I agree with you, and this is precisely my point of why Sainteus isn't a take for us. By the time he develops, if he even does, he will be a Junior and already be playing for UCF or FAU. But ****, Im the furthest thing from a talent evaluator. I'm nothing compared to the rest of these guys in this thread.
You have to admit that Moten had a similar trajectory and it has worked out well. Now that is no guarantee for anyone else, but we shown good development recently at the same position.

Yes, but Moten's freshman year was 2022. He took a redshirt; played in only two games. But in 2023, he played in 9 games and he was clearly projected to play a ton in 2024 as Kelly, Moss, Archeampong, Harvey, Gore, Deen, Harrison-Hunte were all moving on. He knew he was going to be top 3-4 DT rotation. And when Moten came in, he was 6-3 300lb. I don't think Sainteus comes in that size (although he may; I mean he looks to be about 285 right now; but that still isn't 300lb). And he won't have a favorable depth chart like Moten inherited unless Moten, Jones, Scott, Blount, Russell, Simpson, move on. And the incoming Freshman class (Kennedy), and perhaps Jones and Johnson don't commit. That's down that depth chart. I just see a future portal in his future. I think he returns to FAU or plays for USF or UCF.

It’s a fair point. I know people have jumped all over you, but i hope you feel it’s been a good discussion (a few insults here and there but not too bad).

@P-Tizzle and @Dwinstitles

After watching his highlights, which are extensive for a Dlineman, what are you seeing that makes you question his abilities? I don’t know what the verified height and weight are, and I never accept the listed numbers as accurate. But putting that aside, he seems to play very hard and strong. So assuming his height and weight are in the ball park of what is listed, what do you see that he is lacking.

I ask because I don’t think we should ever criticize, or praise, without stating our own reasons based on what we see with our own eyes. Not to say you are wrong in your criticism, but just asking for clarification to better understand it.
Come on. We know this is a star wh*res thing. If the kid had 4 or 5 next to his name we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Quite possibly. And some people definitely put a lot more weight on rankings than others. But that doesn’t mean the skepticism is necessarily wrong. I’m going to defer to our coaches who seem to be very methodical in their recruiting approach as to which traits they seek in players, physical and mental. I’m also deferring to @KANE who definitely has a lot more experience with Dlinemen than me (I have none beyond being a fan and old), and his analysis.

How many stars did cooper have? He’s been pretty good even with being thrust into a starting role his freshman here that he probably shouldn’t have been if we had proper depth

With this kid's current offer list, combined with the senior season he's putting together, I would have to think he'll get his 4th star at some point in the recruit-ranking review process.

By the way, you're welcome D$ for making this particular thread trend.

I’ll say this: UGA competes for titles annually and they currently have the #2 ranked class. Their class contains 8 3-stars and 3 of those 8 are…. DL!

Can’t always go by stars in the trenches. This is where your evaluations count. I’d take a big, fast, strong, high motor 3 star OL/DL with good measurables who may have flown under the radar or is a late-bloomer over an undersized, unimpressive 4-star trench player any day.

I hate when yall let one person derail a thread..like we will see one day who is right or wrong but it doesn’t matter right now because he is a take for Mario…be happy for the kid and move along
How was this thread derailed? The thread topic was a HS player who committed to the U, and the discussion has been about his commitment.
