in a sentence, a paragraph, or a book tell us how you feel about the "good ole boy"

personally I have to wonder seeing how FSU became free shoes university as spurrier so gingerly called them out. Was bowden ignoring some of the stuff going on like today?

Bowden invented looking the other way, and his wife wove the rug to sweep stuff under. Remember the time Sebastian Janokowski was told he wouldn't start the national title game? Well, first FG FSU had to kick, guess who trotted out there? You guessed it. Bowden's reasoning? Well, FSU didn't kick off to start the game, so SJ didn't start. Yeah, Bowden was a scum bag with a good old boy personality.

I admire Bowden from a few standpoints. He had the guts to schedule us OOC, along with other top tier teams. He built a machine. No matter how you slice it, finishing top 5 as many years in a row as they did is impressive.

Never backed down from anyone. Had his short comings on character issues, but who didn't. Could have played for a tie and went for the win. Great great college ball coach. Nothing but respect for Coach Bowden. Hate FSU, fan of Coach Bowden. Jimbo ain't no Bowden.

Go Canes!

I respect Bowden and even like him. He didn't run from us and in turn helped Miami become Miami.

He made fsu relevant and if it weren't for Miami he probably wins multiple national championships. That being said -

LOL
I was in the front row right behind him and even I knew it was wide right.

"Q. Do you like the idea of playing Miami right off the bat?

A. I sure do. Number one, to get it out of the way. Number two, I'd like to get them before they get all greased up. They lost six first-rounders last year. I'd like to get them before they get those other guys playing like first-rounders, which will happen.

I've met him at fundraisers - and he's truly a good 'ol boy -generous, polite, and funny.

Whatever else he's done or is accused of doing, those three characteristics remain.

Pile of ****....after we beat FSU and lost later that year FSU was ranked ahead of us even though we both had the same record.Everyone thought that we should be ranked ahead of FSU and we should be playing for the NC,not FSU.Bowden, when asked about us beating them and the ranking mistake, said on ESPN "I don't care about that, that trophy will look just fine on my mantle" Thankfully Oklahoma beat the Semenholes and I never had any respect for Bowden or FSU ever again.Had he shown us any respect and acknowledged the fact that we did beat them then I could have let it go.He did not and he even laughed about the fact that we got screwed.

He was the same as us insofar as playing anybody, anywhere, anytime. He also was like a very liberal father to his players. I believe he wrote a character-type letter praising one of his former players who I believe was up on either a rape or murder charge. I did like his homespun humor and recall him saying that on his tombstone it would read "but I had to play Miami". I think he liked and respected Miami. When FSU went from a women's teacher's university to co-ed and established a football team, Miami was one of the first to agree to play them. The mighty gators refused to play them as they felt they were beneath them in talent, etc.

Bowden always struck me as a good ol' boy with a scumbag side as opposed to a scumbag with a good ol' boy side. Not sure if that makes sense but the former is A LOT more tolerable and respectable (in certain instances) than the later. We also needed them as much as they needed us to build both programs. That's why UiF will always be the third wheel in this state too.

This is it to a T. A total scumbag who acted like he was a saint. Basically everything I hate about typical good Ol' boy southerners .

I think he is deceptively fast, with a great motor. A gym rat that is like a coach on the field.
