Why Butch, Pruitt, Schiano & Strong dont make sense

I can't figure out why Butch Davis isn't coaching. Honestly, does anyone know why?

Because he is perceived as "dirty". People will argue if it's justified or not but at this stage and in this day and age, all it takes is perception.
Plus, he waited to long to coach....he's made himself a good talking head now.

Miami will hire the most politically correct coach as possible. That is requirement #1

My exact thoughts. All of these names people are throwing out are not even in the admins minds imo. They will most likely look for a "yes" man that can be controlled, not someone who will do his own thing. I think it either comes down to that or Butch.

No one is saying that you don't need an offense. ****'s Bells!

Louisiana Tech had the highest scoring offense in 2013 - but that didn't mean ****.

Marshall and West Virginia were ahead of FSU.

Then you look at the scoring defenses. That's when you start seeing who-hit-John.

Maybe I've just watched too much bad Miami defense over the past five years. It hurts my heart.

Golden had better offenses than Coker and Shannon did in 2005-2010. It's his defense and special teams that are historically bad.

Our offense will be fine with Kaaya the next two years, and there are pro-style arms in the pipeline. The quickest and most proven path to greatness is building a defense. The pieces are there.

Just look at the teams that are winning now a days its all offense, getting turnovers helps with the scoring defense, be aggressive on defense and score a ton of point no matter how much you are up by, offense wins games look at all the major games that are played all high scoring

The team that holds the other team to less points still wins.

Patterson is a defensive guy. D'Antonio is a defensive guy. Teams like Alabama, LSU, Georga and Ole Miss win with defense. FSU had the best defense in the country when they won it. Ohio State had a fast, Miami-type defense. It's still the most important factor in championships.

I'm not saying I don't want an exciting offense. I do. But if it doesn't come with great defense, I'm not interested.

No idea why you would want a conventional pro-style offense, its archaic. All the best offenses in the NFL now aren't "pro-style"

Duke 4 Heisman - Actually the spread did work for Auburn 13 and Oregon 14 - they got to the title game...... and I don't mean the ACC title game
- and by the way, the teams that beat them - their head coaches (Jimbo + Urban) are known as great O play callers - not coaches who are known for Defense ---- which was the point of the original post...... Go after a coach with a reputation of being Innovative so that if you are playing your 3rd string QB (Ohio State) you can still win

For the love of god

Pro-style doesn't mean I-formation. FSU was pro style with Winston and they still spread it out. How many times have you seen Miami's fullback this year?

Our offense is a selling point to QBs with NFL talent, which allows us to land guys like Kaaya and Allison.

I'd be open to a more college-type spread, but it's not the only way to play offense. And the guys we have now are pro-style studs.

I really dont care what Offense they run as long as the head coach is known for being great on that side of the ball .... no a D coach ....such as Charlie Strong or Will Muschamp

Patterson switched his offense to spread when he realized his pro wasnt going to work, and his teams give up points, gave up a ton to TT and baylor last year, ole miss gets turn overs and they run spread, OSU won because no one could stop their system and to this day no one can unless they shoot themselves in the foot, look at every team on top and all of them run spread and score a ton of points

I'm a little concerned with whom Butch would hire to run his offense. At Miami he hired Coker and at UNC he hired John Shoop.

It doesn't matter when you have 20 first-round picks, but I'd like to have some kind of schematic advantage.

"Outside a few dominant SEC teams"...yeah, who wants to be dominant. That would be terrible. What an awful identity for a team to have. That would be like trying to emulate our 2001 team. You and the BOT must be in the same book club.

Bring back Butch!

Go Canes!

This, ill take butch if he brings in a guy from TCU or baylor to run the offense

Uhhhhhh, that was my point. Idgaf about making it to championship game, They LOST. The champions those years obviously held those spread geniuses to less points than they scored. #BBB

+1. And I love Butch.

If you can't see the pressure that these offenses put on a defense then I don't know what to tell you.

and they lost to teams with head coaches knows as great offensive minds ----- NOT defensive minds.
