but he won't win anything here either if Nick is still at Alabama either. also, hes basically a lock to get the Manning kid

Can make the playoffs, compete for conference championships here. Can't do that at Ole Miss.

I also don't think Arch is a lock to Ole Miss...plus Lane has a really good QB right now and just got blown off the field by Bama.

I don't think it's a pipe dream for him to have some interest in coming here.

greg isn't leaving NJ. he just bought his old house up there and moved his family back in. he knows hes set up there and won't leave again.
Because, like most coaches, he wants to win a championship. I understand it’s not the easiest sell in the world, but you have to pitch it in that manner.

Even assuming every person on that list was attainable and interested, anyone else feel like it is an underwhelming group? Fickell is the best coach on the list, but would he be a culture fit?

I’m not saying they will get hired here, we don’t have progressive thinkers to do a task like that let alone a fan base that would see it that way.

They just fit the bill of coaches to the post I replied too.

Chadwell will never work at a top tier P5 program

He will be regulated to dumps like Miss State, Arizona, etc

One thing with coaching is outside of Saban- no one is the hit or miss guy. All these coaches on the list have done good or great jobs at their schools overall. They have all also lost some head scratchers. That’s college football. Every time a game like Stanford upsetting Oregon occurs it becomes “see, Mario sucks”. Just an example, Im not all that sold on Mario.

At the end of it all, the ACC sucks. It’s beatable year in and year out. Just please get the one guy who has a record of being fundamentally sound, because guess what? Outside of Clemson, no one is more talented than us in the ACC. SO get a guy that comes in and teaches FUNDAMENTALLY sound football, disciplined football, and doesn’t try to force a scheme on his players, but instead, takes the players he has and builds the best scheme. You can start cranking out 10 win regular seasons each year with our talent playing fundamentally sound. Sure there will be upsets but if we know each year that 10 wins is the likely outcome? Then we start building it from there and eventually talent picks up, the players get better and the culture sets in and eventually you start competing for playoff spots.

What we are all tired of seeing is awful fundamentals. Schemes that don’t work and put us at a disadvantage. Schemes that are forced on players. Bad players playing over younger better players. All that stuff is fixable right now, but the staff is too stubborn. Just like Richt, just like Golden, just like Shannon. The day a coach is willing to put his pride aside and just win by any means will be the day we start rolling.

It’s not that Stanford upset Oregon it’s the way Cristobal botched the ending of the game

Upsets happen but Cristobal himself was the reason they lost. He did few years back against Stanford as well when he went full ****** and ran the hall when he could have just kneeled.

Dude botched Auburn game few years ago as well against a freshman Bo Nix, went full conservative with a Top 10 NFL pick, and decided to just run and waste clock

You guys can "DELETE" TOM HERMAN as a candidate since the University of Texas is paying him 15.4 Million for the next 3 years. He's now with the Bears as an analyst and basically does little to nothing. Miami would need to pay him 6-7 million per year to bring him here. Plus why in the world would you guys want a guy who struggled to develop talent and failed to win the BIG 12. I'll say this as many time as I have too Miami doesn't have a problem recruiting! We have a problem developing!

Yes, Tom Allen.

- Has recruited Florida well. His entire secondary are all Miami rejects or lightly recruited.
- Plays competitive games & very disciplined team. Very physical teams. Defensive coach.
- Spent a lot of time coaching high school and seems to understand kids & how to develop them.
- He is an Indiana boy & fairly cheap $3.9 million. Big 10 network. o-line/d-line.
- I just feel like he has Indiana as competitive as they can be or will ever be in that conference.
Was coming here to post this. Also has FL connections from his HS and USF time. Guy has fire and his teams would compete hard. Great defensive coach but also runs a modern offense. He would be a very good hire, probably first on my list if I’m the AD. IU just extended him but he probably would be interested.

I believe he has a HUGE buy-out (more than 20 mil), drops 50% after 1 December (still huge)

Well I'd delete him if he's content to sit as an analyst for three years banking $15m rather than putting himself forward for HC jobs.

That would tell me the fire has gone and he's not the guy you want leading your program.

You think this University has the commitment from the board to pay someone 6-7 million dollars per year?

Most coaches don't want to take a 3 year vacation. Also he is legally required to seek out coaching jobs (his contract has offset language and a "duty to mitigate"). If he decided to live in a boat and go fishing for 3 years, Texas could try to take back the money. If he is offered a P5 HC job and turns it down to remain an analyst making 40k per year, Texas could again claim he is violating the contract. Would they be that petty? After 1 year, probably not (reasonable to assume he may need time to evaluate his options, he doesn't have to take a D2 HC job immediately just because it's offered). After two years? Yes, I think Texas would want its 5 million back. If Miami or USC hired him, he doesn't lose his buyout, it's just offset by his new salary. Miami would not need to pay him 6-7 million. He recently got fired from Texas, his market value isnt 6- 7 million. If a P5 offered him 2.5 mil per year, IMO that would be fair compensation and Texas would still need to pay the other 2.5 mil.
