Welcome to the []_[]

Jamie Gordinier, a 6-4, 235-pound outside linebacker at Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic and the No. 15 recruit in the NJ.com Top 50, committed to the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes, Monday, over finalists Boston College and Duke.

“I think after just visiting all the schools, I had time to sit down and think about it,” said Gordinier, who will study business in college. “And I thought Miami was definitely the best choice.

“My relationship with the whole coaching staff is great,” he continued. “Coach (Al) Golden did a great job having all the coaches communicate with me on a daily basis, so I got to know the coaches very well. And definitely, the combination of academics and a great football tradition was big, too. So, it’s kind of like a perfect fit.”

Gordiner is excited that his recruitment has come to an end.

“It feels great,” he said. “It’s kind of like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I can really just focus on my senior season.”

Gordinier is versatile enough to play multiple positions at the next level, but the Miami coaching staff has him pegged as a Sam linebacker.

“They’ve told me they like my physicality most, and also for my size, I’m a good knee bender and I can get low. And I’m really mobile in my hips,” he said. “Another thing is my versatility and how they can move me to different spots.

“They’ve talked about me playing a bunch of different positions, but primarily the Sam linebacker. But they said, if I had to, I could play the rush end or maybe middle linebacker.”

In 2013, Gordinier accumulated 86 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, eight pass deflections and caught a 12-yard pass for a TD.

His efforts helped the Caseys (10-1, 7-0) to the semi-final round of the Non-public, Group 3 playoffs. Gordinier was awarded Second Team All-Non-public and First Team All-Monmouth County honors via the Star-Ledger, for his contributions.

He also held offers from Rutgers, Northwestern, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pitt, Cincinnati, Duke, Temple, Old Dominion and others.

Legit question:

The article doesn't list Michigan State as an offer. Is that a typo or true?

Didn't read every post but let the kid play his sr year before we worry about star rankings. He could end up a 4 star. Could be a 2. Many guys move up and down so why complain about rankings now.

Nah, he plays in the shore conference which is one of the better leagues in NJ. He plays against mostly public schools but since his school (red bank catholic) is private he was named 2nd team all non public.

Keep in mind schools like bergen catholic, don bosco, depaul catholic, etc are private too which is why im guessing he was 2nd team.

He plays against long branch, rbr, neptune, and ocean which are all schools with plenty of black kids to be precise. And also plays against wall and manalapan which have had good teams in the past.

Second team ALL NON PUBLIC does that me he plays v little white kids?

No. Remember that up north, a lot of private schools play bigboy (public school) ball. Since they can legally recruit, those schools can load up with talent. Smaller class sizes and better facilities are the big pull for those "private" schools. They usually play great competition. Now the private schools in GA (GISA), are horrible compared to public schools and the private schools that play public school ball.

I'm a white boy he plays vs weak competition and yet we wasted another scholarship because he is not UM material. Dont want him or AG and his little buddy. Only 4 NJ kids should be on this team Quan, Olsen, Hester and Njoku the rest belong at Rutgers

I think a lot of people are going to retract their statments once this kid plays and become a stud here. Kid is a legit baller. No he doesn't have the SEC offers but he does have a ton of offers from good schools. If you focus more on the quality of the player rather then where he comes from them Maybe you would understand why they offered. Society is so quick to judge ppl that they never give them a chance. If you watched his highlight film numerous of times and still don't like him then I understand..but don't judge because he is not from south Florida we have so many busts down here too.

lol, some of you guys have no idea what you are talking about. in parts of new jersey and philadelphia, the catholic/private school football and basketball is better than the public schools. a lot of black kids go to the catholic/private schools for football and basketball.
