Gotta approach ATM with respect. The whole world is down on them. Like I said before, a hurt dog will bite. They won’t be easy, if at all.

Jimbo is notorious for stuff like this with the weak teams. Then actually coaching against us

OL can’t look like it did last year against FSU which is probably the best comparison in terms of the kind of pass rush TVD will see again. I hope we took a step forward but we won’t know until Saturday night. If TVD comes out hesitant and holds the ball for too long it’s going to be a long night.

Agreed. Come out loose and confident and we run away with this one. I think the biggest change with the OL is simply mindset and attention. Mario and Mirabel have transformed their thinking and Gattis has empowered them to maximize their physicality by his play design in the run game. These kids have always had the talent. Now they have the coaching, the attention and the proper belief.

We fuccin???

I haven‘t posted one of these in ages so I figured I’d give my two cents on Saturday.

1. Offensively and defensively Miami must be prepared for an early onslaught. This is a very talented team that’s been told for a week “ they suck , they’re soft and were overrated“. It should’ve been a very easy week for the coaches to get their attention. I expect early chunk play attempts to get the early KO.

2. Discipline. Games like this the small things matter, it can go from a leak to a full on tsunami and fast. Tackling in space is a must. Take away all cut back lanes and for god sakes keep contain. A&M has speed to turn a five yard hitch into a 80 yard TD. A missed tackle or blown assignment is how that happens. It’s cliche and not very **** but discipline is a must.

3.Make the qb a pocket passer. Regardless if it’s King or Weigman my goal would be to keep them in the pocket. Take notes from Mr Stoops last week. I’d mix things up from shell coverages to have eyes on the qb , not exposing the Mike in coverage and keeping things in front of the defense. If the DL is what we think it is give them a chance to get home. Maybe throw in some Cb / cat blitzes forcing the cb to the short side of the field. Lastly I’d drop a spy occasionally with one of our better athletes. If we blitz it’s a must they get home. Pick your moments.

4. Wr’s / te’s must make big plays. If we win this game it will be because the wr’s and te’s won some 1 v 1’s. We know AM will load the box and dare them to make plays. Playing in a phone booth against that front with a numbers advantage is a bad recipe. What we’ve seen the last couple weeks will not cut it schematically. That said I expect to see plenty of different looks with formations.

5. No layups. We can’t allow easy scores , regardless if it’s busted assignments , missed tackles and most importantly the return game. Ball security by the punt returners, TS , George or whoever is back there is a must. Catch the ball first!!!! This is an underrated area where losing X hurts.

6. RPO. Use more formations outside the hashes and heavy Rpo’s. It was obvious last year the biggest difference with the offense was the Rpo with Tvd versus King. He thrived in that area because of his quick decision making. We’ve also set the run up early in the season and haven’t used the te’s as well as the Rpo. This could be the perfect time to unleash both.

The biggest key is not having a catastrophe happen early , that could start the “ here we go again“ doubts to creep in. Drag the game out and put the pressure on them. Imo we need to play a good game and get a break or two to win this one. Hopefully we can end the streak of turds being laid in these big road games.
Shut down Achane the same way they shut down Gore. Make them one dimensional.

Their defense is going to be aggressive. Rooster and Parrish should feast on over the defense drop off passes from TVD. Atm will load the box and bring pressure. Rooster on a wheel route will quiet their stadium quickly.

This is the game all eyes will be on Gattis’s offense. His playbook will be on full display against atm. I think the TE’s and the RB’s feast in this game. I’m on team Gattis and I think his offense delivers big time in week 3.

And believe it or not they have more proven guys than us out there.

You mean to tell me Page and Wells are the proven kids that Texas A&M had to respect? B Smith, Ladson, and George all have similar stats. The rest of the App State kids have limited experience. Maybe ESPN stats isn’t showing the real stats.

This staff is proving to be a good second half team. So with that been said, if Miami goes into the half leading, I just don’t see TAMU winning.

They’re a run first team but you do know that offense just put up a 40 piece in a quarter on Unc? I’ve seen those guys make contested catches and get behind people the last two games. Next to X only K Smith has done much of anything. We’re running flea flickers against S Miss to help get separation. They won’t respect our skill guys , that’s the point. We have to make them pay or it’ll be a long day.

I re-watched the Southern Miss game last night; the first time I had seen it sober. If the OL doesn't improve drastically, we are in for a very long night. Shocking is the best word to describe the missed assignments particularly on the sacks taken by TVD. Simple DL stunts by Southern Miss were easily able to confuse our OL and leave them just standing there blocking air.

i predicted this kind of outcome before the season but unless we just turn the ball over multiple times idk if they blow us out
The difference between preseason and now is simply A&M got upset and many of our fans are drinking Kool Aid forgetting things like the first half against So Miss.

If we play the same way we did against So Miss, we’re in trouble. TVD should be throwing in the hotel lobby after his continental breakfast to get warm because we absolutely cannot have him lay a first half egg in this game.

This was my takeaway too after rewatch. I honestly didn’t think the play calls were bad or lopsided towards the run. We tried to run a handful of passes in the first half that broke down immediately and TVD had zero time. It got better in the second half but we may basically had to run to preserve TVD’s health at certain points lol.

It made it tough to get a good read on the vertical game because the pass rush seemingly never let TVD truly settle in. The hurry up allowed for that because it neutralized the D line, but ya it didn’t make me too hopeful for this weekend.

Agree on all points. Are we sure it's either King or Weigman that are playing and not Johnson at all?

I’m looking for a play action or RPO run fake with a double move route from either Key Smith or Frank Ladson. The run game of Parrish and Knighton will have the attention of A&M’s Safeties early, and their CBS like to jump short routes, so I’m expecting this play call in the first series hopefully. It’s gonna work.
