Who's a past player you wanted/thought would be great?

I had really high hopes for Jason McCullough. I thought Shabaka Abdul Majid and J Ina were sure things. Eugene Ridgley and Dennis Scott were huge disappointments as well along with Nick Ward.

Ditto fot Cameron Binion and Rod Mack. I was really expecting those guys to ball out along with Tavokios Bonner and Jared McClure.

IMO Zev Lumelski never lived up to all the hype. It was also incredibly frustrating the way that Carlos Etheridge never quite dominated like I thought he would.

In addition to those already mentioned, the one guy that always pops in my mind when stuff like this comes up is Wilbur Valdez. IIRC, Valdez came in with D lewis, Edge, and crew and that was around the time that I stumbled onto Grassy. I remember reading quotes from our players talking about how Valdez was a terror on the scout team as a freshman along with Damione Lewis. I remember thinking he was going to be our next great LB.

thought graig cooper and damien berry should have been way more effective. not their fault. and i havent seen any instincts from any d back besides howard in a while. theres just no meshing between the corners and safeties.

I thought Marcus Robinson would be a terror here.

gotta put up for Gavin Hardin as well. The emotional sideline scene and never being able to continue had to be brutal on him.

Kid was a tweener and never really put on the weight he needed to be any everydown DE.

Reginald Youngblood
Tervaris Johnson
Kylan Robinson
Robert Marve
C.J. Holton
Dyron Dye
Jalen Grimble
Dequan Ivery
Jacoby Briscoe

I played with CJ Holton, He was so overrated it was even funny. He was a huge Gator fan in school so i was shocked it was coming here. but the Gators never offered. They Wanted Nigel Bradham but Nigel said he wouldnt come unless CJ got an offer. He was trying to play the game to get CJ an offer but Nigel knew he was going to FSU the whole time. I really wish he would have stuck to FSU he just wasted a scholly here.

Don't think I've seen DT Adrian Wilson mentioned. He was supposed to be a man-child coming out of HS, the next great Cane DT.

Another would be RB Bobby Washington out of Killian. I thought he was going to be a stud. Still remember a buddy of mine, who was coaching Central's OL at the time, warned me he wouldn't amount to ****. He was dead on.

Of course need to mention Lance Leggett... ******* Christ.

The Weaver twins. I was hyped when they committed.

I would actually love to see MRob on this defense right now and see how we used him (no sarcasm). He put on the weight, but it was junk weight just like Telemaque.

Who? Tory Mitchell? I know the name. Probably fastest guy UM ever recruited.

But not faster than a speeding bullet.

Kid I really wanted was Dalvin Cook. And I really thought Aldarius Johnson and Deon Bush would be world beaters. I also really thought Perryman would explode at some point. Has and will always be a good player, but I always believed he would take the step to elite

Kyle Wright. I saw him play a handful of times in high school. I thought he would be a dominant QB here. Im still not sure why it didnt happen. Lots of little reasons rather than one issue IMO.

Happily and scarily - Brad Kaaya is the closest thing Ive seen at the high school level to Kyle Wright.

The receiving core was dwindling and after Olsen left, we were much weaker at tight end.

I knew Lance Leggett since he was a kid. His dad was a local track coach. Lance hit a big growth spurt. He was tall, fast and could really jump. I threw a him sick no look lob pass when he was trailing WAY behind on a fast break. He ran the play down and jumped a step or two over the free throw line and threw it down two handed. JUST NASTY!

He was a crazy athlete and should have been an Andre Johnson type. There was a serious lack of chemistry between him and Wright and it permeated the offense. I thought Lance was being a bit of a diva and it surprised me knowing his dad and how he was raised.

Tyrone Moss didn’t live up to the hype either and the entire offense underperformed.

I think the problem was Coker’s lack of experience and leadership. Those guys looked like they were turning on each other. Complacency and egotism can rear it’s ugly head in any successful program, especially when there is a coaching change to a guy who isn’t ready/as good. I know this from personal experience.

I think with Kyle it was the revolving door of O coordinators that killed his career. The problem was the assistant coaches after the peach bowl debacle against LSU. The problem was Coker and he sacrificed a lot of good coaches to save his own *** for one year. If Coker was fired instead like he should have been at the end of 05 and let’s say butch was hired back for example, I think Kyle would have won us a NC. Dude was that good before his mind got ****id up.
