Who would you compare Stacy Coley to?

Coley is special in his own right but if had to compare...

Mike Wallace is probably the best comparison. Neither has the greatest hands (Go ahead and kill me for saying it, but its true). But Coley is a better route runner at this point which is kind of sad for Wallace. Both have elite speed.

Desean Jackson is the closest comp...he's not even close to many of the comparisons offered in this thread. Andre Johnson? Santana Moss? LMAO

Yea I didn't quite understand the Andre Johnson or Santana Moss comparisons. I'd have to watch some more Desean and Chad Johnson highlights. Currently I'm somewhere between AJ Green, Deandre Hopkins or Sammy. (His hands still need a little work, but he seemed to improve later in the season. Doesn't have Sammy's quickness in moves. A lot of Hopkins highlights are him just catching the ball and running with speed. Didn't see a lot of maneuvering.) I feel like Coley's maneuvering is somewhere between AJ Green and Sammy though.

Agreed. I'm really having to stretch my imagination to make him fit with some of the suggested players. I guess Desean Jackson would be closest. Laughing at the comparisons to AJ who was 230 pounds at UM.

Stacey Coley is one of the smoothest receivers I've seen in a long long time. His ability to cut at almost full speed without losing a step and then accelerate to top speed in a couple of strides is lethal.

The game will be a lot slower for him this season. Praying Kaaya or Olsen can be poised enough to get him and the rest of our skill players the ball.

Honestly, .. no one

How about Torry Holt or a faster/quicker Chris Chambers?

I just don't get the Desean Jackson comparisons because Desean is not like a body control, ball skills receiver. Desean's a vertical and in space receiver.

After watching some of the highlights, I can definitely see the chad johnson comparisons. I can see some desean jackson as well, but I don't know if it's the closest, but there have been some really good comparisons imo.

I think someone people are also misjudging just how big Coley is. He is only 6'1" which removes a lot of the comparisons like Andre Johnson and Randy Moss. It's the one thing that makes me hesitant to even compare AJ Green as green is 6'4" I believe. I see his moves as smooth and subtle and quick acceleration for the run as opposed to someone who is more shifty with instant cuts.

Even though he hasn't played a down in the NFL yet, Sammy Watkins.
If Coley develops the nastiness and physical game Watkins has, he could be the best receiver in the NfL someday. Coley just needs to add some size and strength.

He's Chad Johnson...because of how smooth he is in and out of his cuts and routes. Chad is ELITE in that department.
Coley has more yac ability than Chad though.
umm...Coley as a true freshman can run a better route tree than Mike Wallace. Mike Wallace is a nine route specialist, thts it....thats it...im a dolphin fan..dude is really fast straight ahead. Clive Walford has more yac ability than that guy.

I'm feeling the Chad Johnson/Torrey Holt comparisons.......hes not Sammy Watkins...that guy's acceleration is crazy...and his route tree isnt special as Clemson doesnt run a whole bunch of routes in that offense. Andre Johnson is a bully wr...that beats people up...nah....so imma go with Chad.

I called him Chad when he was a jr in tha film killing guys in one on one's for sf express. People forget how deadly Ocho was...because he never was a burner...but he just did guys up running routes when he was at the top of his game....but also got by guys on the deep ball

This. His route running and running style are exactly the same

Jerry rice all day

I thought the Jerry Rice comparison might be ridiculous, but after watching some highlights again, the run style is actually pretty similar subtle, small moves that are effective. With that said, Coley has a way to go to match Rice's hands.
