Win Out.

Respectfully disagree with you.

If Richt really - REALLY wanted what's best for the program - he wouldn't have made a few of the hires he's made - and we'd already see some changes made.

We haven't.

Same crap, different week/month/year.

Wait. So you're telling me that Jon Richt wasn't the most qualified QB coach and that Thomas Brown wasn't filled with a breadth of offensive experience to help Richt put a dynamic offense on the field? I'm shocked.

I understand the GIGANTIC risk you take in firing a coach midway through his third season when 1) last year he gave us our first 10-win season since 2003; 2) brought in a top 10 class last year; and 3) has a top 5 class in 2020.

To me, you run the risk of alienating any good potential replacement because anyone is going to want more than three years to mold the program. You also run the major risk of getting an Al Golden as your replacement and having to do the entire thing over again in 2025.

We all see the issues and we all want the program to do what's best. I'm not a blind Richt "follower." But the guy was an Aaron Murray completion away from winning the national championship in 2012 (UGA was beating ND that year), has had 10 double-digit win seasons since 2001, and we're coming off the worst period of coaching in the program's history. I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater yet, and I don't think that's an unjustifiable position at this juncture.

We can disagree, man. It's okay. It just doesn't need to get personal is all I'm saying.

You lost me at point 3. We're still in the 2019 recruiting cycle. Things change on a day-to-day basis in recruiting. To count on all of those kids sticking by their commitment is not a good idea. We at one point had the #1 class in 2017 or 2018 and didn't even up with a top 5 class.

I'm not on the fire Richt bandwagon....yet, more like 99% on it. But Richt's comments these past few weeks let you know that he's likely not making any staff shake ups. And once we roll into next season doing the same thing that isn't working, that extra 1% is kicking in.

UVA will likely attain the very goal that UM fans set out for their team this season.... winning the CoaRstal. BC will finish no worse than 9-3. Both teams will be ranked coming into bowl season.

Miami and Virginia hired their respective coaches at the same time. As bad as the Golden era was, Bronco didn't take over anywhere close to the best team in this respect.

I don't care about their records, my eyes tell me that UVA and BC are not good football teams (UVA is f'ing terrible and has a QB who may actually throw worse than Malik)
UVA had a few decent players on O and D. That game was epic fail on coaching staff. UVA qb was God awful. Its gonna take some time to erase that embarrassment from memory.

Virginia's QB was playing with a dislocated pinky in our game. That's why he looked worst.

the administration has fried the fan base where we are used to losing and 5-3 is okay, its unbelievable what has happened to the fans. This **** has been unacceptable since Butch left.

I'm still ****ed about the Patke hire. No defending that.. but I'm all for winning out, getting a ST coach & change our offensive philosophy. I want Richt to succeed for our sake and his.

I'll take UM's, coaching staff, roster and situation over UVA's going forward. We lost to UVA and BC and we will continue to struggle until we develop a QB and some O linemen who can hold their own. If you wanna root for UVA, go right ahead. I'll choose to be a Canes fan now, not just later.

I was at the BC game and they looked like a **** good team. Their O line is among the best Ive seen in CFB this year. AJ Dillion is a legit NFL beast. BC's only losses were a close one on the road at NC State and @ Purdue, who recently waxed Ohio State's ***.

UVA will likely win the Coastal. To say these are not good football teams is simply not a factual statement. They will both finish around 9-3 and be ranked coming into bowl season. Had UM beaten those teams, they would have been two quality wins for our resume. Cant have it both ways.

The juxtaposition of your two statements as it relates to the coaching staff contradict one another. I'll take UM's roster as well.

You can also be a condescending **** all you want, but I'm trying to figure out where in my post I said I became a UVA fan. I'm pointing out that Bronco was given a worst situation than Richt did at UVA. They both inherited their rosters at the same time. Yet, Bronco looks to have done an immense job improving his team where as with Richt, we're stuck particularly in OL and QB development which are the two most important units on an offense.

Our recruiting didn't even close out strong last year despite the 10-0 start and BCS bowl game appearance. That's becasue recruits who weren't on board since day 1 saw through our low calibre staff and soft schedule and decided to pass. Nothing about finishing this year beating perennial ACC also-rans is going to convince this year's crop to commit to us February. So save the argument for needing to win for the sake of recruiting.

What we need in order to recruit better and win games is major changes on both sides of the staff. If Richt understands that now, and a strong finish to the season doesn't convince him otherwise, then I hope we win and win big. But if not, we know Richt's ceiling and that will never be good enough.

It's not that simple of a decision.

Boston College is decent (good running back and OL I can agree there), but nothing Miami could not match up with athlete wise. Our defense is much better than theirs. Their OC thoroughly outperformed ours. Go rewatch their first three drives (all games are condensed on Youtube), the playcalling was tremendous.

Virginia is trash. Average defense with no vertical passing game on offense. With all due respect, winning the coastal is not an enormous feat this year.

If we had just a semi-competent offense/QB/OC, we would be 7-1 right now.

I know there's a ton of negativity on this board right now -- much of it deserved -- and many of you won't think it's possible.

But win the f*ck out.

I wrote on this thread earlier this season that the depth of our junior and senior classes just isn't there for us to compete with Top 10 programs this year. (Thread here: https://www.canesinsight.com/thread...cruiting-rankings-through-this-season.137034/). I believe this will be BY FAR the weakest team Richt will field during his Miami tenure (however long or short that will be), and that the younger depth coming up will get us closer to where we need to be.

I think last year (minus the final three games) showed us where we can be as a program. I think this year showed us what work remains before we get there (namely, matching our defensive aggressiveness on the offensive side of the football and upgrading the coaching staff to a level consistent with top 5 teams in the country). I think that good will come out of the lessons learned this year, and that the staff will make the changes necessary to get us back to dominating the Coastal and getting involved in the playoff picture.

But it starts with winning out. Get to 9-3, win the bowl game to finish with 10 wins, carry momentum into recruiting season, and come back with a fresh new look in 2019.

I'll be there cheering on the guys Saturday, as disappointed as I am. I hope the banners don't fly just yet -- we need to see if changes come at the end of the season before that should occur, and we need the kids to know the city's behind them.

Win out. Find a way.
Not happening.
