Who obsesses over spring "game" attendance?

Who cares? FSU has and will always have little brother syndrome. Congrats, a diploma mill in the middle of nowhere managed to get a bunch of suckers out for a glorified scrimmage. I barely care to watch our spring game on TV, it's awful television. All spring games are, because it's a manufactured game that lacks the flow of a game worth a ****.

Im not sure I understand the direction of your comment, so I'll just reiterate what I was trying to say in my post above.

* 9-10K is my estimate, which I said is not a bad turnout.

* Students did not turn out. Not sure if it was related to it being Easter Weekend or distance from campus or the fact that 18-22 year olds tend to be whiny little ******* in our society today other.

* UM marketing Dept. forcing everyone to have to pre-purchase a no-cost ticket then announcing that the game was sold out last Thursday might have had a negative effect on attendance.

* And perhaps worth noting, UM played their spring game in a stadium with pink seats. The ghost of Blake James still hovers over this program.
Or maybe, just hear me out, driving 30-40 minutes north to watch a scrimmage isn't how any college student would want to spend their Saturday in the spring. I remember going to spring games back in my undergrad days and it was a wasted Saturday. It was boring as **** and honestly, it wasn't really all that exciting. We'd talk about what we saw in the car on the way back and the next day, we would all say "That was a complete waste of time, most of this stuff won't matter in August".

When this team becomes dominant in the near future it will be sold out and the hottest ticket. No one wants to see bad,,,,,,u need stars that people want to see. Super Stars bring in the audience, when u have basic dudes no one cares. Everyone wants to see the best of the best in every sport thats just how it is. Everyone was going to watch Floyd even if he fought on an alien planet. people want to see Sean Taylor he was the ticket.....Hester.....Deon. They want to see those guys............Wade Lebron.......they want to see those guys.

People also forget how big of a draw these events are in college towns. Having gone to school in a big college town myself, entire Saturdays in the fall revolve around CFB. It’s the biggest event in town by a mile, and anyone that’s anything is gonna be there. In Miami, forget about it. Even when we’re a Top Ten team there’s 50 other things to do in the city, let alone the tri-county area. In Gainesville and Tallahassee, on those CFB Saturdays, there’s nothing else. Sure, go to one of the five restaurants/bars that everyone already frequents and is watching the game at. Or one of three other non-school related things to do on a weekend within a 25 mile radius of campus. It’s like comparing apples and the moon.

It wasn't thought out well at all and it's a shame. I didn't know you needed tickets to get in, but the fact 1 person can grab 6 tickets is ridiculous. That allotment is to big for 1 person. I know a couple people were by themselves but still got 6 tickets. there should never be ticket sales or even tickets for the spring game.

Spring game should NOT be held the day before Easter. And it shouldn't be held at a venue where they can't figure out the traffic/parking issues. Limit # of ticket requests to 4. Too many people take tickets & don't show up. All in all still a good crowd for a spring game. Let's Go Canes! Franklin.....WooHoo...bulldozer.

It’s been the same joke forever and ever and is just old at this point…

Go look at average attendance for the 2001 season…

It’s all these teams can say…

I went to the spring game to show support for the coaching staff but honestly spring games suck. You don't really get a deal for how good the team is. It is still a practice.

Unless I missed it they really didn't have that much for the fans. In took my son to one a few years back at Joe Robbie and they had bounce houses for the kids and gave out posters and had the whole team signing them for you before the game. That was pretty fun.

You must not be from Miami talking like that. Sean Taylor & Hester played in more half empty stadiums at home than they did full ones. It doesn’t matter who’s on the field in Miami. You’re only going to get around 40k to show up to a Miami /Temple noon game. With 40k being a generous #. Miami is a fickle football town. Always has been and always will be.

If 10,000 people showed up, this was the most attended Miami spring game in my lifetime.

That said, UM ticket office dropped the ball here. Forcing people to preorder free tickets and then allowing them to get 6 tickets each was stupid. Supposedly, they gave away 21,000 tickets for a stadium with 19,000 capacity. I waited too long and the seats were ā€œsold outā€. Somehow traffic and parking issues kept more than half of ticket holders at home? Good thing we don’t have those issues during the season.

I'm fairly certain this was something that ultimately benefited Inter Miami, since you had to download the app to get your tickets.

We really need to look into this whole TicketMaster/e-ticket nonsense. Even though I use my same e-mail address, somehow the "TicketMaster" account for Inter Miami can't communicate with the "TicketMaster Inter Miami" account or any other account. It's ridiculous. At some point, I'm going to have every pro team app on my phone just to get into games.
