Why didn't Perry get in the Pitt game?

Winning games and championships are NOT as important as saving a redshirt of one player, who can leave his Jr year. Duh!!

There is no reason that Perry shouldn't have gotten playing time, red shirting him is useless.

Except the fact that he was so far behind when he enrolled it took him several months to come close to being half ready. No need in burning his shirt for one game when he's probably still not ready. Jeez.

Not really addressing your question bc I think the answer to it is obvious, but I was asking myself if Richt would have the balls (common sense) to pull the QB like Saban did at halftime.

I'm not sure he's the type to make that move.
I guess you missed the pitt game. Difference was alabamas backup came in and actually looked like he belonged on scholarship, ours came in and looked like he was throwing and ground hogs.

That's the first game I thought of actually. First, he didn't do it right out the gate at halftime like Saban did. Secondly, the situation was different being that Pitt was a regular season game. In a National Championship game, I don't think Richt has a quick hook like that. Seems like he's more of a dance with the person you came with type of guy. Not saying that's a good or bad thing.

Hopefully when we make it that far, nobody gets benched anyway. It's just a hypothetical scenario more than anything else.

Let's keep this simple. Obviously, some people don't understand what being ready means. Tua weighed 212lbs at 6'1" coming into the program. Perry weighed 176lbs at 6'4".

Tua's high school in Hawaii plays some serious ball.

Perry played street ball in Ocala.

Did Saban know his backup was ready? No, he took a leap of faith because he knew he couldn't win without throwing.
That's all we needed in the Pitt game. Someone who could complete a forward pass. Something a college QB should have been doing since maybe 6 years old. Regardless of "rating" or weight/height ration or some equally idiotic excuse on the spinning wheel of excuses

Perry is not ready. Why can't you comprehend this?
Yes sir Mr Saban, you're the expert

Glad you finally noticed. ;o)

How do you know if he is ready or not? Did Saban know his backup was ready? No, he took a leap of faith because he knew he couldn't win without throwing.

Or maybe, just maybe, Richt saw enough in practice to know Perry wasn't ready. The guy wasn't even close to ready when he arrived, and didn't start splitting second team snaps until bowl practices. The Pitt game was meaningless, and there's no way in **** you will ever convince me Perry leads us to a W against Clemson. That's delusional.

Yeah, there were some passes Perry MIGHT have made against Pitt that could have won us the game. There were also a ton of plays that could have negatively effected the team that an ill prepared QB could make in a game like that.

Clemson blows our doors off no matter who the QB was. Team was absolutely out of gas by the ACC Title game.

Sure thing Ms Cleo.
Luckily for those inbred Bama fans, Saban isn't scared or "burning" redshirts, or winning

if you guys didnt read the interview he had at the end of the year like everyone else, he didnt know how to read defenses, thats why he didnt play

Maybe, just maybe, Perry wasn't ready. Like rok said, he played street ball in Ocala. He weighed less than 180 coming in and admitted he never watched film before or knew how to read a defense.
