bro jaelen wasnt even first team all-acc. I dont trust them lol
They will always favor team success over individual imo. p
“System” means he played a lot more plays which means more chances to get sacks, we ran a lot more plays. So that theory goes out the window.

He was the left tackle that never got help because of issues elsewhere. He was on an island every game and still graded out quite well. I was told from from somebody who watches more film on him than any message board fan it was amazing the jump he made in one year. Especially how raw he was and new to the position. Nobody would’ve thought a year later he’d grade out in the 90’s pass blocking in any game. He held up quite well on obvious pass downs by the numbers. I’m pretty sure one game was against the uva that’s highly thought of.

Some of y’all here rip these kids all off season , making jokes while they’re TRUE FRESHMEN!!! He then improves at an unreal rate then you poo poo it. I was posting all year how much he’d improved and was the best ol and I got laughed at by some, he was still “ below average “. Then the grades come out lol.

If I give props to an ol it’s because he deserves it, it’s the one grouping I pay extra attention to.

My point is what he did in one year while being put in an awful position was impressive. Like I said he showed up at 245 pounds and new to the position.

Does he have work to do and need improvement? Sure, big he’s going into his third year at the position and is arguably the best returning starter. He’s earned some praise doe
I don't think it is up for discussion if he improved. I think the part about being a projected early draft pick is premature. The system did not include the 10-15 plays Enos called with 7 and 9 step drops. We ran more plays but utilized the underneath passing game more.

We should be very good at OT this year with Williams and Zion. If Donaldson can return to form and we can shore up C and the other G, we could be on to something.

I don't know what you guys are all concerned about Bama edge players, just look at that depth chart, it ain't that scary.
I think the strength of that team in LB and S, like that team is good but they just pumped out a whole lot of talent.
We got a good team and this is gonna be a good game and I think to bring is back to @Cribby, Zion might do pretty well and show some of these critical fans that, this dude can play at a high level and his grade off this game is gonna be hella interesting.

but even then we were one of the better teams in the acc, at least top 5 and at this point jaelan seems to be a unanimous 1st rounder. But he is not all acc

@Cribby , I’ll gladly take Zion’s improvement last year and when he improves even more for 2021 then he will prove what some draft analysts are saying about his potential draft status. The key to the season will be how the other 4 OL spots grade out. I think at RT we’ll get serviceable play from Jarrid so the OT positions are set. Put Donaldson at RG and Campbell or Rivers as the LG. Then pray that we find an OC that will properly set the line calls and actually not be knocked backwards as soon as the ball is hiked. Can we find someone besides Gaynor is my question. If we can we have the makings of a really nice OL collectively.

I’m expecting Clark to win the OC job over Gaynor. Dude looks like he’s take a big jump strength wise this spring

I’m intrigued to see some of the kids who’s been allowed to start reactions to not starting anymore. Clark is one. The ol depth continues to improve so jobs will be harder to win.
I’m interested to see how it goes on both sides of the ball assuming that they’re going to really open it up everywhere.

Zion improved last year but a lot of that was due to system change and King being able to escape pressure. He wasn't even ACC Honorable mention so I would venture to say he needs to show a lot this season.
The system change helped but his biggest improvement was at the snap where his freshman year he was always late when the center snapped. It caused him to get beat before he even got in his hands on anyone.

Will anderson is a beast. Best freshman pass rusher in the country begs to differ.

I’m not sure why some idiots still **** on him because of his Fr year. He was easily the best and most consistent ol last year. If he improves run blocking he could most definitely get drafted in the first few rounds. Last year he graded out pretty **** good pass blocking, even be in the 90’s multiple times. If he can take the step from his first to second year then I don’t see why he can’t take an even bigger step this year.

Im amazed he’s as good as he is, he came in very raw, new to the position and 240 pounds. Now in year three there’s legit talk of getting drafted. Most raw guys who lack experience get a redshirt and sit 2-3 years. He deserves props and I’ll be rooting for him.

**** right, Cribby.

Basically he knows the plays and what to do now. You could tell last year as a freshman he was so late off the line sometimes that he had to have forgotten the snap count or play.
