Why is butch so special

Butch was not the greatest coach we ever had. BUT he was by far the best recruiter anybody ever had. Understand, he was a good coach. But we have had Howard and JJ before him. Those are coaches of legend. But Butch, in the mist of horrific ncaa punishment and huge scholarship restriction, put together a team, no an entire roster of NFL quality players beyond anything ever seen. What he put together makes those recent Bama teams look like high school players. We had All Pros seating on the bench as 3rd stringers until senior year. Look at our last NC team and take note of the SECOND team that could not get on the field. The names will jump out at you. Then realize that some of the players on the NC team, themselves were riding the wood behind buys who went in the !st round the year before. Butch put together enough talent for two super bowl teams. His roster was like having the great Cane teams of the 80's plus the Nole teams they beat all on one team. Oh, an Butch recruited those 80's teams for Jimmy Johnson and left the team Dennis won with too. So basically, Butch friggin Davis recruited every Miami Hurricane National Championship team except the first. Four NC teams. Four. That is why we kind of think three years after he gets here, we will be a slightly better team.

Because he's probably the best talent evaluator, bar none, ever, in college football.

Look at unc now versus when he was there. He was able to take lightly recruited players out of Florida like Jabari price and turn them into 4 year starters.

There were questions about him on game day but nobody has an eye for talent like butch.

Butch has a great eye for HS talent.
 
His eye for talent is remarkable. He also has a proven track record of being able to not just identify talent but perhaps more importantly, develop it.
 
The man knows defense, period! Butch developed players such as Leon Lett, Chad Henning, and Tony Cassilas as defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys 3 SuperBowl Championsip teams in the early to mid 90s.

Won the Sugar Bowl in 2000 against Florida and should've been playing in the national title game in Oklahoma that season. Created the perfect team for Coker to win a national title the following seasons. And as much as people use the cloud excuse for Golden, Butch had to deal with crippling NCAA sanctions and not having a large amount of scholly's to work with. You're statistics are flawed.
 
Convincing. How come nobody wants to hire him, except for a few UM fans (with selective memories)? How did 'Cuse paste 66 on that defensive guru with a conference championship on the line?

Keep the excuses coming. That befuddled old man is not the answer...

unless, of course, the question is "who can do better than Goldie," in which case, just about anyone is the answer.
 
Why do some people light Butch up for leaving. Lying? Can't someone change their mind? I blame the UM administration for not presenting him with a fair contract. They were trying to make up for past contract mistakes.

contract was fair, dude lied and chased the money. No problem w/ putting family first but he needs to stop the BS and acting like he was a neglected house wife who was pushed to stray on her marriage.

Oh that's right you can't just another **** who just runs around parroting **** you heard someone else say w/out having a clue wth you're talking about. Maybe you can tell me more about the 50+ man roster we had in 97 while you're at it since you were all on board w/ the smart guy who claimed I was wrong for calling out that fallacy also lol. Like I said I have no problem with him chasing the money it's the American dream to take care of your family, but stop w/ the Butch was so wronged during his contract negotiation. I've posted multiple times already how Butch could have been here worry free if this was where he really wanted to be, but Butch and his agent always knew he was bouncing and wanted to be able to do it w/ the smallest penalty possible.

They were #3 but it was a much needed win to make people put away their pitch forks after the Cuse debacle. that's why as much as I always want to beat FSU, god help us all if these assclowns manage to do it (I don't even know if I want to live in a world where that's possible)

I'm not your personal researcher. All the information is out there to be found, and has been reiterated as recently as last week in a live radio interview.
