Alright, another great weekend of college football in the books. Miami had a much needed bye week -- and quite frankly, after being at their last two games, I needed one -- some quick thoughts on what I saw(and I didnt get to see as much as usual as I was at our meet and greet at Hustler Casino on Saturday. I'll be catching up to some of the games in the next day or two)..

- Just a quick question, the last few weeks we've seen some memorable games with great importance (Oregon-Ohio St being the latest classic). But does the 12-team playoff lessen the impact of these individual games, or does it make all the other games that aren't necessarily as 'big' more important

Because there was a time where you got one shot at a team, and a loss( and certainly two) would knock you out of any national title race. Now you get a mulligan or two (especially if you're in the SEC or Big10).

And now there's a good chance these higher ranked teams in those conferences will play themselves more than once?

- After Saturday, Dillon Gabriel has now firmly entered the Heisman race. Great game, Ohio St is still in the thick of things but playing their first offense with a real heart beat, they looked mortal. As for Dan Lanning, huge win for him, but he just frustrates me with how many times he keeps chasing points and not just taking them. In games against elite teams, EVERY point counts. But hey, they won, bottom line

- Right now, my coach of the year is either Kalani Sitake of BYU, or Pat Narduzzi of Pitt. Before the season you heard some rumblings of their seats getting a bit warm. Well, both are now undefeated. Perhaps reality hits them in the second half of the year, but thus far they have done outstanding jobs

- Remember there was some unrest about Matt Campbell at Iowa St? Sometimes you don't even know how good you have it with certain coaches.

- Cal is 0-3 in the ACC, and just 8 points from being undefeated. The margin between winning and losing is thin. That's scrappy, tough team.

- Bama just doesn't look the same. And if Lenorris Sellers doesn't mishandle that snap up 19-14 in the 4th, South Carolina wins that game in my opinion. Jalen Milroe looked like he was getting beat up physically in that second half. That's a tough style to play as a quarterback over the long haul.

- After some early rust induced flubs, Quinn Ewers settled in, and the 'Horns just systematically wore down a Sooners team that is really good on one side of the ball, depleted on the other. Texas is a complete team. I think they beat UGA next week. Sarkisian and 'the Mighty' Quinn are no strangers to going into tough, difficult game road environments and coming up big.

- Question, do you look at Lincoln Riley and USC as a hard-luck team that's a few plays from being undefeated and in the top 5, or a team and coach that can't finish games? The truth might be somewhere in the middle. Regardless, huge win for James Franklin --- again those games where you travel more than a time zone, have been really tough on teams this season. Tyler Warren put forth the tight end performance of the year for the Nittany Lions

- It might be time for Kyle Wittingham to send Cam Rising to the glue factory.

- I'll say this for Colorado -- nobody plays in as many memorable, dramatic games as the Buffs. They are incredibly entertaining on a consistent basis.

OSU is a really good team but I’ve been watching them all year and they have been far from the pedestal people were putting them

They do have a very dynamic offense, Oregon was much better on defense than they have been. Harmon and Ukelele were absolute monsters in that game

played some MAC teams, and an Iowa team that is generally offensively challenged for the most part, and then a rebuilding Mich St. Oregon really was the first true live body that they faced...

I mentioned it quite a few times but Marshall was pushing them around. They just couldn’t contain OSUs offense and the game got out of hand when Marshall did some dumb things

Being college football and all you don’t want to overreact but from all I heard about their DL I was shocked to see

OSU is very dangerous on offense though. Howard is a good fit. If we apply the same west coast travel to OSU then we have to sort of give them some grace there as well

It’s hard to win football games. That’s what this season has shown. I think the field is as level as it ever has been. No true dominant team. Let’s see what Texas does against Georgia before crowning them.

It’s been a fun season and any victory should be celebrated. It’s becoming more and more like the nfl where any given Saturday any team can win.

Both. It certainly makes losing a game like this one less painful (and therefore less "big"), but it also means that there will be more games later in the year that are now important when they wouldn't have been previously. Personally I am fine with these games being a little less important if it makes more games overall important, but that is only to a point... I think 12 is plenty for the playoff and any more will cheapen games too much.

I work weekends bartending so dont get to watch as much football as I would like. Few things that standout when im able to watch some games is Clemson is starting to heat up and that wr room looks very solid. Jeremiah Smith is a complete dog. He looks NF ready right now . fck it would have nice to land him . That K state qb would look nice in Miami next year. Just saying.

If * loses to Big Blue or Pedo St, and then not play in the B1G championship game...do they get into the dance? I hope not and Day gets **** canned for choking with a 20mm roster.
