Went to watched about 40 condesed/Highlights games from different teams

Every **** team in the country has WRs getting 4 - 6 feet separation from from CB/S .. not to mention TE plays vs LB/S to not go crazy.

Every dawn team in America!

Now outside Horton(3 feet) and X being wide open vs ATM we got nothing, no separation at all with a OL giving time to drink a coffee and then throw the ball.

Is it talent? Is it scheme? Is it QB? All? Is ******* sickening

Truly I never seen anything like that ever except last year under Gattas 🤮

You're seeing what happens when you run three man patterns against defenses dropping 7 or 8 guys. It's also why protection has been great. They're blocking three or four defenders with 5 linemen, a tight end and a running back.

Agree... but have we recruited that bad that we have one of the most untalented WR ls in the country? Unbelievable
Of course not. While we don't have a superstar at WR, our group is definitely in the above average category. Restrepo and George are both very good route runners.

Good coaches can scheme mediocre guys open anyway. The nation's leader in receptions is a guy who plays for FAU. No disrespect to him or the Owls, but he's definitely not the most talented receiver in the country.

Noticed the same thing. Thought they were far too comfortable daring us to throw especialliy since we had time.

Colbie Young has 2 routes that he runs well.

Good Qb's can throw receivers open sometimes.

Simply not true especially in college. See OSU running shallow crosses for the last 10 years.
X and Jacolby are very good route runners and clearly great after the catch. They can’t throw the ball to themselves.
The question is what creates separation

To be honest, on Saturday Emory was very inaccurate. He missed on at 6 passes to receivers. Half of TVD interception were due to poor passes. Receivers are getting open "enough" for. Play to be made.

once defenses caught on they just played back and watched our receivers run to them. I saw separation during A and M when they were playing our wrs tight and on one on one matchups. So scheme certainly is the issue right now and our qb's inability to throw a forward pass consistently to the right guy.

Watch Oregon, they spread you way out, it basically is men on men, one missed tackle WR is gone. Our offense is literally 11 men in a phone booth. 3 WR's to the boundary, and its 2 runs, and then a flanker screens over and over. Oh, let's not forget when we send our 260 lb. Tight end out wide, you know the one we never pass to. I can't believe that Dawson is actually running his stuff. ****, the other team safeties are always within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, and we have trouble with Tempo, but we never speed anyone up. GT was shortening the game, since they didn't have depth, and we sat there and helped them shorten the game.

This. We are running 3v6 at best. Our outlets are all to the boundary so they really just have to rally up and tackle. There are no routes stressing the defense between the hashes vertically, so when people go zone they don’t have to do anything but sit and cover. That’s why you’ve seen so many cover 2 Corners fade back and make interceptions in the Cover 2 hole and why our deep posts are always double covered - we have no one stressing the linebackers or safeties because they are blocking with 7 or 8. I really think Mario would rather have his OL win PFF than put up points

If only we had a tight end who could stress the middle of a cover two defense. Oh wait, our tight end is a 38 year old tackle who can't catch.

It's an interesting question. I think the answer is yes, you can scheme open WRs and the reason is one basic fact- the WR knows where he is going, the CB doesn't. For extremely talented WRs the window where they are open is going to be longer than it will for less talented WRs (because the CBs will adjust accordingly). But even with less talented WRs, if the routes can keep the CB guessing, then there always be a window where the WR will be open. The trick is the QB needs to be get the ball there. With more talented WRs, the QB may have a couple extra tenths of a second to see that the WR is open. If you don't have a quick WR, then the QB needs to have muscle memory and throw to the precise spot where the WR should be open (this is what Leach was really good at scheming up).

Right... the talent argument could hold true against the teams with better defenses, but when we are not getting separation by any of our WRs on a consistent basis no matter who we play...

Our personnel decisions are so weird. Why do we bring X or Young in as an H back set to block kick outs when we have multiple tight ends in the room that can do that AND run routes. It boggles my mind, especially because we haven’t set anything up with that set where one of them goes to block and then takes off or even an end around. Just no creativity and not good use of personnel imo. Everyone is upset about our passing game (rightfully so) but our run game is boring af and is straight “red” blocking or pin-pull with no creativity. You can be a run first team and have some great sets and play calls. Philly, Miami, and Detroit are some of the best right now on Sundays
