I’d be shocked if we keep it close. This has the potential to be a boat race early.
With how their offense has looked I just don’t see how that’s the case. Vegas also doesn’t see this as a high scoring game so doubt its a boat race regardless.

Too many things not in our favor to realistically think we have a shot.

Offense:

TVD has been pretty average to start the year
OL can’t pass off a simple single LB blitz correctly
Our most trusted WR is OUT.

Defense:

Contain is a major issue after two weeks
Matching up will be difficult. We lack speed

Road game with a sellout crowd against an SEC foe.
0-4 against the LAST 4 SEC opponents.

ATM hasn’t been lighting the world on fire either.
They got a lot of talent but they have not played well this season.
I think it’s going to be a close game.

Agree with everything you said except #4. I don't think A&M will load the box at all until our o-line proves it can get a push against their D-line. I think they only see us beating them if Tvd has the game of his life so they'll try to drop as many they can into coverage.

Great post, Cribby. Some other critical keys to this game:

1) Be Confident. Not ****y or show fake swag or stomp on their logo but rather quiet confidence that they lost to App State so they are beatable.

2) Play to Win. Forget trying to keep it close (that often leads to losing big anyway). They are beatable. Don't go into a shell & just run over & over. They've likely done extensive work this week on shoring up their run D anyway. They will want to take away our most dependable elements (Parrish, Thad & Rooster) and force our WRs & TEs to beat them. This would have been a losing strategy last year when we had Rambo & Harley. This year, it's probably the right call. TVD is still a great QB but our WRs aren't proven commodities yet. Open the playbook & let TVD make decisions based on what he's seeing.

3) Zero Dumb Penalties. This is a must. If they talk trash, show them who the bigger man is, smile & walk away. Do it for your teammates, your family, yourself & your school. No excessive celebration or taunting penalties. Let's not beat ourselves. This is critically important in what will be a highly charged environment.

4) More Arroyo!! For the love of God, please throw him the ball multiple times during this game. He'll average 15-18 yards per catch & can absolutely break their backs. He can also keep TVD protected. We MUST PLAY OUR BEST PLAYERS. Forget seniority & any other considerations. WIN THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS as it would be huge for the trajectory of the program.

5) Simply Distribute the Ball to Our Playmakers in Space. We have weapons at every position. We don't need to throw deep ten times in the game. TVD just needs to swing the ball out to Rooster in space & let him run. Dump it off to Parrish Jr. Hit Arroyo for a first down. Throw it to Brashard on a crosser. Intermediate throw to Key Smith. Keep the chains moving and rely on the most dependable targets. Do not waste a couple of series trying to run up the gut over & over.

6) Gang Tackle. Shut down Achane & the running game. Play disciplined ball on Defensive Line. Wrap up on tackles. There should be at least few hats involved on every tackle.

7) Let Them Make Mistakes. They will make some mistakes so if we can severely limit our penalties, focus on ball security & put some pressure on their QBs, we will likely be in plus territory and capitalize on their mistakes

8) Communication. Make sure OL, QB & WR are completely prepared from the 1st snap to handle the noise. No waiting to make adjustments at the half, be 100% ready going into the first snap.

Go Canes!

Take what they give us when we are on offense. No need for spectacular plays. Move the ball, move the chains, take points or field.position. Goal is to win the **** game, not espn highlights. Be smart, hammer them until they break. Oh sweet victory, thee is mine.

Once again….people giving way too much credit to a program that has sucked and lost bad games repeatedly for YEARS….an A&M team that will lose 4-5 games this year, assured. Is Miami any better? IDK, but there is very little to fear about this or any A&M team of the last 20-30 years. Cut the bull****. Perhaps Miami is still mediocre or just below average…..that’s truly the only way Miami would lose or get beat down by A&M.

This game isn’t about Texas A&M. It’s about Miami and where this program is at. A&M is at mediocrity, 8-4, 7-5. Where is Miami? We will find out Saturday. A&M ain’t ****

The difference in this game versus years past should be the coaching. We have a veteran staff that is supposed to be elite. This is why they earn their money.

Things should look different, scheme wise, from our first two games because this is a different opponent. If they don't then that's honestly a bad sign for the staff going forward. If it's a close game or we're winning by half time I would consider it a success from a preparation stand point.

I would love to win this game but if we lose because we don't have the horses, as opposed to the game plan, then I can live with that all day. That day will come.

That being said, just give Tyler a chance at the end of the game. That's all you can ask for. I would really love to see him have a winning drive and grow up in front of us like Dorsey against FSU.

i predicted this kind of outcome before the season but unless we just turn the ball over multiple times idk if they blow us out

The good thing about Gattis’ offense is it takes what the defense gives. If TAM loads the box I’m confident we pass until they are forced to drop a safety back. and then we run and try to wear them down. As I wrote earlier, Gattis believes that his offense can always win because every defense, save for UM 2001 and UGA 2021, has a weakness. This offense is meant to exploit the weakness in talent or scheme.

TAM defensive troubles may also be connected to the fact that last year’s DC is now the HC at Duke. He also coached their safeties so we may have a group that is now susceptible.

Not sure why everyone thinks their D-Line is so tough. Lots of 5* guys but they are all young.

yall are hyping texas a&m and calling out us. realistically we both aren't that great, it's going to be a low-scoring game and probably looking like a big 10 or late 2000s sec game. going to be close either way

I think our d-line will take over this gamr

All this is bull****z…who comes out and punches the other is the lead dog.

Is Miami is a dog or kitten? Canes have been irrelevant for some time. Why? Zero animals. Who delivers the ***** slap and says *** you? I’m taking your soul tonight…

When the Canes do this, then they’re back…you will know this in the first 10 minutes…

Too often we go into these games looking “not to lose” and end up playing tight. Obviously, discipline is non-negotiable, but if we are the underdogs, then being aggressive and taking the game to them is key. We are gonna have to throw haymakers to win. Can’t just cover up for twelve rounds and hope the other guys gets tired of punching.

Aye.

I've always said - the very best defense is an aggressive offense and an offensive, attacking defense.

Those who dare, win.

Field position will be critical. Special teams in general will be even more critical.

Very interested if Mario and Gattis play to win on offense and challenge them, or play not to lose. Would love to see them run a variation of the reverse play with Mallory down the sideline. He had several big gains with that play last year and scored twice I think. My guess is assTmouth will be waiting on that play. Perfect time to cross them up.
