Imagine how positive this fanbase would be if they'd fired Golden, hired Butch and then announced they'd signed a "Top 5 deal in college sports" with Adidas.

Instead nobody gives a **** because the cancer that is Golden is still here and the recruiting class is falling apart.

Forward Thinking and Accountability do NOT exist in the athletic department or with the admin/BOTs.

It’s a landmark deal, but it’s something strategically we’ve been looking at for five to six years. You see the scope of what’s happening at the University and the future direction. We know we hit a home run with this one. We base a lot of where…when we looked at those plans five, six years ago, what’s the one school you could have? It was here. The University of Miami given the rich tradition, the success on the field and also how that translates off the field to successes and what the brand means not only locally, but on a national basis. That’s why strategically it was such a great opportunity for us.

Does everyone smoke crack?

Here are a few interesting tidbits on the new deal...

**I'm told that Adidas has plans to make Miami the "Oregon" of their company. They will try a lot of new things with us, have a bunch of uniform combos stacked up for big games, and really try to push Miami into the forefront of their marketing campaign.

**People inside the equipment room hinted at the fact that Nike had become complacent with Miami. They weren't sending as much stuff as they had in the past and as a result, players would have to wear game-used materials. Schools like Florida State, Alabama, Clemson, etc. would get new shipments almost weekly. This did not sit well with Miami. (of course, money also plays a factor in this)

**As far as the designs go, I've heard Adidas will try to model the base uniforms after the 1980's. Mostly one color (orange, white, green) with the stripe around the sleeves.

**I have also heard of a black cleat concept with the eye of a hurricane popping out on the side of the shoe, which would look very cool.

Ultimately I still disagree with the switch, but it's one of those things that we would care less about if the state of the program was different. I also don't think it will "hurt" recruiting like some have suspected it will. Kids like new things, and Adidas will certainly be pushing to make Miami look different.

Not much of a fashionista, I leave that to the Feminazi in my life. But,
to add one more plus: Gore and Graham are Adidas clients and according
to Navarro could be seen in commercials promoting TheU and Adidas down
the road.

This times everything. Besides recruiting and coaching everything is going right for the program right now. If we had made a change and brought in Butch this would be the most exciting off-season ever.

Wonderful news. Lets hope they keep the white helmets and trash that other garbage.

i want an 80s style uniform with the original adidas logo

I read somewhere (don't remember where) that Nike was paying UM ~$2 million a year per their contract. Addidas came in and offered ~$9 million a year. UM went back to Nike and asked them to match. Nike refused so UM signed with Addidas.

As an older fan, I could not care any less about uniform combos. Even though I prefer the more traditional, more historic styled uni's (like from the 1980's), its clear that the athletes like having new stuff. If it helps recruiting and brings in more money for the incompetent fools at UM to mismanage, then Im all for it.

Hopefully they don't make us look like a euro soccer team.

How do they plan on making us 80s style uniforms while simultaneously planning to make us their Oregon? Those two statements don't jive. Bull**** detector is ringing loudly.

I mean he did write that the 'base' uniform is going to be modeled after the 80's uni's. Is it not possible to have a base uniform then other uniforms that are more like Oregon's style?

Agree with this. In fact, here is the Adidas statement on this topic: "We want to make sure we carry on the rich tradition and heritage that are already in the uniforms. But also throw a little splash in there, here and there throughout the course of the season." http://caneswatch.blog.palmbeachpos...s-about-miami-deal-with-adidas-chris-mcguire/

Pete's OP was not at all confusing.

money should go to football.. th school doesnt get that money if it werent for football

come on Ariz. you are an aspiring journalist. it is not was, but were. the subjunctive mood. "was" is the past tense of the verb to be ---> "i was at the game". subjective ---> "if i were going to the game, i could take you."

your Columbdumb English prof must be having a heart attack.

The fact that Blake talked w/ Al Golden about how felt wearing Adidas gear on the sideline according to Matt Porter vs. talking to him about our on-the-field and off-the-field issues is a huge problem w/ me.

Of course Nike could care less about us...we weren't giving them the return. We weren't in any spotlight. If I was them, I would've low-balled us as well. You become a top program, you get top dollar. I just hope Adidas enforces that the money that is given is used STRICTLY for athletic and athletic purposes only.

How can they make Miami the Oregon of Adidas when Adidas are **** and Nike is the best? Maybe after 1 more year of Al Golden we can be the Oregon of Converse.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people got so confused by that. There's a "base" design that our uniforms have, which is modeled on the 80's style, but there are also plenty of variations.

I don't want to be Oregon or #oregoneast. I want to be Miami.

So a team with 6 national titles in the last 30'ish years wants to be one with 0 NC's all time..

Seems to me Oregon is the new Miami while Miami is the old Oregon.
Meanwhile, Folden's dopey assistants are striving to become Oregon East. Sad ****. Have some fcking pride even if you have to fake the pride.
