. But more importantly, they thrived off not having an open market being forced to negotiate. They were able to low-ball athletes by offering cars & other non-fungibles that came at no cost to them.
Now that it's out in the open, they can't outbid the market & the result is schools like TTech, Miami, UCLA showing up outta nowhere & getting steals that were once reserved for a handful of teams.
NIL has also exposed that a lot of Coaches got by on program prestige to do their recruiting for them.
You give a relentless worker like Mario an unlimited War-chest, he's completely lapping the Coaches who are used to just getting 5-star commits because the logo on their polo.
+ MIA is a NC contender + MIA & S.FLA are one of the best places to live in the country
It's easy for fans to be reductionist & think most elite players are only picking a program based on NIL, but that's just not the case. Even pre-NIL most elite players were never picking a school based on bags alone; it was always based on a holistic range of factors.
Furthermore, bag chasers typically don't amount to much anyway; they end up sacrificing their long term potential for short term financial gain. In life if u try to cheat the game, the game is ultimately going to cheat u; that's how it works.

IMO we have the far better strategy regarding portal - but the 5-7ish impact portal players and to fill depth, but the vast majority should be HS studs in trenches combined with a couple 5stars and high 4stars at all the other positions sprinkled in every once in a while, and developmental prospects with great build all around the roster. Having to go get 20 out of the portal especially when you plan on being in the playoff - which if youre in CFP finals or semi finals that's literally when portal window is... Its just a lot of **** to deal with.
Id far prefer being consistently in that 4-7 range out of HS (with high avg And also volume) and also being in that 4-7 range out of portal due to low volume, but have a top like 3 ranking by avg rating. That's what we did this past year. And I'd bet it's what we do this next yr. Think we may get even fewer portal but I bet you they will be impact guys that matter.
Ang strategy that ignores (or places you consistently outside top 10) HS is dumb as **** Imo. Especially in the trenches

Pre-NIL the bag schools low balled players. We used to think $50,000 was a big number for a player to receive. NIL has proved that number was missing 1 or even 2 zeros. Coaches are paid 10 million, universities and conferences makes hundreds of millions, but players were making thousands and they were doing all the work.
I hope everyone who argues against NIL understands that the people and schools complaining liked the old model because they could pay players BELOW MARKET prices for their services. What has Nick Saban upset now is that players are actually making their true value. CFBi is the 2nd most popular sport in the country and the players/employees deserve to be paid accordingly.
LSU just took their OV weekend away; was supposed to be this weekend. Now they gotta bump out Alabama or South Carolina who are the next two afterwards (if he doesn’t commit to LSU this weekend)
So they gonna end up like FSU
