Welcome to the []_[]

Its funny because if you go back and look at the 5 stars from 10 years ago and come to now. you will have no idea who those guys even were because they amounted to nothing. while the 3 star who were not divas came in and worked and are now getting paid.

That's funny, because I draw the opposite conclusion from those draft lists that you do. Those three drafts suggest that a very high percentage of the 4 and 5 stars fulfill their potential.

Given how few 4 and 5* recruits there are each year, the percentage of those that our 1st rounders is significantly higher than the countless 3 stars and below recruits.

13 players 3* stars or less ........... Do you see a trend here? Not a statistics major and I see a pattern. You star humpers are crazy.
You're missing the point. I wonder how many of those 13 players were coached by competent coaches who actually developed them...I wonder how many of those low rated players have a championship ring. I see many of those 3 stars coming from schools like Iowa, Baylor, Boston College, Purdue, Temple, in other words teams who havent won sht.

Getting drafted does not always correlate to college success. Ask Ken Dorsey. Many times it's about measurables and potential...You know the NFL drafts guys that will work in their system...The NFL has coaches that can further develop these guys. We don't have the luxury to continue to take projects unless we can develop them. Take a look at the average star rating of the last few national champions. I'm sure you'll see a different trend. Fact of the matter is there are many more 3 star recruits than there are 5 stars so of course you will see a decent number in the draft. But like drifters said the percentage of them being drafted is higher. You're trying to justify mediocre recruiting that has gotten us nowhere, can't even win the Coastal ! We have some really talented players...But we still dont have enough.

You **** about stars just remember Luke kuchley was a 2 star out of cincinnati. Look how he turned out.
Come on man be serious...Call me a star ***** I don't care. Luke Kuchly was a great player, did he win a NC though ? NO. I don't know what you want this team to do, but I want it to win a championship. Atleast the ACC ! We won't win recruiting like this. We will win by landing 4 and 5 stars. That's just how it is. Ask Alabama. Ask Florida State. Until I see us win something meaningful with a team full of 3 stars, yup i'm gonna b**** about stars. Go ahead and keep accepting mediocrity if you want to.

I'm sure you'll see a different trend. exactly. I couldn't give a **** where our players get drafted. I just want the team to win. If that means we have a squad of undrafted Free agents, so be it. College productivity and draft position have almost no correlation

Look at FSU's commitment list right now.... bunch of 3 stars as well and they'll prob lose Cole so.... no reason to get bent out of shape. It's a solid class so far with a lot of potential. Now is the time to start bringing in those household names we want for 2015.

I actually believe we have a better class then them right now. the only one thats holding them up is that 5 star Safety whos been a NOLE commit for 2 years and Cole. for them to win a National Championship you would have thought they would look like Bama's.

History has shown that they will close strong. Has Golden shown that ability?

The only guy I think is special is this kid: Nyqwan Murray . he came here on a visit a month before he committed but we never offer. he is only a 3 star but he is a real gem. if you have a chance you should watch his highlight tape. www.hudl.com/athlete/1574982/nyqwan-murray

People posting draft results to try to claim that stars don't matter are missing the point entirely. I've posted these numbers before, but they're needed again.

You know which fans claim stars don't matter? Fans of programs that don't land enough elite players and watch their teams tread water year in and year out. Stars certainly mattered to many a couple months before NSD back in February when we had a Top 5 class and people continually pointed that out. That ranking was based on star quality. Can't have it both ways.

Odds of Becoming an All-American, by Recruiting Ranking
5–Star: 1 in 4.
Top 100: 1 in 6.
4–Star: 1 in 16.
3–Star: 1 in 56.
2–Star: 1 in 127.

"The exceptions prove the rule: Overwhelmingly, setting aside every other conceivable factor that determines success and failure -- injuries, academics, even coaching -- individual players and teams tend to perform within the very narrow range their initial recruiting rankings suggest. Some percentage of both groups will not. But when it comes to forming expectations, it should go without saying that you never want to count on being one of the anomalies."

We struck out on all our late targets on NSD just a few months ago and then exacerbated the problem by adding two low-rated depth o-linemen with the most unimpressive offer lists imaginable.

We did add the eventual best player on the team (Coley) because of Donnell Bennett and a talented, athletic LB (Grace) the previous year. But there were also a bunch of misses on players who were expected by many to be a part of the class (Collins, Bryant, Thomas, Bostwick) and a couple of recruitments that were ineptly mishandled (Kirkland and Moore).

The staff's struggles when it comes to closing have been a high-profile issue in each of the last two years. It's a big reason why they needed to get out to a strong start and try to hold onto as many key pieces as possible down the stretch.

Man this staff does have me SMH many times. As I think about it the better players on this team are the higher ranked guys. Man I ain't giving no coach props for bringing a 3 star kid from OOS when we smack in the middle of the richest talent grounds in all of college football!! Man if can't hold down the neighborhood, recruiting 3 star cats from anywhere else makes me smh. I just hope these kids can ball out.

Good post. Drop the mic and walk away kinda **** right here.

Jamie Gordinier, a 6-4, 235-pound outside linebacker at Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic and the No. 15 recruit in the NJ.com Top 50, committed to the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes, Monday, over finalists Boston College and Duke.

“I think after just visiting all the schools, I had time to sit down and think about it,” said Gordinier, who will study business in college. “And I thought Miami was definitely the best choice.

“My relationship with the whole coaching staff is great,” he continued. “Coach (Al) Golden did a great job having all the coaches communicate with me on a daily basis, so I got to know the coaches very well. And definitely, the combination of academics and a great football tradition was big, too. So, it’s kind of like a perfect fit.”

Gordiner is excited that his recruitment has come to an end.

“It feels great,” he said. “It’s kind of like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I can really just focus on my senior season.”

Gordinier is versatile enough to play multiple positions at the next level, but the Miami coaching staff has him pegged as a Sam linebacker.

“They’ve told me they like my physicality most, and also for my size, I’m a good knee bender and I can get low. And I’m really mobile in my hips,” he said. “Another thing is my versatility and how they can move me to different spots.

“They’ve talked about me playing a bunch of different positions, but primarily the Sam linebacker. But they said, if I had to, I could play the rush end or maybe middle linebacker.”

In 2013, Gordinier accumulated 86 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, eight pass deflections and caught a 12-yard pass for a TD.

His efforts helped the Caseys (10-1, 7-0) to the semi-final round of the Non-public, Group 3 playoffs. Gordinier was awarded Second Team All-Non-public and First Team All-Monmouth County honors via the Star-Ledger, for his contributions.

He also held offers from Rutgers, Northwestern, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pitt, Cincinnati, Duke, Temple, Old Dominion and others.
