Well, It's Official: **** Butch Davis

Not a single person in this thread said they didn't want him.

Just pointing out the fanatical level his followers have reached and how it's sent them into a state of delusion and hysteria.

"Well it's official: **** Butch Davis"
If there is one thing I've noticed about WTH, it's that his posts usually lack hyperbole..

Only problem I have with the Butch deniers is that they over emphasize record, record, record. If record is all that matters, and no consideration given to circumstance, then they should be clamoring for the guy who went 60-15 (.800 WIN PERCENTAGE) at Miami. But they're not. So, the opposition to Butch is just as disingenuous as those who worship the guy.

What you fail to realize is you and others are breaking your ****s out for something that happened 15 years ago. What has Butch done in the last 5 years? Nothing. What has he done in the last 10 years? Nothing.

When you look at Butch's entire body of work, there are a ****load of questions.

No I'm not. Why aren't you petitioning for the coach who went .800 at Miami? Since as your signature shows, record is ALL that matters.

For the record, and I've said it multiple times, I'd take Herman, Chip, Patterson, Gundy and many others. I also have reservations about Butch coming back, but if he does, he's better than many of the options floating around.

So only his time at Miami should matter...typical Butch dck rider.

I'm talking about Coker. Know your Miami history if you're going to start so many ******* threads. Butch went .718 at Miami.

Why don't you want Coker? He went .800 here, won one natty, played for another, won 2 out of 3 BCS bowls, 4 out of 6 overall bowl record. What's not to like?

Butch was .718 at Miami, Coker .800

Has there ever been an official post season game called the "Hyperbowl"?

The evidence of the post doesn't support the conclusion, and somewhere in there the reader is expected to make the inference that "**** Butch Davis" + a small portion of opinion = Butch diehards are annoying.

Also there is a certain amount of logical irony in coming out of the gate crushing Butch, then expecting objective conversation and criticizing those who took the bait.

I don't care about dumb and redundant posts, I'm a big boy, I can just ignore them and maybe even get back to work. I'm only pointing this out because the power posters on here are starting to slip. A few of you bring really strong, entertaining, logical arguments/opinions.

Hallelujah! These kooks have managed to turn me on Davis. They're so nuts and cultish that I can't possibly support someone that they're so lathered up over.

Like you said, if we strike out on every great option possible, then, yeah, fall back on Davis. He's definitely better than Mario, and I even like him better than a guy like Miles because he has the same strengths and weaknesses, and you could get him for half the cost leaving more money to possibly hire an OC that would save him from himself.

But these cultist kooks have credited Butch with 4 of our 5 NCs and have even given him credit for JJ's success. They want nothing to do with discussing his most recent desultory body of work. They're mentally ill.

So you consider a guy that you like better than Les Miles, a man that has some serious sustained success at a major program and a national championship, a fall back? I will take that fall back option all day.

I want Butch hired yesterday because history has shown that the administration is ten times more likely to hire Cristobal then Kelly or Patterson.

But dealing in hypotheticals it sounds stupid to make Butch a #1 option over everybody else.

That delusion is alienating people towards Butch. The harder you push, the harder they push back.

Just sit back and let this clown show lead by our incompetent leader Blake James strike out across the board and savor it when Butch swoops in at the last second to save the day.

gotta love WTH referring to Butch's follower's like he wasn't leading the charge at one point. Now up on a pedestal preaching some BS.

And for the record, he's on an account ban bet with me for when Butch gets hired. I think that's what sent him over the edge.

Larry Coker's overall win percentage at UM was better than Miles's at LSU, and Larry also won 2 NCs. I don't focus only on a guy's win percentage. Miles is on the downswing and about to be fired because he can't beat any good teams. Why the **** would UM be looking to hire a guy that LSU doesn't want because he can't get the job done with monster resources?

Butch is basically the same guy, but you can get him for half the price. I'd take that all day.

He's getting cold feet because he doesn't like being with the majority of this board. His top choices are long shots and if anything goes wrong with the next hire, he will be able to say, "I told you".

I think what your missing WhatTheHell, is that recruits actually wanna play for Butch. I'll agree, Butch wasn't the best game day coach, but I think with him being an analyst, his understanding is different. I believe he will also put together a really good staff to cover over his deficiencies as a game day coach. He'll stock the cupboard full and get the program back going. Don't see what all the hate is about.

Its 2015. Miami is 15 years removed from it's last title. If the coach comes in and doesn't win within the first couple of seasons, the cupboard will not get stocked b/c in 2015, kids don't want to play for mediocre programs.

This isn't 1996 where Miami coaches are able to get to know players better than any other staff. Cell phones and social media killed that years ago. Do you realize how different it was back then? A kid with an offer from Auburn got one in the mail, and the Auburn coaches had to hope and pray he A) had a phone line B) he picked up when they called. They couldn't text him after every win or tweet him or facebook him. So when Miami was ****ty in 1997 we still had the massive upper hand bc the HC could come to the recruits school every **** weekend and built a relationship that no other school could touch.

THAT WAY IS OVER FOLKS. Now, if a kid has an offer from Auburn, he likely has just as much contact and relationship with them as he does the local team. That means the selling point for that kid is going to come down to HOW THE TEAM IS PLAYING. Yes, kids will come here bc of the brand and the location, but if the team sucks then all we have to draw kids is some documentary of how things were. You aren't "out relationship-ing" schools for SoFla recruits anymore. Technology ended that.

So you have to win. And win fast.

A lot of good points in here

I'll pass on Miles because of your points, and the fact he won't have any SEC-bagmen to secure players.
