I know their safeties are well regarded but how are their CBs/LBs, @SouthParkCane ?

As for Flagg, yall better get used to seeing him out there plenty - him and Steed. I shudder to think at Flagg or Steed being matched up against Achane will look like. I'm hoping that 11/17 being in there at the same time is very limited. Flagg/Steed/Ivey will be major liabilities b/c of the speed factor this weekend.
CB’s are talented but I wouldn’t say any of them are ball hawks. They are disciplined and aggressive. And can be beat deep, they’ll jump out routes and underneath stuff all night

Advantage Hurricanes imo.

If our D-line can get pressure, he'll force some errand throws. I'd rather him than King back there.

He is a statue, but he is battle tested, has won some big games and likely won’t be as rattled and prone to make bad decisions. We can definitely get after him and won’t have to worry as much about them clearing out to make runs for him. JMO.

Boom there ya go. I think Weigman gets reps maybe as well

I have my thoughts, but do you think that changes much for them in terms of overall offensive efficiency and big play ability? I understand it’s difficult for them to get any worse there than they have been the past 2 weeks, but he is no threat to run and completely immobile. On the other hand, he is also check down Charlie and isn’t as likely to make a mistake that the King kid would have. How bad was he though for King to beat him out initially? He also lacks a live arm from what I remember, I can’t see him lighting us up deep although Jimbo’s O doesn’t really call for that much.

We need to get after his *** because he is a statue ala Hornibrook from FSU and formerly Wisconsin a few years back.

App State depended on a crap load of third down conversions to keep drives alive. Yet they still only averaged in the 3’s ypc and scored 17 points. With all the breaks , third down conversions , dominating time of possession , they scored 17 points. They won every important stat Including turnovers, while having none. With all that the score was 17-14. We can’t depend on that and getting a horrible offensive showing by Tamu. In a game they’ll be focused and not looking past the opponent.

We must stretch the field first and foremost, or the run is out the window. Rather if it’s a te down the seam or K Smith on a go. We will have to back them off and make them respect those guys.
The seams, wheel routes, tes out of the backfield. Pull no punches!

Bingo. People are putting way too much into that game and using it to compare Miami to AM. Everything that needs to happen for an epic upset happened last Saturday. Including a big game the week after the g5 opponent. The amount of things that had to happen for that upset to transpire is pretty nuts.
I agree. We’re going to see a totally different ATM team this week, they will be highly motivated and will bring their best effort. Even though their QB play has been abysmal, they have a lot of talent at WR, RB and an experienced OL.
We need contain their QB and our corners NEED to show up this game, make them one dimensional.

If we’re seeing Ivey get torched over the top and flail around while their speedy receivers run by him, we will lose big. (This my biggest concern)

We’ll need to bring the same energy and limit mistakes, get one or two turn overs on defense and we should come out of there with a victory.

Well with Max starting my strategy on d changes lol.
They have an advantage by concealing the starter. Never easy to prepare for multiple Quarterbacks. I'm sure no matter who starts they will roll out additional Quarterback/s. Personally I hope King gets the majority of the reps. Johnson will be more calculated vs our secondary.

Strange game, I have little feel for it based on the games both teams have played. My guess is they are going to try and bully us with their running and short passing game. Make our LBs and DBs tackle in space. On defense I think they try take away our running and short passing by putting lots of guys in the box and getting after TVD. Forcing our WRs to win one v. one battles with their DBs on the outside and down the field.

It changes their passing game to the backs yeah.. he’s actually really good with his timing on throws to them and knowing when to take them. And he’s comfortable throwing deep to Stewart. But they can’t protect him.. and he won’t ever go off script. Keep everything in front he can’t beat us

This is a huge deal. Aside from the short Richt era, we haven’t had a coaching staff that’s been there and done that in a long time. Even the Richt era, aside from himself, the staff was inexperienced. What we are dealing with now is another level. Our top three guys (HC, OC & DC) have all been on the big stage with the same coaching titles as now and done it; this isn’t new for them. That level of experience from the top down is something new for us. Hopefully it makes a difference.
100%

Fact is every time we’ve played a semi decent team we have been playing from behind from the jump simply because we were outcoached

Too many things not in our favor to realistically think we have a shot.

Offense:

TVD has been pretty average to start the year
OL can’t pass off a simple single LB blitz correctly
Our most trusted WR is OUT.

Defense:

Contain is a major issue after two weeks
Matching up will be difficult. We lack speed
Ivey

Road game with a sellout crowd against an SEC foe.
0-4 against the LAST 4 SEC opponents.

I’d be shocked if we keep it close. This has the potential to be a boat race early.
