Well, It's Official: **** Butch Davis

Miami has won 5 national titles, none with Butch Davis as the head man in charge. You can say 01 because those were his players but still. Miami has won championships without him. He didn't make the program which is what some of you act like he did... He is good, I'll take him if we strike out on the Homerun options available. He is ahead of a number of coaches for me though

Brock, real question...do u remember the program in 1995-96?

Do you remember it in 1977?

I wasn't born yet, but reading the history, I have an idea. Don't know what ur point is since I was addressing Brock's comment on Butch. I'm shedding a little context to give reason to Butch Fanatics. If this thread was about Howard, then I would get ur ? About '77...so since u asked, what did your ? had to do w my ?

I think what your missing WhatTheHell, is that recruits actually wanna play for Butch. I'll agree, Butch wasn't the best game day coach, but I think with him being an analyst, his understanding is different. I believe he will also put together a really good staff to cover over his deficiencies as a game day coach. He'll stock the cupboard full and get the program back going. Don't see what all the hate is about.

what recruits outside of Florida know about Butch right now? I'm sure he can sell them later on, but Butch Davis' brand isn't Nick Saban like - dont get it twisted

U part 2.

Lol at recruits today want to play for Butch.

Butch he would be a great recruiter, don't get me wrong.

But most of who he would be recruiting were still ****ting their pants last time Butch was coaching in south Florida, and they were barely having wet dreams let alone dreaming of playing for Butch when he left uNc.

Uhhh he hands them a list of NFL players he recruited & pops in the U part 2. that is all

Everyone has seen the U part 2 they know who Butch is. If they don't all he has to say is he coached Ed reed, Andre Johnson, gore, Portis, mcgahee..... List goes on etc

it definitely helped him a lot in Florida but no everyone has not seen the u part 2. Unless I'm mistaken I don't see any substantiation of that. Additionally, even if they've seen the film that doesn't mean recruits want to play for Butch over Saban, fisher, Meyer, and others.

LET US PASS THA COLLECTION TRAY AROUND --- ONE 'MO TIME!!

The Church of Butch Davis followers have made the Golden Girls look tame by comparison. Good God get a hold of yourselves. I've never seen a group of people delude themselves this much. It's like one giant fish story that continues growing more exaggerated as they try to outmatch each other. The mythical tale of Butch Davis has reached hilarious levels.

Listen, if we strike out on established and accomplished college football coaches that have roamed a sideline within the last 5 years, I'm all for falling back on Butch Davis. But the delusional party tearing down more accomplished candidates to champion upright cadaver Butch Davis has reached satirical levels. I can't even tell who's joking and who's trying to outdo fellow members of the Church of Butch Davis anymore.

This reminds me of Florida fans demanding Steve Spurrier's return in 2005. They wanted to recapture the glory years and go with the familiar name. They were drunk off nostalgia and couldn't see straight. Luckily for them, their AD hired Urban Meyer and that "****amamie Mickey Mouse offense" of his, and he ran over the SEC and college football. 11 wins a year and 2 National Championships later, those fans dying to recapture the past and lacking the ability to adapt with the times and evolve are glad they were overruled by logic.

As you Butch Davis parishioners sit outside on the porch tonight, taking turns shouting "in my day!..." and clamoring for leather helmets and a "pro style offense," pray to your freckled God that men with more vision and foresight than you take control of this hire. Pray that they help turn Miami into a powerhouse once again, not an old man chasing past ghosts of greatness.

When he gets hired you are going to erase you account right?

Just want to be clear here.

So kids are going to fall for a documentary that takes place two decades ago to when he left basically than whatever game they're currently watching on television game day? B.S.

Do you know how easy it would be to recruit against this guy? We live in a world with all the information a Google search away. Heck, if I can see his flaws as a head coach, you can bet those that get paid in this industry would put together the anti-Butch campaign like nobodies business.

Never agreed with you more.
The most hilarious part is that they actually think Butch is better than Saban lmfao.

Recruits wanted to play for golden. So that not really saying much. And no one is hating on Butch. We're just looking at facts and reality and not what ifs and hope

When Butch gets hired you are going to delete or give me control of your account correct?

(depending on WhatTheHell 's terms equate to)

Every coach has flaws, some more than others. The fact still remains, the man is a great talent evaluator and developer. Do you seriously think That he would have been an integral part of J.J.'s championship teams if he wasn't a pimp?

You have lost your **** mind.

Some of the greatest football minds of all-time have stated that they have never seen a guy with the uncanny gift for recognizing top talent at an early age that Butch possesses.

Butch has won, wether you like it or not. Was robbed of a chance for the ship in 2000. Would have been the coach in 2001 if he hadn't left for Cleveland. And, as we all know, the 2002 squad was robbed in the nightmare in the Fiesta Bowl.

I guess Bill Belichick sucks too cause he sucked in Cleveland.

Some of y'all crack me up.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

The hate stems from the fact that most of the Butch Zombies would take Butch over Chip Kelly or similar.

That is about as delusional as you can get.

That's pretty much where I'm at.

I have Butch just after Chip, Gundy, and Mullen. He's in my top 5. I'm just pointing out and laughing at the cult members who have worked themselves into such a frenzy that they attempt to tear down more accomplish coaches to prop up Butch. It's bordering on insanity at this point.

Yearning for glory and focusing on the past has led to a romanticizing of Butch that has turned him into some mythical figure who descended down to Coral Gables from Mount Olympus. Time and nostalgia are a dangerous thing. We're dealing with an idealized version of Butch created out of desperation to recapture something in this program's past.

That list is good. I'd put Fedora up there too if his entire staff joins him. I don't get the Butch hate either though. If we can get any of the three mentioned or fedora, then go with it. A lot of people are worried (rightfully) that we end up w Mario, hence the Butch push. They (and I often) see Butch as a realistic alternative. Those other four don't seem realistic w these clowns choosing.

Had to LMAO at this.

Man you guys are no joke. LOL. Ill just say this, Yes, I am in the BBB crowd but im not dumb enough to A) Think we should pass on Chip Kelly for him or B) Think he is better then Nick Saban...

But the reality is, Chip Kelly isnt coming here and anyone who thinks he is ill just say you are falling for the "banana in the tailpipe" again.

And second, Butchs resume is nothing to feel ashamed of just because he isnt better then Nick Saban. Built the last great NFL factory in his era, recruited multiple future Hall of Famers, took the Browns to the playoffs, etc...

I am all for dreaming big dreams but at some point you have to wake up..
