What Would You Like To See Improve

The pass protection was very good against App State.

The run blocking was god awful.

They were bringing more guys than we could block....

They sold out to stop the run, though. Thats why the pass opened up. Thats football.

Exactly. One reason they hung with UT is because UT couldn't make them pay for it. We could. That's what good teams do.

I'll agree on penalties. D line jumping off sides way too often. The O line needs to get more consistent in run blocking. Sometimes they look overpowering, sometimes they look like last season. There's been a huge improvement but there's still room for more.

Defense is something I'm more curious about. It's been obvious, playing three teams who can't complete a pass, that Diaz has tried to overwhelm the quarterback and force him to beat us. A lot of this over-aggression can come back to bite us if we play like this against better quarterbacks. We saw a few breakdowns against FAMU and there were quite a few plays against FAU and APP where a slightly quicker thinking quarterback with a decent arm could have torched our D for long gains.

even though we've done much better, situational decision making, we've made some game changing mistakes that we have gotten away with due to comp level.. those can cost you a big road game (i.e. roughing kickers, kayaas goaline pic, penalties)

Punt returner.

Not a knock on Berrios, but we must maximize opportunities

Suggestions?

Elder!

I dont want to hear that hes too valuable and might get hurt blah blah blah!!

Santana Moss, Phillip B were doing it just fine when we were dominating.

Btw, i am not directing this to you personally bra.

I like it. How was Mullins in high school - receiver/receiver or jack of all trades with return excellence?

Want to get the dude some touches

TBH, facing a stacked front, the offensive line did a heck of a job

Oh, I'm sorry, I participated in a message board discussion and gave an opinion. How idiotic of me!

Here, I'll make you feel better, Miami has nothing to worry about. We are perfectly perfect. Happy now?

- Short yardage power running game. It has looked iffy against inferior opposition so far. I have no confidence we'll be able to blow a real opponent off the ball on 3rd and 1.

- Kickoffs. Kicking it out of bounds, short line drives, bad coverage. It all needs to improve.

- The return game. Find some dangerous guys and get them back there. Berrios and Lewis on KO coverage scares no one except our own fans. Look at the return tds that bama keeps getting to bust open games. It's really important, stop playing it too safe.

Just rewatched the game. App St had lots of momentum changing penalties which made us look good. The biggest being the Cox 79 TD yard run called back for holding but there were others. App St communication was terrible resulting in easy plays for offense, credit Richt! The biggest disappointment was the number of 1 yard or no gains in the running game. OL still needs work! Second and goal ,on the 1, resulted in two straight zero gains runs up the middle. Next play Richt decides to throw and you know what happened next.

The defense was gashed at times particularly in the second quarter. The amount of negative plays created by this D is outstanding.
It was only 14 point deficit with 7 mins left in the third quarter. Two quick TD's changed the feel of this game to a blowout. I think the receivers have room to improve only because they dropped a few balls including a easy TD. Richards also dropped a bullet to the chest but made an awesome catch down the sideline for 50+ yards. OL needs to gets better, last week it was pass protection and this week the run blocking was below average. The biggest improvement is by far coaching. App St coach got schooled all game. Diaz was unpredictable on 3rd downs, sometimes blitzes off the corner and other times rushed 3. Richt up tempo offense is creating lots of coaching problems on the othe side of the ball. The best part is I can hardly tell the plays are being called in from the sideline, feels effortless.

I'd like to see more mid range passes over the middle and up the seams to WR and Slot. Swing and crossing patterns to the backs too. Crack back blocks by the TE on Sweep plays.

Defensively better gap integrity and not try to beat the O tackle by going to far around the outside, opening up a huge gap at the 5 and 6 holes. DB catch the ball when there is a chance for int.

Put a game breaker at Punt Return. Berrios doesn't have that extra gear. May I suggest Coley.

I agree everything you just mentioned except Coley returning kicks. He looks weak after every single tackle. He must be banged up again this year.

Stop being childish. I dont care about the thread. It's a good one. But if you make an assessment, do your diligence and research.

There are a lot of people just saying anything and are not taking into account the full picture.

For a line facing more than they could block they did darn good

You're a mark. OL wasn't moving what they WERE blocking. Watch the film.

It's funny as **** that you're trying to save face here.

Mark? good one, there.

You're a joke. Keep on embarrassing yourself not knowing wtf you're talking about.

1. Reduction in Penalties

2. Need a threat in the Return game (PR/KO) - throw one of the young guys back there

3. Dayall Harris taking more of Berrios' snaps at WR. I like the potential of the Richards, Harris, Coley trio. All three show the potential to make YAC and explosive plays
