OK, so if mistakes were made, correct them. We can't go back in time.

Also, Mario's blueprint is centered entirely on recruiting. If Candle, or some other coach, wanted to bring his entire staff and Mario felt they wouldn't be able to recruit at the level he's expecting, then that could be an answer as to why he didn't go that route.

We need to find a happy medium, and I know we're all just trying to beat Duke and Middle Tenn State at this point, but Mario is looking at a natty for the ceiling here. We have 50 hurdles to clear before we get to that level, we all know it and Mario knows it, but the lifeblood of this program will be centered around recruiting, period. You cannot win a natty without multiple ~Top 5 classes. It's a proven fact. So if he interviews an OC, and the dude will only come if he's able to bring 5 assistants with him, and Mario doesn't believe those dudes will be able to recruit Top 5 talent, then he's going to move on. The only solution here is to find a competent OC who either has a staff of elite recruiters around him (very few and far between), or an OC who is essentially a "one man band" who might want to bring some analysts, perhaps a couple assistants and Mario can surround him with other elite recruiters.

Dan Mullen, come on down.
Who else on the current staff is a strong recruiter besides Mario? Addae and maybe Jo Saleva'a (or whatever his name is). Gattis certainly hasnt been a strong recruiter. Besides, if you are a top notch OC, that is half the battle of recruiting.

Why would you make the post title and the poll question exact opposites??? Half of the people voting "yes" probably think they were voting for "yes he's being replaced." OP was definitely one of the pollsters working on the 2016 election smh...

Glad to have you back posting. Cribby has said the same. Anything else you can share with us?
Cribby says so huh? Must be true then. In all honesty, there is zero percent Gattis returns. It doesn’t take a fake insider to figure that one out.

On the offensive side of the ball, Field and Kevin Smith are both considered good recruiters.

It’ll be difficult for even a great recruiter like Mario to recruit top 5 classes if this putrid product keeps on being trotted out there next season. He better get it right this time, or it’s curtains.

He’s being paid $8 million a year to make the decisions that put the program in the best spot to win games, or at least look like their improving, both of which were nonexistent this season.

He’s trying to put the cart before the horse. Hire a great OC. Let the guy bring in his coaches. Win games, and then with his reputation as a fantastic recruiter it’s a slam dunk that the top kids will want to come. His entire process has been backwards.

I guarantee you that if next season is anywhere close to the abomination that we’ve seen this season on the gridiron, there’s zero chance that he signs a top 10 class. Book it.

Wow more than half the board is absolutely dumb as ****. No surprise. Any way to see who voted for what?

Those that think he’ll be back are actually wishing for him to be back because they want Mario to fail. They’re going to be upset when he makes changes.

Bye Gattis, bye Ponce. Been done for weeks.
Sure hope that the ELITE replacement "has been done for weeks". I have friends, life long Canes fans, who now refuse to even watch the games on TV let alone go to games. If Gattis is back they won't need as much staff at Hard Rock, won't need the yellow lots. Sure hope "darkest before the dawn" applies here.

So did the OP intend for the trickeration to mislead people, as the subject line of the post and the wording of the poll are two completely different things?

I think we've all been jacked around.

I'm sure Smith is a better recruiter than he has been so far.. But he IS the only coach on staff that has not been credited with a single commitment. Not even as a secondary recruiter. Even Addae and Gattis are credited with getting Stafford and Joseph.

I get missing Baxter. Johnson is about to go to the school Smith left for Miami. Fletcher is still up in the air. But Kyron Jones?? Surely he's better than Kyron Jones.
