We will lose to the Gators because our OL is too Young

I already told you several times. We have one junior and no seniors in our two-deep OL. Youth is an issue. Gators had the same problem but they made one more play than we did.

D - I am not a doom and gloomer after this game and think that there are a lot of good things to look forward to, but regardless of the game being close, the discrepancy between their DL vs our OL compared to our DL vs their OL was a giant chasm

We have a young, but talented offense overall, and I think we will be really good by mid October, but the offensive line is too young to achieve victory in game 1 verses the gators.

They return 8-9 starters on defense and it will be too much for our young Oline to handle. The tackles especially won’t hold up.

The team will fight hard but come up short

24-19 Gators
Never the place to post after an 8 month wait but of course everything you said came to fruition. However I do disagree with talent perspective Martell seemed to be our best WR. 🤢

Our tackles were definitely worse but their offense played poorly. They didn’t run the ball and their passing game was very limited.

I agree - the defense played very well; ironically I think it was the back 7 that played better than the front 7 like most of us expected. I think the original question though was, is UF's line better than we thought or is our DL - at least from a pass rush perspective - not as good as we thought.

Also, we were consistently unable to run it up the middle, but perhaps that was due to them knowing we couldn't run it outside.

Imma listen to u more often.

Was it a tackle that muffed a punt a high school sophomore would have easily caught or let go, that led to a TD.

Line played poorly and we could have still won without boneheaded mistakes.

No. He watched the spring game and echoed what every professional in the country was saying about our team. People in this thread didn’t want to hear a logical prediction that didn’t echo the New Miami.

This fantasy that a new OC is going to somehow make our OL perform like elite talent was baffling to me.

Have to bump this.

We lost the game partially due to the OL.
However, we made some very dumb mistakes on special teams and on Defense too (mostly bad tackling).

Well now ... we’re you on record regarding this game?

Your original argument was that talent isnt an issue, it’s just been bad coaching. I asked specifically, does that mean that with new coaching we’ll look good? It should, unless the new coaches suck too?

If youth is the explanation, then the problem is talent. We are so depleted we are starting guys who aren’t game ready. Why is that? Certainly not because of talent, or we’d be starting older guys who can play. We are playing a true frosh 2* project at LT because we have no one else to play there. That is an indictment of our talent and recruiting. We have no depth. No tackles of note. Forget stars, forget tweets comparing us to Alabama. Just trust your own eyes. We do not have enough talent on OL. Maybe the young guys will progress, maybe not. Right now, we are short on talent.

Our schedule is easy and we should be able to sort most of this out against the Coastal. But we are not close to ready for a major team. Florida didn’t look all that good to me either.

Franks seemed to have plenty of time unless we were sending the house. Gators were getting pressure with just 4 guys and even at times rushing 3.

There may be youth similarities between olines but there are also obvious talent discrepancies.

I think that we thought we could roll with this unit because they held their own against what we thought was a good dline during camp. But turns out our dline is pedestrian. Against a competent dline we saw what happened.

Glad to get this out of way early and have a couple of weeks to adjust before hitting our ACC schedule. Opening with a Bethune Cookman would have just masked our deficiencies and delayed what needs to get fixed. That's about the main positive I take from last night.

Still think we have what it takes to get through a weak Coastal as long as we clean up the stupid penalties and adjust the play calling to help and protect Williams.
