Well, It's Official: **** Butch Davis

Everyone has seen the U part 2 they know who Butch is. If they don't all he has to say is he coached Ed reed, Andre Johnson, gore, Portis, mcgahee..... List goes on etc

it definitely helped him a lot in Florida but no everyone has not seen the u part 2. Unless I'm mistaken I don't see any substantiation of that. Additionally, even if they've seen the film that doesn't mean recruits want to play for Butch over Saban, fisher, Meyer, and others.

Kyle, I can tell you that EVERYONE has seen the U part 2. I don't live in Florida, I live in Cali and that was the talk of the barber shop out here. My cousin lives in Mississippi, played for Gus Malzhan, and he was buzzing about how great Butch was....trust me, it's not like the U part 2 aired on some local sports station.

I think the huge pro-Butch movement stemmed initially from the Cristobal to Miami rumors. We were so frightened that we band together and came up with the only obvious choice at the time - Butch Davis.

You're already seeing Cane fans take a step back and go, ok, well if the BOT is talking about spending 4m+ on a coach then ya let's look around.

I think what your missing WhatTheHell, is that recruits actually wanna play for Butch. I'll agree, Butch wasn't the best game day coach, but I think with him being an analyst, his understanding is different. I believe he will also put together a really good staff to cover over his deficiencies as a game day coach. He'll stock the cupboard full and get the program back going. Don't see what all the hate is about.

Its 2015. Miami is 15 years removed from it's last title. If the coach comes in and doesn't win within the first couple of seasons, the cupboard will not get stocked b/c in 2015, kids don't want to play for mediocre programs.

This isn't 1996 where Miami coaches are able to get to know players better than any other staff. Cell phones and social media killed that years ago. Do you realize how different it was back then? A kid with an offer from Auburn got one in the mail, and the Auburn coaches had to hope and pray he A) had a phone line B) he picked up when they called. They couldn't text him after every win or tweet him or facebook him. So when Miami was ****ty in 1997 we still had the massive upper hand bc the HC could come to the recruits school every **** weekend and built a relationship that no other school could touch.

THAT WAY IS OVER FOLKS. Now, if a kid has an offer from Auburn, he likely has just as much contact and relationship with them as he does the local team. That means the selling point for that kid is going to come down to HOW THE TEAM IS PLAYING. Yes, kids will come here bc of the brand and the location, but if the team sucks then all we have to draw kids is some documentary of how things were. You aren't "out relationship-ing" schools for SoFla recruits anymore. Technology ended that.

So you have to win. And win fast.

Mostly agree, but some kids just want to stay home.
That's why you and I can pull a top-15 class here.

This. I love Butch and he's a great candidate. But if the school is going to put their money where their mouth is then let's create so buzz by plucking a top coach right now. It's not that Butch was a miracle worker. Good coaches can win and recruit here. Every good coach we've had has won a ship' (well, if you give Larry's to Butch) so any proven coach can come here and do great. Les, Richt, Chip, Gundy, Mullen, or even Herman at coaches that are doing good things now. Then we won't even need to worry about whether Butch can shake off the cobwebs

So basically logic has no bearing in your reality?

Come the fvck on.

The Church of Butch Davis followers have made the Golden Girls look tame by comparison. Good God get a hold of yourselves. I've never seen a group of people delude themselves this much. It's like one giant fish story that continues growing more exaggerated as they try to outmatch each other. The mythical tale of Butch Davis has reached hilarious levels.

Listen, if we strike out on established and accomplished college football coaches that have roamed a sideline within the last 5 years, I'm all for falling back on Butch Davis. But the delusional party tearing down more accomplished candidates to champion upright cadaver Butch Davis has reached satirical levels. I can't even tell who's joking and who's trying to outdo fellow members of the Church of Butch Davis anymore.

This reminds me of Florida fans demanding Steve Spurrier's return in 2005. They wanted to recapture the glory years and go with the familiar name. They were drunk off nostalgia and couldn't see straight. Luckily for them, their AD hired Urban Meyer and that "****amamie Mickey Mouse offense" of his, and he ran over the SEC and college football. 11 wins a year and 2 National Championships later, those fans dying to recapture the past and lacking the ability to adapt with the times and evolve are glad they were overruled by logic.

As you Butch Davis parishioners sit outside on the porch tonight, taking turns shouting "in my day!..." and clamoring for leather helmets and a "pro style offense," pray to your freckled God that men with more vision and foresight than you take control of this hire. Pray that they help turn Miami into a powerhouse once again, not an old man chasing past ghosts of greatness.
But NFL U, bro.

Cant shut down sfla and recruit elites nationally.....it will be a difficult task to return to prominence under them nd no hc will retain diaz so sorry for that. They will start from scratch

We already have the recruits. We finish 2nd or 3rd in the ACC recruiting rankings every year. We can't even win the Coastal back to back years yet. There isn't a magic flip that will happen with our program. It'll rebuild over time with the right coaches. I think Babers with the right offensive staff will recruit very well for Miami

Look at Babers' total offense numbers at Cuse and Bowling Green.

Then look at his recruiting classes.
