When you guys watched Mendoza, did you really think "Oh, yeah, this guy should be the #1 overall pick in the draft!!!!"

"Ran over" a LB being blocked by 2 different players. We saw what happens when Bissainthe isn't being occupied by two other offensive players, Mendoza loses consciousness.
“He can’t play at the FBS level”

“He can’t play at Miami”

“He’s just doing what Indiana did last year and not elevating anything”

“He’s the worst Heisman ever”

“He only played average in his national championship win”

“He doesn’t deserve the #1 pick”

At this rate, people in here will be starting threads about how he shouldn’t be in Canton.

Just tip your cap. Everybody here was wrong. I was bullish on him since high school and I was still way wrong about his ceiling.

Mendoza won everything possible last season and ran over our best LB on the biggest play of the game. This all feels like sour grapes and loser talk.

You send a highlight of him throwing go ball on a seam where his receiver made a circus catch. I mean if you are trying to push the receiver I guess that's a good response but it really doesn't say anything about Mendoza.

Can you find a clip of him making an accurate off platform throw? Ideally two one moving right and one moving left. I haven't seen one.

The fact that you get so offended by an opinion you disagree with tells me that your opinion is informed by something personal. Something about yourself. It's not a dispassionate evaluation.
Buddy - you are the one making assumptions and you don’t know ball like you think you do if you’re only giving credit to the receiver.

I was hoping that in your astute football analysis that you would see 2 Penn State defenders in his face while he makes that throw off his back foot.

I am just wasting my time here. Carry on, sir! Have a great day!

Won within the first two years of starting football in middle school, from a 6-play player to starter to winning leagues.
Man took Columbus to their first state titles.
Went blow for blow with our #1 pick at QB a year ago in an instant classic...
Man took Indiana to their first National Title and stomped us when it mattered the most. Not only running over our best LB, but threw perfect back shoulder throws to seal the game.

Yeah, keep betting against him. He's literally a Road to Glory Mode player in real life.

Dude is a straight up winner and looks the part off the bus and on film.
Ward: 35/53, 437, 2 TD, 1 INT + 1 rushing TD
Mendoza: 11/22, 285, 2 TD, 1 INT

That's what you call "blow for blow". Really? One guy had a lot more responsibility than the other.

It's a 25 yard throw in the middle of the field. Do you think that demonstrates impressive arm strength or something? Most HS QB's can make a throw like that. It's nothing impressive in terms of arm strength.

Am I suppose to be impressed that he took a hit? Yeah he's tough. He's willing to take hits. I commend him for that but it doesn't make him a future NFL starter much less worth a 1st round pick.

You can say that about any QB. Look at Cam at Tennessee- bad offense surrounds him and he struggles.

And yes, Davis better let Brady have some input regarding the 1st pick, especially if they are going QB.
Ward held it together pretty well especially for a rookie. Do you have any clue what a game manager with mediocre mobility would look like with a bad receiving corp and God awful Oline? Lets just say significantly worse than what Ward did.

Check some highlights below. Especially the last 2 before the video ends but I’ll do the home work for you:

Not dismiss all of the runs he has and how he juked out Bain and ran past Mesidor on the same play.

You are a hater passing off and some poster that thinks he knows football.

Welcome to the board, BTW, or whatever Alt account you have.

Fans really overestimate how many teams are willing to part with multiple draft picks to move up. Especially when there isn’t a sure thing quarterback. Of course the Raiders should trade down. They suck and need as much help as possible but so should every team near the top of the draft. The problem is, the good teams drafting late aren’t good because they stupidly trade a bunch of picks just to get one really high pick unless there’s a Payton Manning or John Elway type there.

As for Mendoza, I’m just not sold on a guy whose team doesn’t trust him to carry them when they need it. Indiana was in quite a few close games this year where they kept forcing the run even when they weren’t having any success. If I have an all world talent at quarterback, I’m not just trying to sit on the ball and hope my defense can shut out the opponent. I’m giving my quarterback the opportunity to sling it and score us some points. It’s very similar to how we handled Carson Beck this year. We kept things very safe and didn’t ask him to beat teams throwing the ball downfield because we didn’t trust Carson to do it consistently. If you can’t be relied on to carry a really good team in college how can you be relied on to carry a terrible team in the NFL?

What highlight video?

I've said Mendoza is a game manager and not worth a 1st round pick and your reaction is such that you'd just think I called your wife an ugly **** or something like that. I'm not a "hater", such a childish term, you're just in love with this dude and can't stand anyone else thinking that he might not be God's gift to QB'ing.

I've never had an account on here before.

I am not making the argument for him to be the 1st pick. I don’t care where he goes.

Whatever teams decide, they decide. To me, he’s a legit NFL QB, whether he’s the 1st pick of the 1st round or the 1st pick in the 3rd round.

I forgot to add the video. I added the video now to that post.

I have another co-worker who is a Bills fan say this…. And I quote “We should just trade Allen to the Raiders, hire Cignetti and draft Mendoza with the 1st overall pick” I said you’re ****ting me, he said “nope, we need to burn everything down in Buffalo and start all over”

6:44 is a 15 yard throw.

9:07 he's running more or less straight up the field, yes it's slightly to his left which actually helps based on the location of the receiver since he's running towards him, and hits a receiver who's very open. Solid ball.

These aren't really what people mean when they say off platform throws. Go watch Ward or Burrows highlights and if you can't see the difference I don't know what to tell you.

Or they could just get a GM that can draft better. LOL! He doesn't realize that without Allen, even if replaced with a above average QB....Jared Goff lets say, the Bills would be a 5 win team. Allen covers up for so much stink on Buffaloes roster. They have one of the worst pass catching groups in the NFL, Oline is mediocre at pass pro, and the defense is now just bad as they are undersized and struggle to stop the run.

Yes. I don't know how much HS football you watch but the vast majority of HS QB's I've seen including the half dozen I've worked with would have no trouble making that throw.

Put that throw outside the #'s to a receiver running a deep out or a crossing route when the QB's had to scramble and.....yeah. That's a big boy throw.

You just don't know what you are looking at.

He looked more like Ken Dorsey than a 1st overall. You will never convince me he is much more than that.

This year's QB Class is not that strong either, So he's probably the best QB in his class, but if you compare him to other number picks at QB, I dont think he'd rank near the top.
