You guys wanna know why Perry didn’t start last year?

They probably would have destroyed Perry if they threw him out there this year. Like I said before the season, there’s no question he has great talent. But that talent would have been useless if he was clueless out there.

I just hope Perry is a real student of the game and not another minimal prep guy.

based on what he just said, and what I've seen on tape of him he really desires to be great

malik don't give a ****

Not fair to say Malik did not give a *****. He cared, and his parents who attended some of the games cared. Yes, he tried and he did win 10 games and the Coastal, no way we do without him.

Crab Legs is a sociopath, but I hope Perry keeps working with him. He could learn a lot about preparation.

No UM quarterback ever watched more film than Ken Dorsey. Ken lived in the film room and probably knew more about opposing defenses than the coaches did.

He had to,,,,his physical abilities were fairly poor....he threw a ton of bad passes over his time that were masked by the dudes catching them....and the O-Line had to be almost super human because he had bricks for feet.

He was an outstanding college qb, but with the talent around him...wow.

He was a huge benefactor from the teams he played on. He wouldn't have been considered so great on just about any other team.

Not sure what the precedent is of a starting QB who helped guide his team to 10 wins loses his job the next year. Hey, I'll be happy if we get an accurate qb who can get us over the top. But I think everyone needs to pump the brakes thinking Richt will replace an incumbent starter. My personal opinion is Malik keeps the job, but is on a VERY short leash.

No way in he'll that Rosier starts another game here barring major injuries. Rosier is barely functional and this program needs and deserves a he'll of a lot more than that. If Perry is mentally ready he will be the guy unless Williams is some kind of prodigy. Barring major disaster the Rosier era is over.

Got Dorsey ******* e d up, we don't win a Natty if Kelly was the QB. Dorsey was a timing passer, which is what those offenses needed, how hard could it be to block for 3 seconds. While Kelly was more physically gifted, the offense was bipolar when He was behind Center.

I wouldn't be surprised if Weldon got into the competition

He has to lay off the weed first.

That never hurt Sean Taylor but playing for Coker is not like playing for Richt.

The expectations & excuses for this kid are mind blowing.

His Dad played for Richt & in the NFL...He was an EE...and He still couldn't crack 40% last Spring & Summer.

The only reason He's on the roster, is because Daddy played for Richt, and how does He reward Richt...by poppin' a pi$$ test.

That kid will never play a down for Miami.

From ITU

“It’s hard to pick out one thing I learned the most, but I definitely learned more than I ever known about football this year,” Perry said. “Before I got here I really didn’t know how to read defenses and coach Mark Richt and coach Jon Richt did a great job at teaching me that, but I also learned a lot of new skills about ball security and working on fundamentals.”

In particular, Perry said, “The main thing that they did was they taught me how to watch film. I didn’t know how to watch film before I got here. They taught me what I should look at and it’s really about repetition. You really got to be in the film room. It’s not really about game day. It’s more about preparation.”

He didnt know how to read defenses or watch film properly....imagine throwing that kid out there? He probably would’ve been picked apart like Blackman. He’s also 187 now and plans to add another 10 before the season.

anyone who saw his HS film knew he was raw. he played a lower level of comp and made crazy plays he would never make in ACC. the were smart to redshirt him. aside from these two golden holdovers, richt has been GREAT with qbs the last 20 years

True, but he still had to make good decisions with the ball.....and that was one of his strengths. For all his lack of physical ability, he was one of the headiest QBs we've had. We haven't had a QB who consistently makes good decisions since.

Yep. Teams have figured out that he can't beat them and know exactly how to game plan against him. See the Pitt game. It's over for him here.

As for Williams being a prodigy... Maybe. It's going to come down to who gets it right between the ears first. Him or Perry. If Williams has watched any game film, or is any kind of student of the game, he will probably be further along than Perry was when he enrolled. It will be fun to watch that battle.

Rivals...
There is no question Williams has a live arm and can fire it all over the field but on Day 1, the four-star Miami signee struggled with high throws and it didn’t get much better as the day went on. The Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett recruit was not missing receivers with overthrows that went uncaught but he was not hitting them in the numbers, either, and the ball sailed a few times more than the other quarterbacks. That might be a little nitpicky but all the quarterbacks were solid in an indoor setting. Williams did show nice accuracy throwing on the run but when he was standing in the pocket on numerous occasions the ball was not right on the money.

So, he was throwing catchable balls? Sounds good to me.
