Good DC tho...
Friends, I come to you in peace. As you may or may not be aware, UCF is giving serious consideration to Randy Shannon as Head Coach. What were your thoughts on his coaching abilities during his tenure at UM? What kind of program did he inherit? What were his strengths and weaknesses? Here are some comments I have already attained from Canes fans:
GOOD
* Great recruiter for the 305 and Florida in general
* Had some great defenses
BAD
* Too much of a players coach
* Teams were unprepared strategically and physically for games. Didn't develop talent very well

People need to understand that Randy wasn't ready to be the head guy at this program but you would be a fool to turn it down. He made many mistakes and didn't have the rolodex of coaches to turn too. Wasn't his fault the clowns running **** at Miami offered the job to him.
He has left the nest, is older now and has had time to sit back and think if he could do things different. I would be interested in seeing him get another chance somewhere. He maybe the same cat and tank it at said program, but hopefully he has grown and maybe he won't get stuck with a **** upper management team again if he does.
Prepare your self for:
-guys "flying around" in practice, every practice
-repeatedly hearing "It's like anything"
-players getting "nicked"
-at least two consecutive recruiting class where one position does not get recruited - i.e. QB
-no defensive back will be recruited unless he is 6'5"
-hope you never play Duke - he finds that stadium very intimidating

+1 Randy is about as orange & green as you can get. I hope he does well.
I agree what just about everything in this thread said about Randy. Whats really ****ed up is after all of his many faults.
Randy>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Al Golden.
At the time of UM, his pedigree was only UM and the Coker coaching tree, so he was not capable of purging bad habits due to lack of experience. He's since diversified with gigs at Arkansas and TCU, as well as UF. That has got to count for something, yes?
We need a solid recruiter. Are you guys for real that he was a mediocre recruiter? He out-recruited Golden statistically, but I know stats can sometimes be deceiving.
