Height is certainly overrated when it comes to speed pass rushers. Being tall will help you stay in the passing lanes, but it also gives the offensive tackle a better target to get his hands on.

How long is Harris' wingspan?

According to this article, he has a 6'7" wingspan.

Also, pretty fast and really athletic so the rest can be worked on and he can be a beast here. Trust from Brandon Jenkins, Freeny, Dummervil and others you can be short but with coaching you can still be great

You don't sack the quarterback with the top of your head. With his height, it gives him burst around the edge and the ability to fire out low and be a nightmare for tackles. With his wingspan, with added strength it gives him a chance to engage against the run. Haven't had time to check out the highlights but I would love just one end with gamebreaking speed.

Interesting that UF would turn him away when they only have 12 commits. Also surprising that they would take a kid from Wyoming over him....seems like Coker-esque recruiting tactics.

Said only other DE prospect UFAG will take is Lorenzo Carter.

If Harris offer sheet is legit, kid must be doing something right

the kid they took from wyoming is playing o-line though they have him listed as a d-linemen. other than that, idk if what is being reported about this situation is true or not. i hadn't heard of justus reed or harris until threads started popping up here on both the last few days lol. i've been following offensive recruiting much more havily. but they supposedly feel good about lorenzo carter too. guess we'll see.

Your buddy, ihatethisplace, was all about Trent Harris for a while. Whenever there was a thread about Keyon Brown and there was mention/concern by Canes fans regarding his interest in UF, ihate would declare that he didn't care for Brown and that he (along with florida) preferred Trent Harris. Don't know if that was just him sticking to his MO of condescension through subtle jabs masked as info or compliments, but it does indicate that Trent Harris has very much been on UF's recruiting radar for a while

probably so. like i said i had heard of neither he nor the commit we just took, reed, until recently and i don't know anything about the news uf would/wouldn't take his commit. i simply haven't been following the d-line recruiting that closely. we need offensive help and that's mainly where my focus has been. i can't speak for ihatethisplace but after seeing harris' clips i could see why he was high on him. harris looks like an ideal 3-4 linebacker with great get off and bend.

funny, because he reminds me of a guy who ended up at miami who i wanted badly at the time, marcus robinson. i felt he should have been a linebacker in a 3-4 as well, harris reminds me a ton of robinson.

Sounds like they had a spot for Reed or Harris on a first come first serve basis and another scholly reserved for someone like Carter. You can do that when you have Fowler and Bullard. We will have a similar situation with AQM and Thomas next year.
