It’s easier to just kill 2 birds with one stone by hiring a Coach who can do both.

There’s no need for the desperation of trying to hire a Coach that doesn’t really bring much more to the table than what we already have, who both isn’t that technically savvy at his position & will be coming into system that he’s never coached before.

I know this is a shock to the board, but there are other coaches who are just as good at recruiting AND can actually coach their position to effectiveness.
Thanks for this post. One would think this is obvious, but OMG

Do you think they could give Karl Dorell a look? Or do you think his career is pretty much done? Dude was one of the best WR coaches in the business

Karl Dorrell hasn’t been a college WR coach since 1994. He’s been a college HC multiple times since then, including last year. You think he wants to come in at 59 and be a WR coach at Miami? Think we have to use a little common sense here.

Because he was fired without cause before Dec. 31, 2024, Karl Dorrell is owed a buyout.

Per his contract, if fired on or before Dec. 31, 2022, he’s owed $11.4 million minus compensation “earned in base salary, supplemental salary, and incentive salary prior to the effective date of termination.”

  • Dec. 31, 2022: $11.4 million
  • Dec. 31, 2023: $7.8 million
  • Dec. 31, 2024: $4 million
If Dorrell obtains similar employment elsewhere – e.g., assistant coach, head coach, TV analyst – after he’s fired, but before Dec. 31, 2024, his buyout amount can be reduced based on his new income

I don’t see Dorrell working in football until that buyout money is paid out.

****, he would of been a **** good coach, not sure how good of a recruiter he is though but he's been a P5 HC twice so I imagine he's pretty good at it.

Are you suggesting that whatever minimal coaching he got at the Senior Bowl transformed him into a diff player? I don't know how the Senior Bowl works, but I can't imagine whatever coaching was happening there somehow magically unlocked his talent. As another poster stated, it makes more logical sense that the scheme and play calling was hindering him here and once he played in better set-up he was able to show off his talent more.
This….. ANNNDDDDD the big thing is that he realizes he got a lot of money sitting on the table. There was nothing the senior bowl coaches did to get him to play or block better, because they didn’t have enough time and a limited number of practices. They probably told him something like, “You either block his ***, or get your *** tf outta here! This is the NFL. You get it done, or we will find somebody that will. Understand”?!

He got demoted at UGA because he was an awful play caller & then Kirby chose Cortez Hankton over him.
Then he got demoted at TAMU & Jumbo chose Garrick McGee over him.

For the alleged greatest recruiter in South FL history & a supposed TE coaching extraordinaire, his career trajectory has pretty much the been same everywhere he’s been; recruits well, his position group sucks *** & then the HC looks to find someone that can actually do the job to a satisfactory level while moving this guy around because he doesn’t really bring anything to the table except as a salesman.

He’s a glorified Recruiting Director masquerading as a position coach.
…and that why I’ve been saying try to get him as a RB coach. Definitely a position where a great teacher of the position has the least impact.
