I said the running game didn't cause that loss. Quit bringing up previous games. We literally, without exaggeration, lost on Saturday because of penalties and incompetence in completing passes.
I have to say, I respect the commitment to the bit. One way we might be able to overcome penalties and a few passing mistakes is by being more effective in other areas of the game.

We are running the ball as effectively as Temple with multiple NFL offensive linemen and you are completely unwilling to admit that is a concern.

You could do a draw or low risk play and see how it goes so it's not complaining to complain

So we have thousands of posts screaming about how bad the running game is.....

.....but we probably would have won if we had just tried a draw.

It’s Jagr man. I know better than to jump in here but I felt like some exercise. Now I’m good I’ve had enough. I could never keep pace with him, Cali or TOC. Those guys are relentless and know no hill they can’t climb and defend. 🤣

Yes, the whole offensive operation is ****, which is why it's so funny that people think we lost the game because we didn't try to go 40 yards in 25 seconds with no running game and a QB who throws interceptions.
We were pass blocking well. Spread the lanes and attack. You’d be amazed at how well that works for Cignetti.

If you want to run a different system, that would require changing things in practice. Not drawing up plays on a whiteboard with 25 seconds left.

Feels like Butch before we all loved him
I'm not a "butch da gawd" guy like some. But even back then we knew the team was missing 50 scholarships, the offense was a pretty big change that would take time, and the discipline had to be cleaned up from Coach E's tenure.

Did Butch lose some forehead slapping games? Yes. Should he have stayed and won his ring? Yes.

No. They run that system at times, until they clam up when Mario gets scared and go into bunch set mode. They can run it.

Lol not trying to win it in regulation? Playing not to lose… or win for that matter?
With all the things that went wrong to cause us to lose, yes, that is the most random and minor thing to post about for four days (and counting).

We had good pass protection on all of the interceptions and dropped passes and OL penalties as well.

Im talking about coaching decisions. I think the refs cost us the game in the end though I don’t think we should have been in a dogfight to begin with.

Let's walk thru it.

Lofton doesnt drop that TD, 4 more points.

Trader doesnt drop a dime, turns into a short field TD. 7 less points for SMU.

Refs dont call a crappy holding call on Mauigoa and dont pick up obvious holding/PI on SMU, they dont get ball to score the last 3 they need..OR Lightfoot doesnt get called for a terrible PF.

Thats 14 points players/refs had an impact on.

Not even bringing up multiple other calls like strip/sack or multiple after play PF's they didnt call on SMU, false starts they didnt call on them, PI on Toney where their CB got there early and had a hook around Toney's waist that would have kept drive going.

Welp, Mario chose Beck. Mario chose to come back with Emory as first man up after that bowl game last year. You win though.

You can’t stop Jagr, you can only hope to contain him.

It's disappointing that you keep making it about me. I'm not insulting anyone, not calling anyone stupid.

In any event, yes, Mario chose Beck and Williams. Without the ability to change that on a Saturday afternoon in Dallas, you have to go with what you have.

I remember during Harbaugh's tenure at Michigan he took a pay cut. Would Mario do the same?
Now that's a curious question. And that Harbaugh stuff was very public. Then again it is a public school vs. a private school.

Harbaugh's title run was based on mostly HS recruiting with a couple of key transfers sprinkled in. Mario is still hitting the portal every year for 15 guys like a new hire at Slappy Tech.

It’s worth trying

And we had a fairly good dayrunning the ball

And running the ball is only one possiblity.

You’re going out of your way to be a contrarian fool.
