Who comes back?

On the caneville twitter space, it was said the focus of the NIL was to take care of our current players, and possibly entice them to stay with hefty NIL packages, because coaches believe if the core of this team comes back next season we can be really good.

Would you rather give a hefty NIL package to a 5 star DT who make take 2 years to make an impact or put it towards bringing Leonard Taylor back another year? I do think this team with this staff another season to get comfortable in the systems could be dangerous.

Keeping your core is absolutely vital and I love the idea of using NIL to keep players from jumping into the draft. Getting players to return and then having them improve their draft stock def helps recruiting/portal wise as well.

Seems like @Cribby was hinting at doing just this. NIL'ing up the current roster, cherry picking the portal with smaller numbers but impactful, and bringing in another big and impactful recruiting class. Could set things up very nicely for next year.

If we finish the season strong, good NIL packages for draft eligible players, this could result in many of our players coming back to make a run.

*Schedule not in calendar order

UF - Away
FAMU - Home
Ball State - Home
USF - Away (lol) still in state
BC - Home
FSU - Home
Duke - Home
Pitt - Home
Clemson - Away
Louisville - Away
Syracuse - Away
Wake Forest - Away

We’ll probably get Syracuse at the end of the year for our freeze game.
How many times have we played @ Clemson in the past handful of years? Why is that so unbalanced?

Just will piggy back on a few posters said already..

*Some guys will have to get processed out. Just the way it is. I said it last offseason..we gotta stop this thinking that every kid deserves a 6th year. Covid season been over for 3 years now. Time to get things back to normal when it comes to eligibility. Only give kids a 6th year that deserve to be here and are going to contribute in the 2 deep or on Special teams. Its not personal. We need your spot, kid!

*Man with the NIL I hope we can finally go back to the days of kids not leaving UM unless they are a guaranteed 1st or 2nd round pick. A good one year NIL deal should be able to match any contract in the 3rd round or later.

*If LT and Cohen stay on this tracjectory..cant ask them to stay. Unless something miraculous happens and they just really love being here that much. Which I am all for. Being the 3rd best Center on the draft board sounds like a 3rd-4th round grade to me. Why would Lee leave when he could improve that next season? There will be some surprises. (I can see Young leaving just because hes ready to move on to the next phase in this life. Remember he did JUCO too. Cant fault him for taking a shot) Everyone else I see no reason for them to leave unless they just really hate school (academic wise) which I can understand too. You can throw Rivers in that group. Every kid isnt interested in getting a Masters degree. Free or not. lol. You guys throw that out there like every kid loves poppin open that book. Just sayin'.

If Miami looks dominant towards the end of the season and TVD makes a decision to come back, along with the coordinators, I have to think it will put some of these guys on the fence. Enough guys come back and you could realistically have a shot at the playoffs.

I know this isn't going to happen but for the sake of making a point, if everyone came back where do you think that puts us next year in the national conversation? Because then you figure where the drop off is for each guy who decides to leave.

i think if TVD comes back it will dramatically help increase the chances of others to do the same and will also drastically help our portal success

I have done a 180 on TVD, thought he was leaving early and now believe he’d be crazy to leave early. He won’t grade out a R1-3 until he stops staring down receivers, shows at least some mobility and gets more loft on his ball. So he’s coming back IMO.

Which means Restrepo is coming back and I’m sure so are Young and George and Brashard.

The only starters on O leaving with eligibility are our OL. I think all three (Lee, Cohen, Rivers) leave. If Parrish gets healthy quickly and has a really strong final 5-6 games, there’s a chance he leaves.

On D, Kam is gone, LT is gone. 50/50 on JW. Very slight chance JHH and Kiko leave if everything goes their way these next several games, but I doubt it. Messidor is definitely coming back IMHO.

How you can tell a Miami Hurricane fan:
Van Dyke is terrible. One read QB. He spends too much time with Restrepo and the golf course. Start Emory.
Also,
I hope Van Dyke returns next year.

Looking ahead to next year - we have a lot of draft eligible players who could be important pieces for an ACC Championship roster. I’m not sure we’re ready to call this team National Championship contenders yet, but definitely enough to win the ACC.

Who do you think should come back and who would you really want back?

Akeem Mesidor Jr
Jared Harrison-Hunte R-Jr
Leonard Taylor Jr
Jahfari Harvey R-Jr
Chantz Williams R-Jr
KJ Cloyd Jr
Kiko Mauigoa Jr
Kam Kinchens Jr
James Williams Jr

Tyler Van Dyke Jr
Javion Cohen Jr
Matt Lee Jr
Jalen Rivers R-So
Zion Nelson R-Jr
Henry Parrish Jr
Don Chaney R-So
Colbie Young Jr
Xavier Restrepo Jr
Jacolby George Jr
I want Zion Nelson out of my feed I’m over the confusion and hype and jekle and Hyde

I think Rivers comes back unless he gets a much higher draft grade than I think he will.

I do agree about TVD. If the draft was after the A&M game, then yeah, but if his NIL is nice, I do think he would be foolish to leave after this season. That is unless he puts on Superman's cape for the rest of the season and post-season.

I do think he has the ability to improve and not stare down his receivers. His best bet is to negotiate a fat NIL deal for next year, hire a top-shelf QB coach, fix his issues and lead a team that has a good chance of making it to the playoffs next season. I personally think his mobility is fine for his style of game, but the staring down receivers and the lack of consistency are the things that WILL tank his pro career if he doesn't get those fixed.

And, if LT doesn't get a 1st round grade, I think he should negotiate a fat NIL and come back one more year on a team that will play in prime time a lot next year and raise his draft status.

If Kam gets a 1st round grade, then he should bounce. If he doesn't, he has a lot to improve on, so just get that fat NIL deal, return to what could be a championship contending team and improve his stock.
