You all see this during the game?

I recall a narrative of how a Eastern Newspaper man made his way out West in the 1800's, and he was stunned to learn that a man was about to be publicly hanged for horse theft. (In dry, desolate country, stealing a man's horse could leave him afoot - and lead to his death)

He was aghast: "You're hanging this man for stealing a HORSE?"

"Nope. We're hanging this man so that horses are not stolen."

Now do you get it?

Substitute stealing a horse for spitting on the sidewalk then the story is more accurate

The reason is because the celebration rules are not consistant. Thats why I dont like the call. In the FSU vs LSU game...Ontaria Wilson from FSU got the TD and ABSOLUTELY stood over the LSU defender and stared at him as he was stepping over him and no penalty was called for taunting. That is WAY more egregious then spiking a **** ball on YOUR side of field. (If he spiked it on Bethunes sidelines, then i would agree with the call).

These referees and the competition committee need to get consistancy with this stuff because its all over the place and the kids are just as confused. So you can dance in the end zone but you cant spike the ball on your side of the field? LOL. And that makes sense to the competition committee? I guess. (shrugs)
You can never spike the ball in College FB. It will be a 15 yard penalty every time...period.
Celebrate in smarter ways.

Kam spiked that btch 10 yards into the air- ticky tack, but at UM you can't leave those judgement calls up to the official. Mario is teaching these kids to 'act like you've been there'. Turnover-chain culture has not been completely washed out... but it will be.
Kid made a sick play. Got caught in the moment. Mario taught him a hard lesson but this has nothing to do with the chain.

I watched the televised replay of the game and even the color commentator ( a former Nole) said it was a bit overboard flagging Kinchens. It wasn't a taunt directed at any player. Maybe there's a specific "no spiking" rule but that seems really stupid.

I really despise over celebration. Like when a D line makes a tackle for a loss and sprints 10 yards and does some stupid action. Like call that.

However, now I'm gonna contradict myself. These rules are efffing dumb. It's almost as if their saying. Blinking your eyes is a 15 yard penalty now.

I dont even know what I'm trying to say at this point.

This was also shortly after the offsetting personal foul penalties on Flagg and a Bethune player - it's exactly what the team needed - a swift kick in the ***.
This I can agree with. It's not like he singled Kam out. He had a bunch of guys around him as he was dressing everyone down.

Although it was technically a penalty under the rules, the refs need to understand context. It was a BS call from that respect. But ultimately Mario was right, no reason to celebrate like that under those circumstances.

LSU DLineman regrets celebrating this past weekend.

Tore his ACL.

There is no such rule.

Bad call or not, this needs to happen now and be ironed out now and not in 11 days in College Station to start the game or even worse, a tight game in the 4th quarter. Don’t leave a **** thing up to human judgement, we all know how that ball bounces towards the orange and green.

Discipline works.

Just rewatching the game now. This is after the Kam interception and spiking the ball.

These boys are definitely in an adjustment period with this coaching staff.

I get the feeling this is something which Mario had been preparing for, knowing they were going to the stupid celebration bit and all, and waiting to give them **** over it in a game that wasn't going to be lost..for those who complain about playing these sort of opponents, this is one of many reasons.

What I loved the most was Coach KS measuring Mario’s ire and the kids’ reception of it. He seemed ready to intervene and protect his kids from total moral decimation from the event, if any.

The first quarter of the first game, Mario has to set a cultural foundation. He's been trying to do that with the media, "Is Miami back? Yeah, back to work." Now he's doing it with the team. Gone are the Texas-style games where we can rack up 150+ penalty yards and still blow someone out.
A game I assume Mario started on the OL…ironically.

But IIRC most of the penalties were on the defense.
