Not scared of Tech, but have to respect their commitment to talent acquisition, willingness to increase the budget, and aggressiveness. They not the only one, there are about 3-4 schools moving this way.

why wont it last? if every season, you commit to signing the best players in portal, who are power 4 ready physically, have body of work, no learning curve - why would it not last? It only falls apart if you take a year or two off from signing players. Portal players are much safer investment than high school kids who usually need 2 years of S&C before they can physically play, then we gotta see if they any good against other power 4 talent.
The new model is, bring in difference makers every year at positions of need. I feel real certain once again we’ll be discussing Texas Tech defensive line in November, and we’ll be hearing about IU, and how Lane turned LSU around in one year. The portal gives you a chance to be elite every year if you are willing to spend.

It’s called paying over market value for these kids. Which is fine, respect they are willing to put out the cash but not like we’re getting outrecruited due to lack of effort or relationships. Not sure many schools are willing to beat their offers right now. Is what it is.
This is the new normal. Schools willing to pay are going to line up 11 veteran studs who have proven themselves in high level competition. The Texas cartel schools and the IU’s are here to stay. I thought we were going to be super aggressive and press our advantage and momentum this offseason. Friday will tell a lot for us, but a lot of top end talent is off the board before we ever stepped entered the game.
