Butch is the most proven program builder out of anyone on this list. The disrespect of not including him yet Herman (LOL) is an option.

Give me someone that understands the importance of the trenches and physicality. I would be very happy with Mario or Stoops.
Lol, with as much as you run that ********** of yours around here the past few years, that’s the best you come up with? Maybe we can ask the hairdo to come back.

I just want the best coach possible, IDC if he has previous HC experience or not. I want someone who can out scheme other coaches, I want someone extremely detailed oriented that has his players prepared for everything they see during the game. I want a coach who actually runs a complex offense and defense and recruits high IQ players, I'm so tired of watching Miami football players run around like chickens with there heads cut off. My Current Top 5 realistic list would be

1. Bill O Brien
2. Hugh Freeze
3. Joe Brady
4. Dan Lanning
5. Jim Leonhard
Leonhard is very interesting....no doubt the defense would be solid and technically sound (actually tackle people)...I'd like to know who he hires as OC because we know he's running the DEF.

Fickell would be legit. I want someone with head coaching experience, only exception would be Brady. I also want someone who has won a lot and over a few years. Lastly,I want someone who isn't a gaping ****** and will hold players accountable.

total career…….. wins and losses
MARIO Cristobal. Record 56-58
Lane Kiffin. Record 69- 40
Hugh Freeze record 63-40
Luke Fickle record 44-22
Bill O’Brien record 53-48
mark stoops.record 53-50
Jimmy was 29-25-1 before Miami
Dennis was 50-31-1 before Miami

Both were innovators of their time in different ways.. one on offense and one on defense. Jimmy liked the pro style offense here before him and it propelled him to the next level. Dennis liked the 4-3 defense and paired it with his spread offense and it took him to another level.

Butch identified and recruited better than anyone.

I’ve never been too much of a Cristobal guy, I think he’s a good coach & a good recruiter but I don’t really see too many scenarios where coming to Miami would make sense for him.

Unless he just really wanted to coach down here there’d be no reason for him to leave a much better situation in Oregon than to come down here, he has actual support from his Admin, he’s got unlimited booster money from Phil Knight & Northwest Nike Mafia up there & most importantly he doesn’t have to deal with any adversity or push back from media/fans etc up there in Eugene, they are willing to give him as much time as he needs & he won’t feel any heat at all. If he came to Miami he’d be on the hot seat after year 2 & would have everybody on his back if he didn’t win right away...

Plus, just look at the success he’s had since going to Oregon, why would he leave a successful program that he helped rejuvenate post Chip Kelly era only to come down to the **** whole in Coral Gables & deal with a BOT & Admin that doesn’t give two fcks about Football & literally only does the bare minimum just so they can keep status quo & spend the rest of their time on the Yacht & the Golf course? He’d be insane to leave Oregon to come Miami unless we triple his salary which we all know **** well they wouldn’t do that...
Spot on.

Schiano should get a serious interview.

Just my opinion and I’m sure to get a lot of hate here but I do believe he’s a better coach than Mario.

No nonsense coach that knows football and works hard.

If you want a smart disciplined team, I think this is the guy that is more realistic than a lot of the other coaches on the list.
Added him too (y)

I want Mario for a few reasons. I think he is a solid coach but may not have the highest ceiling on the list. Having said that, I think he would be at Miami for a long time. I don’t think any of the others will be here long term and I don’t have any confidence in the AD (hopefully it’s not Blake making the next hire) to hire coaches. in the past 20 years, we have not been able to hire a good coach. I don’t believe we will be able to make two good hires in a row so I am hoping someone comes in that will be here for the long term.

I also think there are a lot of examples where programs are struggling to hire the next great coach (Tennesse, Nebraska, USC, etc.). It’s not always as easy at we think to find the right coach.
how about at best a solid, competent head coach? that can't be impossible to find like we've made it seem with our past 4 terrible hires. bring in a solid, competent head coach who has already coached power 5 football, and you'll see instant results here with the talent base in miami's backyard.

Big 12 is going to be a mess, grab Gundy while he is tearing it up...JJ came from OK ST. Any other left behind coach from the big 12 might be a jewel!

I'm serious when I say that if I was the HC of the U I'd have a council of local HS coaches who recommend players.

You'd obviously have to filter out the ones that are just pushing their kids, but the question would simply be "who stood out when playing against you?" Those are the 3* (often undersized) dogs that we miss out on year-on-year.
Thing is, the most basic job of a staff is to know the local coaches and talk to them. If they don't know who the local coaches recommend, then they're not even trying. If they don't know who stood out in local FL games, then we're asleep at the switch. We should also know who the local scouts and talent eval types like. I'm sure we do. At least I hope so.

None of it matters unless you know what you're looking for. The issue isn't knowing what other people think. It's knowing how to evaluate, plain and simple. Coaches all have their biases and they don't know our needs like we should.

We miss out on local kids not because they're not on our radar. If our staff just read this board they'd know which kids we'll be discussing in a few years. The issue is we just don't evaluate or recruit well. At all. Especially at some key positions -- CB, LB, OL, WR, QB. Maybe WR and QB have been improved, but one year doesn't make a trend.

Good points.

Jamey Chadwell and Dave Clawson fit the mold of coaches who are doing things different and winning with it which is a bonus.

Can they recruit at high level in the trenches and against the top programs would be the question.

I like your way of thinking here.

I like Mario, but what y’all think about Dallas ex-HC Jason Garret? Haven’t seen his name mentioned. Only negative I think for him Is if he was successful here he would probably be back in the NFL shortly after turning around program. But He’s Offensive Minded coach with NFL head coaching experience. I also see recruits jumping at the chance to play for someone with NFL ties. I think Miami needs a coach with experience to lead a program especially if no changes are made at AD.

He’s a career loser/underachiever

Chadwell has less of a chance of being hired here than Urban Meyer
