10-3 in year two with wins over the 13th and 3rd ranked team back to back.

First and only ACC champ appearance And straight out Division title.

All the while dealing with wife having cancer and then stricken with a debilitating disease and NO RESOURCES. Had to pay for much of the indoor facility.

Were things perfect? **** no, but my God, how many of us would kill to have what he gave us instead of what has been endured since he left?

Richt was the best coach we’ve had in 20 years. But, he made stubborn mistakes, like hiring his son. That said, his age and health issues derailed him more-so than his nepotism.

Richt was good for miami. Nothing but respect for him.

Health got in the way of his job and you have to take care of yourself and your family.

Looking back now, that 7-6 season, his last season had to be attributed to what was going on in his personal life. Had that man been healthy, had his wife been healthy, CMR would still be around and we would be in a good spot. I have no doubts. The only question is would the admin have come around to investing more. And how crazy is it, that with all of that, 7-6 was the bottom for him.

Love the guy. Obviously huge mistake hiring his son. It hurt my soul knowing he was so close to hiring Dave Aranda as his DC and we were outbid by LSU and ended up with Manny Diaz. We have an IPF thanks to him. He gave us a small taste of success within a large cycle of mediocrity. Much respect.
