Yeah imo there are more questions about the linebacker situation heading into the season than at db. I do Like the talent of guys like McCloud, huff, brooks and also taq though. Just a lot of inexperienceThe DB and the DL shouldn't be a concern unless injuries jump in the equation.
The problem comes from a LB core that is as brittle as Elijah Price. It will have an effect on the other units.
Quit talking out of your *** lol, I know What they were rated in highschool but have ANY of those guys been elite in college so far? That answer is a resounding no.Those names vs our names c'mon man.....just cause we got guys from sfla doesn't mean they are as elite as those guys posted by d.
I get It, some were elite recruits, but elite players on the college level? **** no or anything close to thatHe started the bowl game.
It's only February, but all of the projections are from each team's 247 site.
We get all the second tier 4 stars, the better ones leave for kkk landGood post. This is why it drives me nuts when people try to defend our DB recruiting with "bUt We GoT aLL tHeSe 4 sTarS!" Context is key, and the context is that we have a ton of recruiting misses right in our backyard. We shouldn't have depth issues at CB.
Comparing apples to oranges.Do agree with top ten finish....but we got late rounders while those school pushing out first rounders
The “better “ ones that haven’t done ANY better than the dbs we have now? Some of y’all hyping these kids like they all have been what cj henderson was after year 1 or year 2 and they havent been close to thatWe get all the second tier 4 stars, the better ones leave for kkk land
I like Blades, but don't think he's a #1...For the record, I liked him more than Ivey in HS too. I think he can leave UM a late round pick
Those stats are so misleading though, again we played retardo passing teams.
Like for instance that La Tech game...Kids were catching balls on Blades all day...The announcers kept saying he has coverage...Well at some point when you have "coverage"...A conference USA kid should not be outfighting you for every reception.
At some point you have to give credit to the WR for making tough catches. I already made screenshots of all the catches against Blades in that game. He was DRAPING the WR on all the catches minus 1 slant route which was the only time he got beat all game.
We about to find out this season. Just get Ivey out of my sight. Also rating is no indication of elite I look at it as what schools were going full court press after a DB......like houses money etc. I don't think we have guys like that. Guys that got offered the world....maybe HallQuit talking out of your *** lol, I know What they were rated in highschool but have ANY of those guys been elite in college so far? I can get behind this post. Let's see what happens next season I'm desperately waiting to see wtf happens. I just think if u can't coach u just can't coach......hope I'm wrong though.Comparing apples to oranges.
Those programs recruit the best of the best because they win. If one 5 star doesn't work. They have another to step in his place. The have the odds in their favor. That their starters will get drafted higher. Then take into account that they play with 10 other dudes that are just as highly rated as them. So as a complete unit. They will look better.
We aren't on that level in any aspect. We've got a guy here and there. If this program can win consistently. That will change. As of this moment however. We just have to keep grinding.
The defense has played well enough for the most part. We just need the offense and ST to step their level up. The wins will come and so will the players.
guvan and bubba wer every good together. we need christian williams or couch to step up, cant be a great defense with ivy starting.A lot of it is bad evaluation...I'm saying, I don't give a **** what a site's screen tells me, I didn't believe DJ Ivey was a 4* then, and he certainly hasn't played like one.
And just think if you weight it for the brutally bad slate of passing offenses and overall QB we faced, because that particular strength of schedule is no higher than high 60s, and prob closer to the 80s. You can make an arguement we faced about 1.5 real QB last year (with the one making his 2nd start...Any of the others were just not terrible, and some of those were underclassmen.
I haven't given up on Gurvan Hall, he has his moments and didn't miss many tackles after September, he prevented big plays if nothing else...I like Bubba Bolden, and think he can be excellent if he comes back well from injury. I think Al Blades will leave here a late round pick, but I don't think he's a #1 CB on any good Miami Hurricanes team...Carter is average at best, Ivey should be a 5th or 6th corner. Bandy was average at best last year.
Hopefully Couch, Williams, K.Smith step up.
Again, when you realize we played NOTHING in terms of opposing passing offenses, you realize that secondary was pretty mediocre. Especially when you consider that they are playing behind a very good DL (The pass rush wasn't great in some games, no doubt...But still better than most of CFB)
Or the high-profile recruiting losses will really hurt.
247Sports recently released projected depth charts for Alabama, Florida and Georgia. All four of Bama’s projected starting DBs (Surtain, Jobe, Battle and Wright) were from South Florida. Three of Florida’s starters (Wilson, Elam and Davis) were from South Florida. Finally, two of Georgia’s starters (Tyrique and Campbell) were from South Florida, along with their top backup (Wilson).
There is plenty of talent in Miami’s defensive backfield. Eleven total four stars. But given what has left the region, we need Rumph and Banda to coach our guys to an elite level. 37th in yards per pass attempt is not good enough, especially considering our pass rush. Anything less than a Top 10 finish is a failure.
