Wow! Koi Perich to portal

But we’re not though, lol. Plenty of visits have been announced publicly by both kids and these sites. So we are choosing who speaks up/what news gets out? Lol eh…

If this kid makes it to both TT and Oregon, I’ll be surprised if he visits us after that. Just based on how these things go with these big ticket guys 🤷🏾‍♂️.
Who knows man. At this point something is weird. Mario never puts recruiting on the back burner. But he’s also never been this close to a title.

This one seems weird though. Maybe weren’t in on him. The low hanging fruit was us or OSU. If it is us he’s definitely angling for a bigger bag.

100 percent.

My guess is that TT and Oregon will offer him more. We'll make a lower, but lucrative offer and hope his familiarity and past experience with Heatherman makes up the difference. It probably won't.

This is the new normal. Schools willing to pay are going to line up 11 veteran studs who have proven themselves in high level competition. The Texas cartel schools and the IU’s are here to stay. I thought we were going to be super aggressive and press our advantage and momentum this offseason. Friday will tell a lot for us, but a lot of top end talent is off the board before we ever stepped entered the game.
Sadly, this is unquestionably true. 😔

why wont it last? if every season, you commit to signing the best players in portal, who are power 4 ready physically, have body of work, no learning curve - why would it not last? It only falls apart if you take a year or two off from signing players. Portal players are much safer investment than high school kids who usually need 2 years of S&C before they can physically play, then we gotta see if they any good against other power 4 talent.

The new model is, bring in difference makers every year at positions of need. I feel real certain once again we’ll be discussing Texas Tech defensive line in November, and we’ll be hearing about IU, and how Lane turned LSU around in one year. The portal gives you a chance to be elite every year if you are willing to spend.
Texas tech was good enough to dominate a weak Big 12 conference but they weren’t going to be much of a problem for any cfp team outside of the two G5s and maybe Bama, not enough depth

Correct.

Relatedly, on-field success, coaching, and development all still matter in recruiting, but increasingly less. Money is the most important factor, and sometimes the only factor. The reason is many programs have great coaching staffs that develop players, but not every program offers the same amount of money.

So? Texas Tech only started committing serious resources to player acquisition last year . . . it's been 1 year.

Despite consistently good recruiting, it's taken Mario 4 years to get to the semi-finals.

I'm not knocking Mario. Point is, it might take Tech a few years before they get over the hump. Just because they didn't in year 1 doesn't mean they won't in year 2, 3, or 4.

Relax my guy I was strictly talking about this year, they have made strides thru the portal for sure and moving forward they’ll have to build depth thru the HS ranks to truly be a national title threat or they’ll keep going out like they did against Oregon this year. That game was never in doubt, Oregon just had more dudes

Miami fans are known to be be a very impatient bunch lol..we had these same meltdowns last cycle only for us to end up two wins away from a national title. If I came on here and said Miami was going to win a Natty after the last portal cycle I would’ve been laughed off of CIS(I still got clowned for being “overly” positive but whatever) . I’ll wait till the portal closes to judge like I did last time 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Don't agree. Indiana's roster is heavily portal-built. And they're still alive. Many ways to skin a cat.

Texas Tech's issue wasn't depth. It was QB. That's now been addressed.

Indiana is a product of great evaluations and legendary coaching from Cignetti I’ll tip my hat off to them it’s not an easy model to replicate. To do what he’s doing is unprecedented. It’s very impressive, we’ll see if it can bring home a title. As TT hey maybe you’re right we’ll see, their running game also looked putrid against Oregon .
