Why Butch, Pruitt, Schiano & Strong dont make sense

And one more item on Butch
- while he would be an interesting hire (especially over some of the other names mentioned) he has been out of football for 5 YEARS
- for the life of me I cant think of any coach that has been away from the game that long and come back .....ever
- and you cant say Urban - he actually was out of football for less than a year

And please don't tell me he turned down other offers --- their is zero evidence of that

If you are a big supporter of Butch you have to admit ....it is really strange for him to be out of the game for that long

Guess you never heard of Bill Snyder

Uhhhhhh, that was my point. Idgaf about making it to championship game, They LOST. The champions those years obviously held those spread geniuses to less points than they scored. #BBB

Auburn marched up and down the field on FSU's top-rated defense. The only reason they lost is because they scored too quickly at the end of the game. And Ohio St* is a spread team as well. They scored 42 pts on Bama's defense to get into the title game.

Spread does not equal Hal Mumme/Mike Leach Air Raid. You can still be a physical team and run the spread.

One of the main things the spread does is simplify reads for QBs, which allows them to play earlier.

I'm not against a pro style offense (whatever that means in this era), but I don't want to run pro style simply because of all the myths about the spread that need to die.

I'm a little concerned with whom Butch would hire to run his offense. At Miami he hired Coker and at UNC he hired John Shoop.

It doesn't matter when you have 20 first-round picks, but I'd like to have some kind of schematic advantage.

Well, consider what he's been doing recently.

Traveling the country. Not just on game day. He watches teams practice, he meets with coaches across the nation, he speaks with them and is on top of who's who - who's doing well, why, and how they're doing it.

I'd say Butch if hired today, already know who he'd be going after when it comes to his coordinators - and likely most of his position coaches.

I want butch davis to be hired next here as head coach so i can see him fail and then call all you wanna be talent evaluators out. But by then you will have new screen names and and switched to calling him out.

pro style so bad the pros only use it

Guess you haven't watched many NFL games lately.

This. The spread is all over the nfl now. Spread formations are the dominant set in the league. There was a segment on the nfl network about this. It talked about how pro normally trickles down to college but lately it's the other way around.
