I would hate to see what y'all would be like if your kids were going through the recruiting process.

Just like recruits act entitled, I read through the board and think maybe some fans are acting entitled.

We all want Miami to succeed and win more titles. While I think we win 11 games this season, recruiting always comes down to winning. We win, we will get ballers. It's simple and easier said than done. To win a national title, we have to win our conference. So when it comes to recruiting in the current state that Miami is in. 6-6, 7-5, We can gripe and complain all we want. I want talent that can win the Coastal consistently. I think AG is doing a great job of getting ACC caliber talent here. Once we start winning the Coastal outright we will start cherry picking other states for NC caliber players.

Currently as bad as our defense is. We have enough talent to win the coastal. So that tells you about the level of our conference. The future of thd Coastal runs through Miami, VT, GT. For the Atlantic its looking like FSU, CLEMSON, NCST, Syracuse, to reach the ACCG.

So righy now gather talent to win the coastal. Then gather National Championship type players. It's a process folks.

For the smartasses on the board that hang on to every word ( there are quite a few of yall) I am not saying don't go after National Championship caliber players. Well duh, that's a given and if we land those types then we will get back to the NC hunt faster. So go after the big fish but remember we only need enough talent to beat up on the ACC first.

if you want to go through the recruiting process go through it. what if you tell a girl hey i want to be with you but dont pick no one else while im looking around, doesnt make sense if miami is where you want to be you have a chance that countless others dont. go ahead and commit to booket t like kirkland and thomas neither one of them went where they ultimately wanted to go

Ole Miss didn't win anything.. actually had a horrible season but they got NC caliber players last recruiting round. Weather its paying players, NCAA or whatever.. you don't win NC by aiming for conference championships first.

look at VTech, they pretty much ran our side of the conference and that was about it .

Let the kid go through the process, let him have his fun. If he wants to be a cane he will be a cane.

too much butt hurt in here

I understand you but you don't get to the title without winning your conference first. Most teams in the NC hunt that are upset it usually happens by an opponent within the conference or a rival if they are in different conferences.

See FSU, FLA, UGA, Oregon, TAMU, Stanford, Clemson, LSU, Louisville, KSU, OU, NW, Texas, ORST,Cincinnati, last season, if ANY of those teams win their conference and beat their rivals they woukd have played for the NC. Conference games are always the toughest. Win your conference, beat your rivals, and you are in there. That's why I said it's a process.

I couldn't use Miami because we always schedule some tough OOC games like KSU, ND(Rival), unlike most other big time schools who schedule opponents they feel they can beat and then win the conference. We always have tough OOC games. Even our future playing Nebraska. It's because Miami isn't scared of comp. Don't use the Michigan- Alabama or this season VT-Alabama games as proof for other conferences scheduling tough opponents. Mich and VT never stood a chance.

Explains why we sent out the Berrios offer. Ice was pulling some NONSENSE again.

The two aren't connected whatsoever...

I don't believe that for one second.

Why not? Berrios is a slot WR, Jackson is a DL or LB?

Hello? Who on earth was comparing the Berrios offer to Jackson?

The Berrios offer was tied to T. Harris's offer...seeing as they are both slot guys. Lice pulls a lice and starts getting wishy/washy...Golden offers Berios and tells T Harris to go fly a kite.

Wake me up when we get a significant recruit from BTW not named Brandon Harris who didn't require a job offer to good ol Lice in order to secure.

He's not a friend of the program. Just because he does a politically correct PUBLIC interview with someone from this site or another site doesn't change the history/facts.

Vtech isn't miami. Once we win we can get 5 stars easy

You can aim for the ACC game before you jump to looking at NC game, but you CAN'T recruit for a coast championship game when trying to be relevant. Yes our #1 goal should be winning Coastal, Then Conference Champ, Then OB , then NC but recruiting does not work that way.

you have to always go for top guys. look at Duke, we webt 6-6 the year he committed I think.

Also, we had a coach that recruited based on stars, we all know what happened.

AND Vtech focused on developing players not relying on talent and stars. that is something Golden has brought to the table.

Look this kid has gotten this attention all of a sudden. Miami got its foot in the door early. If you suddenly realized all these schools might want you ,wouldnt anyone want to make a few trips to see other places?Lets not get bent out of shape. It might benefit us too. Lets see how this guy actually performs during a season. Its early yet.

It's a business decision. Go ahead and look around. But keep an eye on that roster because Al and Co. are filling the ship up fast.

I'm not blaming the kid. He's a kid.

The issue is the POS SoFla coaches that have an issue with Golden bc he is the white northern guy they got to clean up the embarrassment of Randy's tenure, and they legitimately feel randy shouldn't have been fired.

Quit with the race card... Why is it because Golden is white? Butch accomplished more with less and was criticized... Coker coached in two nc games and was criticized... And Randy has the exact same record as Godlen and was criticized mostly by the black coaches... Why is goldne absolved from criticism when he hasn't accomplished anything on the field... You know what type of atmosphere Miami is... We want to win... If you don't win you get all sorts of criticism... It has nothing to do with color because two of the 3 coaches I mentioned were more accomplished and white yet they were criticized... That being said, if Golden wins who cares... No coach, no street agent, uncle, dog etc. can persuade a kid to go anywhere... He'll be at the U because he wants to win... We need to win...

As for Randy being fired, I agree with you... they most likely felt he shouldn't have been fired but they realize the situation... You need to win at Miami... I heard Luke with my own ears give his opinion about Randy being fired... he stated that Randy was his friend and should have had one more year but you can't make any excuses for losing to a garbage school such as USF. He stated that Randy didn't win and you can't defend that... So lets not play the race card it all comes down to winning... Being white and from the north has nothing to do with it...

I have no confidence in our ability to pull a BTW recruit right now. None. I don't feel that way about any other school in the country. We seem to be making inroads at places we haven't traditionally gotten kids and I don't think that too many people are going to outwork Golden and his staff. Just not feeling it at all from BTW. Somebody wrote it earlier in the thread. Even a commitment from one of their kids to us, in the rare intance that we get one, doesn't hold up or seem to mean much. Signing day is a long way off, so I guess we'll see how things develop.

There is some truth to this above.

Look at Miramar and how things are changing.

If we pull Dixon out of Dwyer...marone.

But BTW seems to know how to use UM as a toilet.

lmao....dude u are so wrong its amazing.

Brandon Harris was a um LOCK before a job offer....You do know Ice sent his older son to um over a bunch of other schools..add to it Tim jr actually was a football player with REAL football offers who chose to go to um JUST to run track.

-Berrios offer isnt tied to Treon Harris..Treon is an athlete.kid can play qb,wr, or cb. His offer was there from jump and aint conditional..Berrios offer likely has something to do with Brandon Powell more or less.

Lol like Ice Has to be Politically Correct in the media or something..dude is a f*ckin HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH...um aint paying him any more, Booker T's money dont pay him much, dude been coaching in the city FOR YEARS when he didnt have to...his son is cashing NFL checks...he's good.

Some of u dudes that act liek b*tches really need to chil out and relax. This is recruiting...sh*t happens every **** year...its always positive do have a guy with connects and a quality program on your side, obviously Al Golden believes that as he reaches out to dude all the time. You punks just always on your period.

First thing, most people kill me here with the Ice Harris mess. Ice made his comments about Coach Golden concerning the Denver Kirkland situation and most didn't like them, I think he even felt afterward that he should have handled it differently but as for what he was really upset about, not many people can say that he was wrong. Before that situation, no one can say this man has done anything damaging to the UM program. He told UM that Matthew Thomas wasn't coming so this story that Thomas told them he was coming and Ice was in on it, isn't true.
Secondly, I don't think the kid Demetrius Jackson meant he was no longer committed to UM but that he wanted to focus on his season which is more important right now. This kid was committed to Arkansas for a week and went to Miami for a few hours on an official visit and changed his mind. That alone tells you he is just making knee jerk reactions because he's never been courted before. He has played high school football for one spring so he really don't really know much about the process. So with kids like that you just might get some situations like this. Is that Ice Harris' fault? No not at all.
Lastly, where do people get the idea that Berrios wasn't offered because of Treon Harris? Harris never gave Miami coaches an idea that he was coming there. Miami didn't even actively recruit him. They were never led to believe that he was interested. Most people on these boards make their own stories.

The problem is that those BTW kids EXPECT the offer to always be there from UM. A great deal of that is local pressure.

Hopefully Golden is getting to the point where he can say to these kids: "Look, we want you, but get aboard fast because another kid might take your offer".

I don't think he's there quite yet, but he's close.

You're so wrong it's pathetic.

Who the **** cares about BTW? We don't need BTW to have a good class or win a national title.

You're absolutely clueless if you don't think Brandon committing had something to do with Lice getting a job here. My bad..it was probably the biggest ******* coincidence in the history of coincidences.

Randy Shannon and Ice Harris are friend's for christ sake. He actually offered Harris a job at UM before Brandon's senior year at BTW but Ice didn't want to leave Brandon. Also, the man was the High School Coach of the Year in 2007. You trying to say he wasn't good enough to be on the UM staff? Some of you dudes kill me.

THe idea that berrios is linked to this bw situation is ridiculous, IMO.

Berrios got his offer because he blew up at the opening. He's a non-local kid who says UM is his dream school, but if we didnt offer and fast, we risked falling back in his priorities as others recruited him harder.

While I agree people get too worked up over the words of a kid, if my kid were going through the recruiting process I know one thing for sure. I wouldn't let some wanna-be big shot punk coach use my kid to try to make money or gain influence, as some other posters were saying happens (and they acted as if that were a valid excuse an an appropriate way for a HS coach to behave!). Just to clarify, I'm not saying Ice or anyone else is doing this, but if they are as those other posters stated and defended, then it's just plain wrong. My kid's recruiting would be about THE kid, HIS future, HIS skill set, not how some local HS coach who wants to act like the big shot in town can benefit from my kid's recruiting process.

Telling guys on a Miami recruiting forum that they're taking recruiting too seriously is like telling a guy at the Daytona 500 he's drinking too much beer.

What the **** do you expect?
