Butch would kill it here.
Not wanting him over Internet beef is petty.

Lol at recruits today want to play for Butch.
Butch he would be a great recruiter, don't get me wrong.
But most of who he would be recruiting were still ****ting their pants last time Butch was coaching in south Florida, and they were barely having wet dreams let alone dreaming of playing for Butch when he left uNc.

The Church of Butch Davis followers have made the Golden Girls look tame by comparison. Good God get a hold of yourselves. I've never seen a group of people delude themselves this much. It's like one giant fish story that continues growing more exaggerated as they try to outmatch each other. The mythical tale of Butch Davis has reached hilarious levels.
Listen, if we strike out on established and accomplished college football coaches that have roamed a sideline within the last 5 years, I'm all for falling back on Butch Davis. But the delusional party tearing down more accomplished candidates to champion upright cadaver Butch Davis has reached satirical levels. I can't even tell who's joking and who's trying to outdo fellow members of the Church of Butch Davis anymore.
This reminds me of Florida fans demanding Steve Spurrier's return in 2005. They wanted to recapture the glory years and go with the familiar name. They were drunk off nostalgia and couldn't see straight. Luckily for them, their AD hired Urban Meyer and that "****amamie Mickey Mouse offense" of his, and he ran over the SEC and college football. 11 wins a year and 2 National Championships later, those fans dying to recapture the past and lacking the ability to adapt with the times and evolve are glad they were overruled by logic.
As you Butch Davis parishioners sit outside on the porch tonight, taking turns shouting "in my day!..." and clamoring for leather helmets and a "pro style offense," pray to your freckled God that men with more vision and foresight than you take control of this hire. Pray that they help turn Miami into a powerhouse once again, not an old man chasing past ghosts of greatness.

By far the best post I have read since the Al Golden firing. Bravo sir! Good to see I am not alone and that there are Cane fans with some sense. Was feeling like there were only a couple of us left. I hope the administration is on the same line of thinking and are responsible adults. This is TheU man. We are suppose to be going after the best coach available or not.

Hallelujah! These kooks have managed to turn me on Davis. They're so nuts and cultish that I can't possibly support someone that they're so lathered up over.
Like you said, if we strike out on every great option possible, then, yeah, fall back on Davis. He's definitely better than Mario, and I even like him better than a guy like Miles because he has the same strengths and weaknesses, and you could get him for half the cost leaving more money to possibly hire an OC that would save him from himself.
But these cultist kooks have credited Butch with 4 of our 5 NCs and have even given him credit for JJ's success. They want nothing to do with discussing his most recent desultory body of work. They're mentally ill.
He had black Santa to make up for that parity in recruiting. GoldenShowers brings up a great point about recruiting today. Would be interesting to see how recruiting in 2015 would impact Butch without having a bag man.I think what your missing @WhatTheHell, is that recruits actually wanna play for Butch. I'll agree, Butch wasn't the best game day coach, but I think with him being an analyst, his understanding is different. I believe he will also put together a really good staff to cover over his deficiencies as a game day coach. He'll stock the cupboard full and get the program back going. Don't see what all the hate is about.
Its 2015. Miami is 15 years removed from it's last title. If the coach comes in and doesn't win within the first couple of seasons, the cupboard will not get stocked b/c in 2015, kids don't want to play for mediocre programs.
This isn't 1996 where Miami coaches are able to get to know players better than any other staff. Cell phones and social media killed that years ago. Do you realize how different it was back then? A kid with an offer from Auburn got one in the mail, and the Auburn coaches had to hope and pray he A) had a phone line B) he picked up when they called. They couldn't text him after every win or tweet him or facebook him. So when Miami was ****** in 1997 we still had the massive upper hand bc the HC could come to the recruits school every **** weekend and built a relationship that no other school could touch.
THAT WAY IS OVER FOLKS. Now, if a kid has an offer from Auburn, he likely has just as much contact and relationship with them as he does the local team. That means the selling point for that kid is going to come down to HOW THE TEAM IS PLAYING. Yes, kids will come here bc of the brand and the location, but if the team sucks then all we have to draw kids is some documentary of how things were. You aren't "out relationship-ing" schools for SoFla recruits anymore. Technology ended that.
So you have to win. And win fast.
Technology isnt any different now than it was when Butch da Gawd was coaching at UNC.. your acting like we couldnt text, call, and get on facebook back from 2005 - 2010.. this is a reach. NO kids will not be lining up to play for Butch.. but thats what makes him such a good recruiter.. when he cant get the 5 stars he gets the 3 stars and develops them. Do you not trust Butch's evaluations and development of lower ranked recruits?
This is my favorite post eva...hilarious. ..I am usually at odds with WhatTheHell but this time i feel his point.. i'm for Butch..but not to the point of rejecting everyone else.. my top 5 would be. 1. JESUS
2. BUTCH
3.MATHEW
4. MARK
5. LUKE
lol kidding.. Like a lot of others here anxiety of the new hire has us about to burst a vessel. .. There are actually a good number of both Good and Bad choices out there and most of us will have no control of the hire.. Shaq made me feel like a kid the other day...I'm all amped on who and when for the next coach..so I asked him actually wanted him on my same wave level as me...but he calmly said it matters... but I'm committed to the school ...thats my choice... i can't hire the coach...that is somebody else's choice...and because I'm drowning in my who and when anxiety. .my first thought was that had to be the dumbest thing I've heard him say...lucky the reality of his statement sunk into my brain before i actually responded .. so i could give him a mature response. .. you are absolutely right...why fret over things we can't change let's wait and see.. ..Advice for us all... actually its all we can do
BBB *****3$..lol again an attemtp at humor... Happy Thanksgiving my good friends and u 2 WhatTheHell. .lol

Who doesn't want Butch Davis?
Seriously, are some of you guys so dumb that you can't differentiate not wanting someone versus not having someone as your #1 , but still in your Top 5? (i.e. you want him still)
Butch would kill it here.
Please provide objective facts as to why this would be the case that don't involve having to go back over a decade to support your reasoning.
