Mario’s, not Dawson’s. We had the lead, went into a shell. Had the lead again. Went into a shell. Had 4 chances from the 3 for a tie. Failed. And called a valuable timeout.

We get conservative when we have the lead and get tight when we need to make decisions.
that timeout was unreal. literally its fourth and goal and youre not close enough to run it in behind the center. take the flag (whch actually gives you more space to operate in the RZ) and save the timeout in the event you dont get it.

Give me the quarterback.

Look what Cam did for Gene Chizik?

Look what Vince Young did for Mack Brown?

Look what Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence did for Dabo

Look what Jameis Winston did for Jimbo Fisher?

I think the only hope for Mario to get to the next level is an elite talent at the QB position.

Nick, Urban and Kirby are probably the exceptions. And that kind of staff will never be at Miami. But you can find an elite quarterback. DeEriq King paid immediate dividends for a terrible staff excluding Lashlee

:ohlord: It’s going to be a loooooong offseason

No doubt coaches and training staff deserve blame for trotting him out injured.

He should’ve sat vs UVA & NC State.

TVD has a say. It’s his body. Why go out there operating at 50% and hurting your team and yourself? He had no risk of loosing his starting job if he’s hurt with the backups in place here.

Was his skin separating from his muscle during the GT game? Was it separating vs Louisville where he had a decent game?

Also, his attitude, body language and film review/behind the scenes work has nothing to do with his skin separating from his muscles.
**** crackers and our skin separating from our muscles!!!

Cant trust us mother****ers!

Going coaching staff because they could have gone in a different direction post-spring. Since we are talking UL, they took 3 portal kids over the summer for QB and signed a 4* QB in 2023.

Gil was flying around Saturday too.

Who cares. Miami is 6-5 with one to play.

Beat Boston College, go win the program's second bowl game since 2007, close on the recruiting trail, figure if Dawson is staying or going and rob the portal for some talent—most-notably a game-ready quarterback for 2024 so Williams can spend another year as backup and getting ready for 2025.

The last thing this rattled, irrational and overemotional fan base needs after 20 years of irrelevancy are hypotheticals about coaching staffs or different quarterbacks for 2023.

You really think a thread like this is going to be some logic-driven, think-tank experience where fans come together and work through what just unfolded this fall?
Nope..didnt think that for even a half of a second. JFC some of you dudes get angry at the dumbest s**t

Not going to believe Gil has a big impact here when his impact with a 10-1 team is 5 tackles, 2 of which were vs Miami. We needed QBs. Our LBers haven't been a massive issue outside of Flagg being slow.

Our LBs have been lacking in coverage. He could've helped in that area with his DB background.

Take any coaching staff you want. Any staff you think is the best in college football. Just for this team and this roster and this year.
OR
Any QB you think is the best in the country with this staff and roster.

Before the few who insist on using weird terms like "slurpers", I am not defending anybody. I am not trying to make a point that will get you all riled up. Just a question I thought of and curious what others thought...thats all.
Statistically the best QB in football right now is Jaden Daniels. That's 3,500 36 TDs and only 4 INTs with a 72% completion percentage. Daniels has also 1000 yards on the ground with 10 TDs. If we had that, oh boy. That said, LSU is 8-3 with blow out losses to FSU, Ole Miss & Alabama. I'm sure on the whole they have more talent than us.

The best news for you is you dont have to participate...move on if "you dont see any purpose"...its quite ok

fisher had great seasons with EJ Manuel.

Mack Brown was great with Colt McCoy

Lashlee turned TVD into an elite statistical QB as a frosh

Disagree:
Brown gave up 18 yard to Bruce (1st drive)
Kam gave up 23 yard to 85 (1st drive)
Kam gave up TD to 85 (1st drive TD)
Kam saved Brown/Couch with INT on Thrash running free
Kam missed tackle on Coleman when Couch/Davis took each other out (TD/58 yards)

3rd drive:
Flagg too slow to stop zone play and 23 runs through his hole for big gain.
Flagg looking at RB as QB keeps where he should have been for 8 yards.
Flagg gets pushed out of the hole for TD.

4th drive
Cloyd let his guy run free while pressing the QB. Kiki was late and JW was asleep.
Kam was late switching sides. 17 yard run.
Couch gives up big pass play to Bell with Kam/JWill in the area.
TE pass was either WES's man or a safeties (short but first down)
Brown missed tackle on WR and Flagg was too slow to get there to help get him down before he got 15 yards.
Blown coverage on JWill (both him and Kam were on the same guy leaving the OT in TE number wide open). Maybe it was Wayne's guy?

Not going to look at any more... too depressing. Overall, I don't see a ton of LBer's blowing coverage. I see lots of DB issues (no Porter...hmmm) and Flagg being generally too slow even if he is in the right spot. So much for PoPo or Bryant replacing him by mid-year.

Who’s fault is it that the QB room is a mess?

Better staff by a mile. Brohm wins 10 games with TVD. Lashlee probably wins 9+.

Saturday proved TVD, while still on one leg, is a good enough QB to win 9+ in the ACC.

subtle but important point your post raised:

it's not that TVD isn't good enough .... it's that he didn't play like he was.

no one can control the fact he has been hurt, but his struggles are not on his shoulders alone. let's just say that.
